The 2019 RS:X North American Championship began yesterday on Biscayne Bay with three races in winds of 20-29kn and a steep chop. In view of the Miami Olympic Classes next week, the attendance is international with 36 participants from 12 nations.
First in the men's fleet after three races is Piotr Myszka POL at equal points with Louis Giard FRA. 8 points behind follows Pierre LeCoq FRA on 3rd. The top North American in the men’s fleet is currently Ignacio Berenguer MEX on rank 13. Felix Toledo USA is 17th.
The women and youth (under 22 years) raced together in the 8.5 meter sail division. Hélène Noesmoen FRA and youth sailor Manu Nores USA finished 1st and 2nd in all 3 races and are clearly ahead on the ranks 1 and 2 overall. Six points behind on 3rd follows Gelly Skarlatou GRE. The top North American women after day one is Mariana Aguilar MEX.
Racing concludes today with three more races planned.
