 29er - World Championship 2016 - Medemblik NED - Day 1 The 228 boats' fleet, split in six groups, sailed three races on the opening day of the 29er World Championship on the Ijsselmeer NED. Lars Postma/Quinten Bramervaer NED and Rok Verderber/Klemen Semelbauer SLO are on top at equal points. Tom Crockett/Harry Morton AUS, Gwendal Nael/Liliane Mercier FRA and Ingmar Vieregge/Henrik Vieregge GER follow on the 3rd place with the same number of points.

 Laser Radial - World Championship 2016 - Dun Laoghaire IRL - Day 1 The Laser Radial World Championship began yesterday in Ireland with separate fleets for Men, Boys' and Girls' Youth.
The first leader in the men's fleet after two races is Maarten-Bastiaan Smit NED one point ahead of Jack Marshall USA. Only two of four Boys' fleets have completed two races so that the overall rankings are not yet meaningful. Juan Videla ARG and Raffael De La Hoz ESP lead in the Boys, 2 points ahead of Arthur Barrué FRA. The Girls' fleet sailed one race with Caroline Rosma NOR winning ahead of Alexandra Dahlberg FIN.

 29er - World Championship 2016 - Medemblik NED - Start today The 29er World Championship on the Ijssel-Meer began yesterday with the Practice Race sailed in a 5 kn wind. Today, 228 teams from 28 nations will start to the Championship with most probably good sailing conditions in a 15 kn wind.

 Various classes - Travemuende Week - Travemuende GER - Day 2 On Saturday, the Travemuende Week began, this year at the same time the German Laser Youth Championship. Seven one-design classes and the big-boats were in action up to now.
In the Lasers 4.7, Julian Hoffmann GER and Julia Büssmann GER share the lead at equal points. 68 participants from Germany and Hongkong are on the entry list. Hannah Andersohn GER is the clear leader in the Lasers Radial 15 points ahead of Benno Marstaller GBR, last year's winner.

 Optimist - Championnat d'été - Loctudy FRA - Final results The Optimist Summer Championship in Loctudy, southern Bretagne, ended last Friday. First after 4 races were at equal points Keo Devo FRA, Tangi le Goff FRA and the World Champion Max Wallenberg SUI, all with three race wins in their Groups. The tie was broken in favour of Keo Devo FRA with the best discard result (rank 2). 178 participants from 5 nations were present.

 AC-45-Catamaran - America's Cup World Series 2016 - Portsmouth GBR - Final results Yesterday on 'Super Sunday', the Portsmouth AC Series continued with the double-point races. Ben Ainslie GBR with his 'BAR' was the final winner much applauded by the big crowd attending the event. The report. Once more, the format of the AC Series was critisized, as the proximity to the shore to bring attractivity for the spectators can distort the results. This time, 'Team New Zealand' was handicapped colliding with a mooring buoy trailing below the surface. The video.

 420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Final results - Gold for Portugal, Italy and Greece The windy Friday conditions persisted also yesterday at the Ligurian Coast. After the Qualifier Series sailed in light winds only, the fresh breeze in all Final Series races so far mixed up the rankings considerably.
The leaders in the Open/Men rankings changed again on the last day of the competition and the new World Champions are - thanks to a solid performance yesterday (5/3/7) - Diogo Costa/Pedro Costa POR. The team of the day (1/2/2) were Wiley Rogers/Jack Parkin USA progressing on rank 2. Vasilios Gourgiotis/Orestis Batsis GRE earned Bronze.
With the ranks 4/4/3, Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA replaced the leading Maria Bover/Clara Llabres ESP on top in the Women rankings. The Bronze Medal went to Maria-Vittoria Marchesini/Cecilia Fedel ITA.
No changes however in the U17 classification: Telis Anathasopoulos/Dimitrios Tassios GRE were the strongest team also on the last day of the event taking the title wit a 15 points lead on Eduard Ferrer/Carlos De Maqua ESP. On rank 3 followed Enzo Balanger/ Gaultier Tallieu FRA. Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA, best Girls' team, finished 4th.

