IRC - RORC Caribbean 600 - Antigua ANT - Day 2 - Rambler USA 1st, Müller Blumencron Bros 12th

 IRC - RORC Caribbean 600 - Antigua ANT - Day 2 - Rambler USA 1st, Müller Blumencron Bros 12th With 'QCR' eliminated right after the start to the Caribbean 600-miles-race, 'Rambler' had an easy game to take the monohull line honours after 1 day and 11 hours this morning UTC, a new record for this long-distance race initiated 10 years ago. Here the news. Overall first was the 63-foot catamaran 'Paradox'. The mostly fresh wind overturned the 53-foot catamaran 'Fujin' with the crew rescued unhurt. The report.
The Volvo70 'Warrior' followed with a 45nm backlog on rank 2, 'Varuna', the KER 56 of Jens Kellinhusen GER on 3rd was 145nm behind. Matthias and Othmar Blumencron GER/SUI on 'RED', a Class 40, moved up two places on 12th.

Ice-Sailing - DN Polish Championship 2018 - Final results, the Swiss

 Ice-Sailing - DN Polish Championship 2018 - Final results, the Swiss As tune-up to the DN-Iceboating World- and European Championship to be organised by the Estonian DN Association faced with a critical ice situation, the Polish Championship took place over the past weekend. In previous years, DN pilots from Poland were the dominators, lead by the 10-times World Champion and America's Cup helmsman Karol Jablonski POL.
At the Polish Nationals 2018 however, he was defeated with a tiebreak by Michal Burczynski POL. Best non-Polish was Jean-Claude Vuithier SUI on rank 12 among the 93 participants. Philippe Durr SUI followed on rank 29. Edouard Kessi SUI finished 8th in the B-fleet (= 47th overall).

RORC Caribbean 600 - Antigua ANT, the Swiss

 RORC Caribbean 600 - Antigua ANT, the Swiss 88 yachts - a record-size fleet - started off Antigua yesterday to the Carribean600 long-distance race. The duel of the two Super-Maxis was decided shortly after the start when the 100-Foot-Maxi 'CQS' was forced to return back to the harbour with technical problems and the 88-Foot-Maxi 'Rambler' sailed away unchallenged. Her advantage on the Volvo70 'Warrior' was 18nm this morning UTC. On rank 3 followed the Ker56 'Varuna'. Roughly 60nm back were the brothers Matthias and Othmar Müller von Blumencron GER/SUI on their Class 40 'Red'. Othmar was the Swiss Finn Diploma Olympian 1992 in Barcelona.

Optimist - Nations Trophy - Palamos ESP - Final results, the Swiss

 Optimist - Nations Trophy - Palamos ESP - Final results, the Swiss After three days with almost no wind, the breeze filled in yesterday as forecast, and the missing races of round 2 and a full round 3 could be sailed to bring the five groups at level for the final rankings.
Overall winner is Martin Atilla LAT (1/1/4), followed by the World Champion Maria Perello ESP on 2nd and Manhes Andrea FRA on 3rd. The best Swiss Stach Vleeshouwers SUI (16/4/2) follows as 14th. With Jeanlou Lauber SUI on rank 18, Axel Grandjean SUI (27), Ludovico Cornaro SUI (39) and Simon Mille SUI (49), five more Swiss finished in the top-50 among the 550 participants.

Optimist - Nations Cup - Palamos ESP - Day 3 - No races, the Swiss

 Optimist - Nations Cup - Palamos ESP - Day 3 - No races, the Swiss Rainy weather with very light and circling winds inhibited racing yesterday and the overall rankings remain unchanged with only one race on the opening day, as only two of the five groups completed an additional heat the day before yesterday. For the last races today, a fresh 15 to 20kn breeze has been announced. Among the winners of day one was also Simon Mille SUI.

