 Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 17 Meanwhile, all four Ultime-Trimarans have reached the most southern point Cape Town with 'Edmond de Rothschild' (Cammas/Caudrelier FRA) in the lead, 285nm ahead of 'Actual' (Le Blevec FRA/Pella ESP) on rank 2, gaining from the repair stop of 'Macif' (Francis Gabart/Gwenolé Gahinet FRA) only lasting 6 hours. Having resumed the race, they were only 7nm behind rank 2 this morning UTC.  Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 16 After 15 days and 9 hours, 'Edmond de Rothschild' with Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA was the first to round Robben Island off Cape Town and is now again heading North direction Brest FRA. The second-ranked 'Macif' (Gabart/Gahinet FRA) 165nm behind will stop a second time for a repair. 'Actual' (Le Blevec FRA/Alex Pella ESP followed with a 190nm backlog this morning UTC and will take rank 2.  Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 14 After two weeks underway, the four Ultime Trimarans are approaching Cape Town to be reached by Thursday in winds substantially lighter South of the St-Helena anticyclone. 'Edmond de Rotschild' with Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA is still leading now with a 100nm advantage on 'Macif' (François Gabart/Gwenolé Gahinet FRA). After the repair stops of these two teams, it is the turn of 'Sodebo' who lost the port rudder after al collision with flotsam. A repair stop has been planned in Cape Town. Stretched over a longer distance, the sequence remained unchanged with 'Edmond de Rothschild' of Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA on first 150nm in front of 'Macif' with François Gabart/Gwenolé Gahinet FRA, of 'Sodebo' with Thomas Coville/Jean-Luc Nélias FRA 306nm behind and another 100nm back of 'Actual' with Yves Le Blevec FRA/Alex Pella ESP. ----- The race tracker, the news and the videos.

 Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 12 The rough upwind sailing goes on for the four Ultime Trimarans and inspite of the conservative racing for safety reasons, the multihulls progress at speeds above 30kn. Life on board is not very accommodating as the the videos reveal. ----- 'Edmond de Rothschild' (Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA) keep on leading with a 73nm advantage 'Macif' (François Gabart/Gwenolé Gahinet FRA).  Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 10 Extraordinary weather conditions over the South Atlantic provoked an overthrow in the rankings yesterday. The four Ultime Trimarans were separated by 80nm only this morning UTC, practically a restart of the race ! A powerful depression arriving from the continent South of Rio de Janeiro with winds above 40kn prompted the leading 'Sodebo' to head North for safety reasons, and the other teams - including 'Macif' back in the race after the repair stop - remained North of the low pressure system as well. ----- 'Edmond de Rothschild' of Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA reclaimed the lead 18nm ahead of 'Sodebo' (Thomas Coville/Jean-Luc Nélias FRA). After 8 days and 12 hours, the closely following 'Sodebo' with Thomas Coville/Jean-Luc Nélias FRA (Media: Martin Keruzore FRA) veered direction Cape Town across the South Atlantic as the new leader.  Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 7 All four Ultimes made good progress in the solid trade winds along the Brazilian Coast. Today, however some changes in the positions will occur as Frank Cammas FRA on 'Edmond de Rothschild' will head for Salvador de Bahia for the previously announced repair stop. 'Macif' of François Gabart FRA, 79nm behind this morning UTC will replace the damaged rudder shortly after in Rio. Slowed down in the Doldrums, the gaps between the Ultime Multis increased even more. 'Macif' with François Gabart FRA was 177nm back this morning UTC. Ultime Trimaran - Brest-Atlantiques - Brest FRA - Day 2

After the rough start day with the crossing of the Bay of Biscay - here the video of the start - the wind has faded and the foils are now in full effect. With an average speed of over 30kn and peaks above 40kn, the four Ultime Multihulls have already passed Madeira. New at the top is 'Edmond De Rothschild' with Franck Cammas FRA, who were the first to gibe south. 46nm back is 'Macif' with François Gabart FRA and 'Sodebo' (Thomas Coville FRA) is 69nm behind. Only 'Actual' (Yves Le Blevec FRA) 165nm in arrear has lost some distance, mainly due to the slow passage of Cape Finisterre with a halt in a calm zone. ----- Have a look at the daily produced onboard videos to get a feeling about live at an 80kmh speed on the Atlantic.