 The ORC World Championship in Copenhagen was concluded yesterday with a last race sailed in a light wind. The final winners are: ORC-A Vadim Yakimenko RUS with his TP 52 'Freccia Rossa', ORC-B Claus Landmark NOR on a Landmark 43, ORC-C Jascha Bach NED on an Italia 9.98.

 420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Day 5 After 4 days with light winds, a fresher breeze of over 15 kn filled in yesterday, allowing to complete three races per fleet what substantially changed the rankings.
New on top of the Open classification are now Theo Carayon/Erwan Lucas FRA, as the former leaders Jim Vincent/Victor Mas FRA dropped on rank 9 with high two-digit results. Diego Costa/Pedro Costa POR follow 10 points behind on rank 2, and another 8 points back share Marc Lladó/ Antoni Massanet ESP and Fausto Cruz/Martin Arroyo ARG the 3rd place.
New leaders in the Women are María Bover/Clara Llabrés ESP 11 points ahead of Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA. Maria Vittoria Marchesini/Cecilia Fedel ITA new on the 3rd position are another 8 points behind.
No change however on top of the U17 rankings with Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE extending their lead on 15 points. Eduard Ferrer/Carlos De Maqua ESP are new on rank 2 and 3 points behind follow Enzo Balanger/Gaultier Tallieu FRA. The former leaders Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA dropped on rank 4 with a 32 points' backlog on rank 3, all chances for the podium have gone.

 Diam 24 - Tour de France - Act 6 - Gruissan FRA - Day 1 The Tour-de-France resumed yesterday with the long-distance race of Act 6 in Gruissan FRA. The light and variable winds have shaken up the fleet during the whole race, but at the end of the day, the leader was as mostly in this Tour 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' with Quentin Delapierre and Mathieu Salomon FRA. With a 48 points' lead in the overall rankings, they will not give away the final Tour victory.

 Dragon - European Championship 2016 - St. Petersburg RUS - Final results The final outcome at the Dragon European Championship in St-Petersburg RUS was very close. Anatoly Loginov/Vadim Statsenko/Alexander Shalagin RUS grasped the title ahead of Stephan Link/Frank Butzmann/Michi Lipp GER at equal points. Only 2 points back finished Markus Brennecke/Jochen Schümann/Theis Palm GER on rank 3. Markus Wieser GER/UAE and his team on 4th missed the podium by 2 points only.

 Yngling - World Championship 2016 - Wolfgangsee AUT - Final Day The Yngling European Championship ended yesterday on Lake Wolfgang with two races sailed in perfect thermal breeze conditions. It was the day of the local team Rudolf Mayr/Anna Boustani/Philippe Boustani AUT who replaced the previous leader Gert Roukema NED and his team on top of the classifications in the last race. The Bronze Medal went to the junior team of Kai Moorman NED.

420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Day 4

After a start postponement, the Final Series went underway at the 420 Worlds in San Remo ITA in a moderate breeze, and the Open fleet sailed two, the Girls and U17 fleet one race each.
With a 2nd race rank, Maria Caba/Pilar Caba ESP took the overall lead in the Girls rankings, but the positions 1 to 4 are separated by 3 points only with Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA on 2nd only one point back. The winners of the race Maria Bover/Clara Llabes ESP advanced on rank 3, and also Julia Szmit/Hanna Dzik POL on 4th will have a say in the battle for the title.
Jim Vincent/Victor Mas FRA extended their lead in the Open rankings. Theo Carayon/Erwan Lucas FRA on rank 2 are now 7 points behind. Fausto Cruz/Martin Arroyo ARG as 3rd have a backlog of already 24 points.
Leader change in the U17-classification where Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA replaced the leading Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitis Tassios GRE on rank 1. Separated by 2 points only, the title will go to either one, as the 3rd-ranked Eduard Ferrer/Carlos De Maqua ESP are already 13 points behind.

