Laser Radial - World Championships 2020 - Melbourne AUS - Final results - Gold für Marit Bouwmeester NED, Maud Jayet SUI

The Laser Radial World Championship in Sandringham AUS was concluded today with a final race held in light winds, that almost ended with a sensation, as the dominating Marit Bouwmeester NED sailed her discard race, while her team mate Maxim Jonker NED finished 5th and reduced her backlog on 2 points, earning Silver. Another point behind followed Line Flem-Höst NOR with Bronze. ----- The day win went to Marie Barrué FRA. Maud Jayet SUI, rank 20, dropped on rank 16 (13th nation) and missed the Olympia selection by one rank. ----- The undisputed Radial Men World Champions is Daniel Krutskikh RUS, ahead of Michael Compton AUS and Nik Pletikos SLO completing the podium. ----- The results and the event facebook page.

Three final fleetraces were sailed this morning UTC to select the ten best for the Medal Races of tomorrow. ----- The RS:X men title will go to the Netherlands in - as in the previous year - a duel between Kiran Badloe NED and Dorian Van Rijsselberghe NED 10 points behind. The trio Shahar Zubari ISR, Thomas Goyard FRA and Pawel Tarnowski POL, separated by 6 points, will fight for the Bronze Medal. ----- Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI remained on rank 8 (= 43rd overall) in the Silverfleet.  Laser Radial - World Championships 2020 - Melbourne AUS - Day 5, Maud Jayet SUI After the three races of this morning UTC sailed by all fleets in freshwind conditions, Marit Bouwmeester NED extended once more her lead and is now - before the three final races of tomorrow - 24 points in front of Line Flem-Höst NOR new on 2nd. Another 10 points behind follows the defending champion Anne-Marie Rindom DEN on 3rd. ----- Maud Jayet SUI realized only one good race (rank 13) and dropped on rank 14 (12th nation), just good enough for the Olympia selection. ----- The women ranking list. ----- 19 points is the lead of Daniel Krutskikh RUS in the Radial men.  Laser Radial - World Championships 2020 - Melbourne AUS - Day 4, Maud Jayet SUI After two light-wind days, the wind situation changed substatially at the Laser Radial Worlds in Sandringham AUS with thunderstorms yesterday and 16-18kn wind today Wednesday. The fresher breeze was the preferred turf for the Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED, winning the races 3 to 6 and taking the overall lead 10 points ahead of Emma Plaesschart BEL on 2nd, one point ahead of Anne-Marie Rindom DEN 3rd who was also in difficulites in the stronger winds. ----- Maud Jayet SUI limited the damage and is still on rank 6, but now with a deficit of 11 points on rank 3. ----- The Qualification Series have now been concluded and the top-half of the fleet, cut at rank 53, will continue the Championship in the Goldfleet, the other half in the Silverfleet. ----- The results. ----- The Radial Men completed only one race with Daniel Krutskikh RUS still on top.  RS:X-Windsurfer - World Championship 2020 - Sorrento AUS - Day 2, Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI Three more races were completed this morning UTC after a wet and wild day at RS:X Windsurfing World Championships in Sorrento AUS. ----- Overall leader in the RS:X men rankings is now the defending Champion Kieran Badloe NED, day ranks 2/1/1 in his group, with new on the podium places Pawel Tarnowski POL 4 points and Dorian van Rijsselberghe NED 5 points behind. ----- Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI dropped on rank 53. ----- Modifications on the RS:X women top ranks with Noy Drihan ISR with two race wins, replacing Maja Dziarnowska POL on rank 1 now just one point behind.  IRC - RORC Carribbean 600 - English Harbour ANT - Day 2, the Swiss Inspite of lull zones around the islands, the fleet made good progress in the past 24 hours with the favorites leading the in the multi- and monohulls. ----- The multihull will finish the race today, as the leading 'Powerplay', the MOD70-Trimaran of Peter Cunningham GBR, was only 157nm from the arrival this morning UTC. The immediate challengers Jason Carroll USA on his MOD70 'Argo' only one mile behind, as well as 'Maserati' of Giovanni Soldini ITA with a 25 mile backlog remain contenders for victory. ----- A tight duel is also going on in the monohulls between the VOR70 'Wizard' of David and Peter Askew USA and 'Protector', the Mini-Maxi of Terence Glackin USA only one mile behind.  Sailing Champions League 2020 - the program - the Swiss Last week, the Champions League organizers have announced the details for the upcoming season. The new venues for the Qualifiers will be Mariehamn FIN (June) and Travemünde (July). In addtion to the Championship title, Oceania is racing for an Olympic berth, and in both fleets, AUS and NZL will duel for this slot. Important windsurfing nations such as FRA ISR.  420, 470 - Carnival Race - San Remo ITA - Final results, the Swiss After three race days with sun and moderate winds, the breeze was missing on the final day of the San Remo Carnival Regatta. Winners in the big 420 Open fleet after 8 races were Tom Rodet/Yael Maucut FRA ahead of Ange Delerce/Thimotée Rossi FRA. Federico and Riccardo Figlia di Granara ITA followed on 3rd. Rosa Donner/Sebastien Slivon AUT on rank 8 were the best mixed team, just ahead of the best Swiss Alexandre Grognuz/Elliot Schick SUI on the 9th place. Light winds prevailed yesterday at the Finn Internationals in Cannes FRA allowing to sail one race in the morning. In the afternoon, a long-distance race around the Lérin Island, not part of the overall rankings, was held. ----- Laurent Hay FRA won the race and took the overall lead ahead of Valerian Lebrun FRA at equal points. Fabian Pic FRA is now on the 3rd place. The previous leader André Hojen DEN is temporarily down on rank 15 after a premature start disqualification. ----- Michael Beyeler SUI on rank 20 remains the best Swiss.  29er - Eurocup 2020 - Act 1 - El Balis ESP - Final results, the Swiss Yesterday, the first Act of the 29er 2020 Europacup was concluded in El Balis ESP. 89 teams sailed 13 races in four days with the mixed-team Freya Black/Fin Armstrong GBR winning 8 races in their group finishing clearly on rank one ahead of Stephan Baker/Marco Misseroni USA 2nd and Tanguy Le Goff/Youen Bertin FRA 3rd.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Final results, Schneiter/Cujean win Olympic ticket The combined 49er, 49erFX and Nacra-17 World Championship in Geelong AUS was concluded this morning UTC with two fleetraces and the Medal Races per class. ----- In the 49ers, Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL winning the two final fleetraces had an 18 point lead before the Medal Race and earned the Worlds title with a relaxed ride finishing the Medal Race as 4th. Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP moved one place up on rank 2. The winners of the Medal Race, Erik Heil/Thomas Plössel GER, clinched Bronze. Bad luck for the long-time leaders Bildstein/Hussl AUT, who - after a bad start to the Medal Race - even dropped from the podium finishing 4th overall. ----- Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI missed the Medal Race, but with the final rank 12, they satisfied the Swiss Olympic criteria for the ticket to the Tokyo Games. ----- In the 49erFX, the tied Charlotte Dobson/Sakia Tidey GBR and Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP delivered a close battle that was decided just before heading for the final downwind in favour of Echegoyen/Barcelo ESP.
