Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship 2017 - Barcelona ESP - Day 3, the Swiss

The seabreeze was late in Barcelona and racing started at 15h only. Two heats were sailed in light winds around 8 kn.
The situation in the Lasers Standards remains open before the last races today with Francesco Marrai ITA new on first, as the clear leader Tonci Stipanovic CRO had a disastrous day with the ranks 51 and 20, relegated on rank 2 with a 6 pts backlog. Another point behind is Giovanni Coccoluto ITA on 3rd. The ranks 2 to 7 are separated by 5 pts only and Pavlos Kontides CYP, Andrew McKenzie NZL, Nick Thompson GBR and Phillip Buhl GER remain in the race for a medal. Eliot Merceron SUI is now 26th.
The Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED 15 pts ahead of Anne-Marie Rindom DEN in the Lasers Radial women is on a safe was to the title. Svenja Weger GER and Vasileia Karachaliou GRE follow on the ranks 3 and 4 at equal points. After a solid perfomance (ranks 4 and 11), Maud Jayet SUI advanced on rank 11.
The advantage of Marcin Rudawski POL in the Radial men melted on 4 pts. Marcelo Cairo ESP remains on rank 2. With a 17 pts deficit follow the tied Dimitris Papadimitriou GRE - best of the day yesterday with the ranks 1 and 2 - und Antonio Coronilla ESP. Grégoire Peverelli SUI is still on the good 7th place with a backlog on 33 pts on the Bronze medal. Gauthier Verhulst SUI and Nicolas Rolaz SUI follow on the ranks 21 and 23.