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Final results - Gold for Germany and Italy The Optimist European Championship 2016 was concluded yesterday with two races per fleet.
Gaia Bergonzini ITA climbed on rank 1 of the Girls' Goldfleet on the last day, as Melina Pappa GRE had two medium races only and descended on rank 3. Girl of the day was Antonia Schultheis MLT, winning both heats and grasping the Silver Medal.
A leader change occurred also in the Boys' Goldfleet. Winning the last race, Mewes Wieduwild GER grasped the title on the last moment. As his sister in the Girls, Richard Schultheis MLT was the best of the day and won Silver. Bronze went to Paolo Peracca ITA, who lost the title with two medium ranks in the last heats.

Olympic News from Great Britain - The British Sailing Team - an exceptional video

The British Sailing Team has been for years among the best nations world-wide in Olympic Sailing with Medal contenders in all ten events, also at the forthcoming Regatta in Rio. The Finn sailor Giles Scott GBR e.g. has dominated the Class since the 2012 Games and only exceptional circumstances would prevent him from winning Gold.

Diam 24 - Tour de France - Act 5 - Roses ESP - Day 12

After the long-distance race of Wednesday, the short races were on the program in Roses ESP. Six qualifiers and the Super Final were sailed and with 'Trésor de Tahiti' of Pierre Pennec FRA, a new Act winner showed up. But the leader 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' extended the overall Tour lead with a 3rd final rank in Roses.

The Dragon Europeans in St-Petersburg RUS continued yesterday with two races sailed again in a fresh breeze. The rankings before the last races today are very close as the leading Anatoly Loginov RUS and his team is only one point ahead of Markus Wieser GER sailing under the UAE flag, and also Stephan Link GER (with Frank Butzmann GER) is close with 3 points behind the leader. Markus Brennecke GER (with Jochen Schümann GER) dropped on rank 4 with a 12 points' backlog.

F16-Catamaran - World Championship 2016 - Knokke BEL - Final results

The F16-catamaran Worlds in Belgium ended yesterday, but the World Champions - the young local team Henri Demesmaeker/Alec Bagué BEL - had their title prematurely before the last heats already, having won 8 of the 12 races. Silver and Bronze went to Le Chapelier/Le Bouedec FRA and Flament/Dorange FRA.

 420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Day 3 The Qualification Series for the Gold- and Silverfleet were concluded yesterday again in light winds (6 to 8 kn).
The Girls completed 3 races with Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA as new leaders 2 points ahead of Maria Caba/Pilar Caba ESP. Julia Szmit/Hanna Dzik POL dropped on rank 3.
A duo is clearly leading in the Open rankings with Tim Vincent/Victor Mas FRA one point ahead of Theo Carayon/Erwan Lucas FRA. The 3rd-ranked Diogo Costa/Pedro Costa POR are already 10 points behind.
On top of the U17-classification are Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitrios Tassios GRE, but Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA are only one point behind. .

New on top of the Goldfleet Boys is now Paolo Peracca ITA. Mewes Wieduwild GER follows 4 points behind on rank 2. Already 14 points back and new on rank 3 is Bruce Jordan USA.

 ORC - World Championship 2016 - Copenhagen DEN - Day 4 The ORC World Championship has been underway in Copenhagen since last Sunday. Yesterday, racing had to be abandoned due to lack of wind. After 4 valid races, the interim's leaders in the different categories are: ORC-A-classification (>17m) Yakimenko Vadim ITA on a TP52, ahead of Erik Berth DEN and Frederik Alexandersson SWE, both on a Swan 45, ORC-B-classification Klaus Landmark NOR on a Landmark 43, ORC-C-classification Jascha Bark NED on a Italia 9.98.

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 3 The Qualification Series at the Optimist Europeans in Southern Italy ended yesterday with one Girls' and two Boys' fleet races sailed in a fresh breeze. From now on, the competition will continue in Gold-, Silver- and Bronzefleets.
The new leader in the Girls is Melina Pappa GRE ahead of Gaia Bergonzini ITA 2nd and Gaia Falco ITA and Alice Moss SWE on the 3rd place at equal points.

