Volvo 65 - Volvo Ocean Race 2017 - Alicante ESP

While the non-stop-solo-skipper Vendée Globe is in its final phase in the coming weeks, the preparations for the next circumnavigation - the Volvo Ocean Race - are well underway. The start will be give in Alicante ESP in October. Up to now, three teams have formally confirmed their participation: A newcomer is 'AkzoNobel' with Simeon Tienpont NED as skipper, experienced Volvo racer as crew on 'ABN-AMRO'. A few days ago, the Chinese 'Dongfeng' with Charles Caudrelier FRA and the Spanish 'Mapfre' (skipper not yet announced) did send in the entry form. Both will sail on the boats of the last race. In total, 8 teams are expected to join the race.
