 J/70 - World Championship 2019 - Torbay GBR - Final results Paul Ward GBR and his team defended rank 1 in the last two races of the J/70 World Championship in Torquay GBR, the first British World Champion of this young Class.  J/70 - World Championship 2019 - Torbay GBR - Final results, the Swiss Paul Ward GBR and his team defended rank 1 in the last two races of the J/70 World Championship in Torquay GBR, the first British World Champion of this young Class. Joel Running USA and José-Maria Torcida ESP earned Silver and Bronze. ----- As 7th in the final race, Nelson Mettraux SUI advanced on rank 34 overall as best Swiss. Paul Ward GBR and his team defended the first place in the three races sailed yesterday again in a challenging 12 to 20kn wind from the shore, but José-Maria Torcida ESP reduced the backlog on 4 points. Paul Ward GBR and his team defended the first place in the three races sailed yesterday again in a challenging 12 to 20kn wind from the shore, but José-Maria Torcida ESP reduced the backlog on 4 points. After the three races of yesterday, held in a fresh 20kn breeze, Paul Ward GBR is the new leader 10 points ahead of Jose-Maria Torcida ESP. Joel Running USA descended on rank 3. ----- The Swiss did not cope with the rough conditions and lost ground in the overall rankings. After the three races of yesterday, held in an initial 10kn breeze, freshening on up to 18kn, Alberto Rossi ITA has taken the lead 3 points ahead of Joel Running USA. Another point behind follows Paul Ward GBR on 3rd. ----- Silvan Zuppiger SUI and his team advanced on tha 31st place.  J/70 - World Championship 2019 - Torquay GBR - Day 1, the Swiss After three races held at J/70 World Championship in Torbay at the English South Coast, Joel Ronning USA and his team were the only ones with three top-10 results, taking the overall lead with a 12 point advantage on Claudia Rossi ITA and her team. On rank 3 follows Andrey Malygin RUS. Silvan Zuppiger SUI and his team are the best Swiss on rank 30, but the highlight came from Nelson Mettraux SUI, who decorated the ranks 61 and 50 with a race win. He is on 39th overall.----- The ranking list.