 420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Day 2 The first races at the 420 Worlds were sailed yesterday afternoon in a light 6 to 8 kn breeze after a start postponement. All three fleets completed 3 races each.
With two race wins in their group, Julia Szmit/Hanna Dzik POL took the overall lead in the Women ahead of Sofia Giondi/Giulia Gatta ITA and Francesca Lusso/Alice Linussi ITA on the ranks 2 and 3.
Leaders in the Men are Theo Carayon/Erwan Lucas FRA ahead of Riccardo Sepe/Filippo Iacchia ITA and Fausto Cruz/Martin Arroyo ARG. . In the U17-classifications, Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA are on top followed by Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE and Enzo Balanger/Gaultier Tallieu FRA at equal points on the ranks 2 and 3.

6mJI - European Championship 2016 - Brunnen SUI - Final results - Title for Jean-Marc Monnard SUI

Top thermal breeze conditions prevailed also on the last day of the 6 mIJ Europeans on Lake Uri and another two races were completed. Winning the first one in the Moderns, Jean-Marc Monnard SUI and his team were the premature Champions and left out the last race. Russ Silvestri USA defended the 2nd place. Norbert Stadler SUI moved up on rank 3 on the last day of the event. In the Classics (built 1965 or earlier), the winner was the Canadian Olympic Bronze Medalist (1992) Eric Jespersen steering the US 'Lianoria' ahead of Poul Hoj-Jensen GBR and Henrik Andersen FIN.

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 2 The program of the Optimist European Championship in Southern Italy was delayed yesterday because of stormy winds of up to 30 kn, and only late in the afternoon, the velocity was below 20 kn. After 16h, both fleets sailed at least one race.
Vasileios Livas GRE moved on top of the Boys/URL] jointly with Richard Schultheis MLT. Thanks to a race win in his group, Jordan Bruce USA advanced on the 3rd place, but Mewes Wleduwild GER is only one point behind.

 Diam 24 - Tour de France - Summary after the Atlantic races Yesterday, the 24 Tour de France teams dislocated by road transport from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. Tomorrow, Act 5 will begin in Roses ESP with a 46 miles' coastal race. The first half of the competition has been dominated by 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' with Quentin Delapierre/Matthieu Salomon FRA. Only 'Crédit Mutuel - Bretagne' with Nicolas Troussel FRA and the matchracers Mathieu Richard FRA and Damien Iehl FRA with a 26 points' backlog sailed more or less on the level of the leaders.

Jean-Marc Monnard SUI dominated the Moderns fleet again and leads now overall after 6 races with a 10 point's advantage on Russ Silvestri USA. A leader change occurred in the Classics with Poul Hoj-Jensen GBR replacing Eric Jespersen CAN by a small margin. The Championship will end by this evening.

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 1 The Optimist European Championship began yesterday in Southern Italy with summery temperatures and a fresh seabreeze. Three races were sailed in both gender fleets.
Alice Moss SWE has taken the interim's lead in the Girls 2 points ahead of Gaia Bergonzini ITA. Gaia Falco ITA is on the 3rd place. The best 53 in the 105 participants' fleet will qualify for the Goldfleet.
Richard Schultheis MLT leads in the Boys' fleet one point ahead of Vasileios Livas GRE. Mic Mohr GER folgt auf Rang 3. The 181 participants sail in three fleets with the best 61 qualifying for the Goldfleet.

 Optimist - North American Championship 2016 - Antigua ANT - Final results The Optimist North-American Championship in Antigua was concluded yesterday with three Final Races in the Gold-, Silver- and Bronzefleets. Hernan Umpierre URU verteidigte defended his lead winning with a 4 points' advantage on Stephan Baker USA. Benjamin Fuenzalida CHI moved up on rank 3 on the last day. The best girl Mia Nicolosi ISV finished 4th.

