420, 470 - Youth European Championship 2016 - Balatonfüred HUN - Final results

The 420/470 Youth European Championship on Lake Balaton ended yesterday with the Medal Races for the 470 and a last race for the two 420 fleets.
The podium of the 470 women remained unchanged with Benedetta Di Salle/Alessandra Dubbini ITA - 4th in the Medal Race - on top ahead of Frederike Loewe/Anna Markfort GER with Silver and Silvia Mas Depares/Paola Barcelo ESP with Bronze. In the 470 men, the duel for the title went in favor of Giacomo Ferrari/Giulio Calabro ITA clearly winning the Medal Race. Malte Winkel/Matti Cipra GER earned Silver, Hyppolite Macchetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA defended the 3rd place for Bronze.
The only race of the 420ers was exciting, as the leaders Ido Bilik/Ofek Shalgi ISR almost lost the title. Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE reduced their backlog on the Israeli in the last heat on one point. Winning the final race, Carlos Balaguer/Ignacio Balaguer ESP replaced the tied Vasilios Gourgiotis/Orestis Batsis GRE on rank 3. First in the 420 U17 rankings remained Tommaso Cilli/Bruno Mantero ITA 2 points ahead of Daniel Göttlich/Linus Klasen GER. Bronze went to Lucas Parés/Teo Parés ESP.
