IMOCA Open 60 - Défi Azimut 2016 - Lorient FRA

 IMOCA Open 60 - Défi Azimut 2016 - Lorient FRA With two months to go to the start of the Vendée Globe, 11 of the 29 Vendée entrants participated in the Lorient 24-hour-race yesterday as a last test under racing conditions. In a moderate wind, three of the new generation Foiler-Open 60s finished on the first three places. On top was Armel Le Cléac'h FRA ('Banque Populaire') with a clear lead on Morgan Lagravière FRA ('Safran') and Jérémy Béyou FRA ('Maitre Coq'). The ranking list, the report and the video.

 Bénéteau Figaro - Horta-Douarnenez - Leg 2 - Final results Shortly after press deadline yesterday morning, Charlie Dalin FRA on his 'Macif' crossed the finish line of leg 2 and after winning leg 1, the clear overall victory was without doubt. With a backlog of 1 hr 37 min, Yoann Richomme FRA arrived as 2nd moving up on rank 2 overall as well. As 3rd in leg 2 and overall follows Xavier Macaire FRA.  Bénéteau Figaro - Horta-Douarnenez - Leg 2 - Day 5 At press deadline this morning (6h UTC), Charlie Dalin FRA had only a few miles left to the finish line in Douarnenez FRA. With a 12 miles' lead Yoann Richomme FRA, the leg win will be his, and as winner of leg 1, the overall victory cannot escape. Sailing only 2 miles behind the 2nd, Xavier Macaire FRA on the 3rd place has still chances to finish 2nd.

 Bénéteau Figaro - Horta-Douarnenez - Leg 2 - Day 5 232 miles (roughly 24 hours) are left for the leading Charlie Dalin FRA early this morning to reach the finish in Douarnenez FRA. A passing depression during the night on today brought stormy winds exceeding 35 kn and rough waves ..... a wet affair. Yoann Richomme FRA is 16 miles behind, Xavier Macaire FRA on 3rd follows another mile back.

 Bénéteau Figaro - Horta-Douarnenez - Leg 2 - Day 2 In a 20 kn rear wind, the fleet progressed at good speeds yesterday, still with small distances between the boats. Nicolas Lunven FRA was first this morning 2 miles ahead of Gildas Morvan FRA. Another mile behind is Sébastien Simon FRA on the 3rd place. Justine Mettraux SUI on the 6th position is 6 miles behind the leader.

 Bénéteau Figaro - Horta POR - Justin Mettraux SUI on the Acores The 17 participants of the solo Douarnenez-Horta-Douarnenez race have been resting on the Acores for three days to recover from the stress of leg 1. On the coming Saturday, the start to leg 2 back to Douarnenez FRA will be given. Yesteday, Justine Mettraux SUI, who was forced to abandon the first leg with a broken forestay, has reached Horta and will join the fleet on the starting line of leg 2.

Bénéteau Figaro - Douarnenez-Horta - Leg 1 - Day 8 - Sieg für Charlie Dalin FRA

 Bénéteau Figaro - Douarnenez-Horta - Leg 1 - Day 8 - Sieg für Charlie Dalin FRA Yesterday afternoon, 'Macif' with Charlie Dalin FRA took the line honour of leg one in Horta on the Acores. Only 16 minutes later, Nicolas Lunven FRA ('Generali') crossed the finish line as 2nd. On rank 3 followed Sébastien Simon FRA. 13 of the 16 boats still in the race have terminated the race up to now. Justine Mettraux SUI had abandoned the race after with a broken forestay, but she decided to head for Horta to resume racing in the second leg back to France. She expects to reach the Acores tomorrow evening.
