Part II of the Kiel Week, mainly dedicated to Olympic Classes, was kicked off yesterday with the first races. However, only the 49er skiffs have really representative fleets. The two 470 events had even to be cancelled. The RS:X windsurfers have not been invited. -----
Philipps/Philipps AUS lead in the 49ers (82 boats from 27 nations) ahead of Warrer/Precht DEN and Rual/Amoros FRA. Harry Melges III/Finn Rowe USA on rank 19 are the best among 4 USA teams. Alexander Heinzemann/Justin Barnes CAN on rank 27 are best of 8 Canadian teams.
In the 49ersFX (52 boats, 19 nations), Annemiek Bekkering/Anette Duetz NED and Wilma Bobeck/Malin Tengström SWE share the lead at equal points. Paris Henken/Anna Tobias Tunnicliffe USA are 15th, Georgia and Antonio Lewin-Lafrance CAN 29th.
After two Finn (25 boats, 8 nations) races, Ondrej Teply CZE is on first ahead of Max Kohlhoff GER and Jake Lilley AUS. No North Americans.
In the Lasers Radial (43 boats, 21 nations), Josefin Olsson SWE is on top in front of Tuula Tenkanen FIN. Elena Oetling MEX is 17th.
in the Lasers Standard (59 boats, 17 nations), Daniel Whitteley GBR is on the first positiion ahead of Nico Naujock GER. James Juhasz CAN is on rank 5 as best of 4 CAN teams.
In the Nacra 17 (21 boats, 13 nations), Paul Kohlhoff/Alice Stuhlemmer GER are leading ahead of Vittorio Bissaro/Maelle Frascari ITA. No North Americans.
