Olympic Worldcup Trofeo Princesa Sofia Palma ESP Day 3
The only classes to get a workout yesterday were the RS:X windsurfers and the match racing ladies. The strong-wind-specialists were obviously at ease in those conditions: Dorian Van Rijsselberge NED and Alessandra Sensini ITA did both win yesterday's two races, making them advance in the overall classifications with Sensini ITA taking the lead in the RS:X-female fleet, one point ahead of Bryony Shaw GBR and Charline Picon FRA. Shahar Zubari ISR could just defend his first place in the RS:X-male fleet. But the Olympic champion Tom Ashley NZL has joined him and Byron Kokkalanis GRE and Dorian Van Rijsselberge NED are only 3 pts behind.
Today, the Repechage will decide on the two remaining semi-final places of the Women's Matchrace. The decision will fall between Dorte Jensen DEN 3-0 and Anna Tunnicliffe USA, Nicky Souter AUS, Silke Hahlbrock GER with 2-1 each.
The weather conditions should now normalise again so that racing can resume for all, split in Gold- and Silverfleets for the 'big' classes. More info on the event Web site, with the video from Day 2.
