X40Catamaran Extreme Sailing Series Act 5 Cowes GBR Day 2, Alinghi
The breeze exceeding 30 kn induced the Race Committee to split the fleet in two 6-boat groups for safety reaseons, and the X-40 cats sailed with reefs and without gennakers. Nevertheless a massive crash happened in the first race of the second group, taking 'Artemis' and 'Groupe Edmond de Rothschild' out of the race for the day. Here the video. In the overall rankings, 'Luna Rossa' with last year's winner Paul Campbell-James GBR steering has taken the lead, followed by 'The Wave - Muscat'. 'Alinghi' with Tanguy Carriou FRA advanced on the 4th place. Looking for spectacular races, Cowes with a big well-informed crowd ashore was definitely the place to go, compared to the AC-45 at Cascais. The report of the day and the results.
