IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 15
The fleet of 32 participants remaining in the race has been stretched evenmore. So far, only 19 have crossed the equator, and above all, the leaders continue to benefit from good conditions. The top duo Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut', Foiler) and Charlie Dalin ('Apivia', Foiler) are sailing practically in sight this morning UTC. Ruyant's lead has shrunk to 7nm. Today, the two are likely to be decelerated by the St-Helena anticyclone. The report. ----- Alex Thomson GBR, 'Hugo Boss', Foiler) is still busy repairing the structural damage at his Open60. Apparently, a longitudinal strut in the bow is broken. Assisted by radio advice of the technical team, the Englishman is laminating the damaged carbon part. The report. ----- Jean Le Cam FRA ('Yes we Cam', Non-Foiler) was able to shorten his gap to 250nm thanks to fresher winds and has moved up to 3rd place. Just behind follows a group of 6 chasers with Boris Herrmann GER ('SeaExplorer', Foiler) in 8th place and Samantha Davis GBR ('Intiatives Coeur') in 10th. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
