The Diam World Tour Final off Papetee/Tahiti began this morning UTC with two short races sailed in fresh winds around 20kn, followed by a 22nm offshore race Moorea. Leader after the short races was ‘CER’ with Lauranne Mettraux SUI/SNG finishing on the ranks 1 and 2. ‘Oman Sail’ and ‘Mood’ with Damien Iehl FRA follow as 2nd and 3rd overall.
The good sailing conditions stayed on during the long-distance race and only towards the end, the breeze became unconstant. Winner after 2hrs 11min was ‘Mood’ with Damien Iehl FRA. ‘Trésors de Tahiti’ with Pierre Pennec FRA followed on rank 2. ‘Oman Sail’ replaced 'CER' on 3rd by a small margin. ‘Cheminées Poujoulat’ with Bernard Stamm SUI followed on rank 5.
In the overall rankings, ‘Mood’ is now ahead of ‘Oman’ and ‘CER’. Tomorrow, the longest race with 90nm is on the program. The wind forecast is again excellent.