 Diam 24 - Tour de France - Act 4 - Baden FRA - Final results Yesterday, concluding the Atlantic part of the Tour de France, three short races with the Super Final were on the program in Baden at the Morbihan Gulf. Light winds and a strong tide current made racing difficult.
Nevertheless, 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' with Quentin Delapierre/Marc Salomon FRA added another victory, extending the overall lead on 26 points, as the immediate challengers 'Crédit Mutuel - Bretagne' with Nicolas Troussel FRA missed the qualification for the Super Finale.

The outstanding leaders Eivind Melleby NOR/Frithjof Kleen GER were the premature champions already before the last heat and refrained from starting. Augie Diaz USA/Bruno Prada BRA defended the 2nd place by one point on Hubert Merkelbach/Markus Koy GER, winners of the last race.

 Melges 24 - European Sailing Series - Riva ITA - Final results Finishing twice on rank 3 yesterday morning, Andrea Rachelli ITA and his team remained on top of the overall rankings a win the Italian Champion's title. Angelo Di Terlizzi ITA with Michele Ivaldi ITA steering earned Silver, and thanks to a race win, Chris Rast SUI and his team with Flavio Favini ITA moved up on rank 3.

 Diam 24 - Tour de France - Act 4 - Baden FRA - Day 1 Act 4 of the Tour-de-France began yesterday in the Breton Baden at the Morbihan Gulf with the coastal race started in a very light wind prompting the Race Director to shorten it on 9 miles only. Coming strongly from behind, 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' (Quentin Delapierre/Hervé Salomon FRA) succeeded to pass the leading 'Grandeur Nature Veranda' (Jean-Christophe Mourniac FRA) on the last 300 meters, extending their overall lead.

 Melges 24 - European Sailing Series - Riva ITA - Day 2 The Melges 24-Sailing Series continued yesterday with the 'normal' Lake Garda winds: the Vento from the North in the morning, and the Ora from the South in the afternoon. Three races were completed and Andrea Rachelli ITA and his team kept rank 1 overall. Angelo Di Terlizzi ITA follows 3 points behind. Racing remains tight in the last two heats of today, with Gianluca Perego ITA and Chris Rast SUI, 6 points behind rank 1 after a race win, fighting for victory as well.

 Melges 24 - European Sailing Series - Riva ITA - Day 1 Unusual conditions prevailed on the first day of Act 4 of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series on Lake Garda. Despite of the sun, the 'Vento', tha Northwind persisted during the whole day, allowing to complete three races. Andrea Rachelli ITA and his team took the overall lead with the day ranks 4/2/1 clearly ahead of Gianluca Perego ITA and Kalman Rosznyay HUN. Chris Rast SUI, day ranks 2/15/4, is only 3 points behind rank 2. 36 teams from 10 nations participate.

The three bullets of last year's winner Paulo Sevestre SUI were only enough for rank 2, as an 11th place in the last race of the day kept him behind. Robert Hartmann SUI, winner of the last race, is on the 3rd place. 21 teams from 5 nations participate.

 49er - South American Championship 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Final results The South-American Championship in Rio - the final test before the Olympic Regatta - ended yesterday with three races, ... and the winners were for the first time in four years not the unbeatable Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL, but with a furious final (ranks 1/2/2) the 2012 Olympic Champions Nathan Outteridge/Iain Jensen AUS, followed by the tied Lukasz Przybytek/Pawel Kolodzinski POKL. The favorites from NZL remained 3rd.

 Optimist - North American Championship 2016 - Antigua ANT - Day 3 Yesterday, teamracing was on the program of the Optimist North-American Championship, with USA 1 as winner defeating USA 2 in the Final. MEX 1 earned Bronze. Here the results. All other teams sailed the Nations Cup with Chile winning against Australia in the Final. Peru is on rank 3. Here the Nation Cup results.

 Diam 24 - Tour de France - Act 3 - Roscoff FRA - Day 1 Yesterday, the Tour de France fleet resumed racing with a 23-miles coastal race in Roscoff FRA as opening of Act 3. Winner in light 6-8 kn winds was Nicolas Troussel FRA with his 'Crédit Agricole - Bretagne' reducing the backlog on the overall leader 'Lorina Limonade - Morbihan'.