 Diam-24-Trimaran - Arabian Tour 2018 - Muscat OMN - Final results, the Swiss As expected, the short races off Muscat did not alter the positions on top of the Arabian Tour rankings. 'Bejaflore' with Valentin Bellet/Julien Villion/Guillaume Piroulle/Valentin Sipan/Jason Saunders FRA/NZL finished first ahead of 'EFG Bank Monaco' with Thierry Douillard FRA (and a.o. Mathieu Richard FRA) on rank 2. Bernard Stamm SUI with his Cheminées Poujoulat' moved up on rank 5 at equal points with the 4th-ranked 'Vivacars.fr'. Elodie-Jane Mettraux SUI with her all-female team remained on the 8th place.

 Finn - International Week - Cannes FRA - Final results, the Swiss No more racing yesterday on Cannes Bay as the wind was lacking. Dominating first in the final rankings of the International Finn Week is therefore after 7 races Guillaume Boisard FRA ahead of Laurent Hay FRA and Liiv Harles EST. The best Swiss Hans Fatzer SUI follows on rank 22 and is at the same time the Bronze Medal winner in the Legends (70plus).

 Optimist - Nations Cup - Palamo ESP - Day 1, the Swiss After some delays, racing at the Palamos Nations' Trophy was initiated yesterday afternoon with one race sailed in a light 5kn wind. The big 550 boats' fleet is split in 5 groups.
The day's winners were William Pank GBR, Martin Atilla EST, Zou Schemmel FRA, Nora Garcia ESP (beste girl) and Simon Mille SUI (the best U13 helmsman). A good opening day had also Jean-Loup Lauber SUI who is - as 4th in his group - on rank 16.

 Finn - International Week - Cannes FRA - Day 3, the Swiss After two windy days, there was only a light 5kn breeze prevailing on Cannes Bay yesterday, but the leaders remained French in these conditions as well.
Guillaume Boisard FRA extended his overall lead with another race win. Laurent Hay FRA defended on 2nd with the day ranks 2 and 4. Liiv Harles EST stays on 3rd. Hans Fatzer SUI advanced on rank 22 with a 9th race rank. Dominik Haitz SUI remains on rank 35 among the 53 participants.

 Diam 24-Trimaran - Arabian Tour 2018 - Muscat OMN - Day 14, the Swiss After yesterday's lay day and the relocation to Muscat, the final of the 2018 Arabien Tour is on the program today. At 6.30h UTC. the start to the final coastal race will be given, and tomorrow, the last short races are on the program.
'Bejaflore' with Valentin Bellet FRA is the premature winner while 'EFG Bank Monaco' and Averda' will fight for rank 2. With a good result in the final heats, Bernard Stamm SUI could move up on rank 4. Elodie-Jane Mettraux SUI remains on the last place.  Finn - International Week - Cannes FRA - Day 2, the Swiss A rough season opening for the Finns on the second day of the Cannes International Week with a 15-20kn Southwind, waves and cold temperatures. Three races were held and Guillaume Boisard FRA dominated again with two bullets. His overall lead on Laurent Hay FRA is now 4 points. Haarles Liiv EST remained on rank 3 with a 13 points' backlog. Hans Fatzer SUI was again the best Swiss on rank 26 overall. Dominik Haitz SUI follows as 36th.

 Optimist - Nations Trophy - Palamos ESP - Start today After a week with training races and material tests, the Optimist Nations' Trophy begins today in Palamos ESP. Over the past years, the event has become gigantic with now 551 Optimists from 28 nations and 3 continents. Switzerland has one of the biggest delegations with 68 participants.

On the ranks 2 and 3 overall are Laurent Hay FRA and Liv Harles EST. The best Swiss Hans Fatzer SUI is on rank 24 among the 51 participants from 8 nations.

After the races in Massirah, 'Bejaflore' with Valentin Bellet FRA has clearly taken the lead. Bernard Stamm SUI with his 'Cheminées Poujoulat' is on the 5th position wand with a 5 points' backlog on rank 3, he still has an option on the podium.

J/70, Melges 20, Longtze, Star, Smeralda - Primo-Cup - Monaco MON - Final results, the Swiss

 J/70, Melges 20, Longtze, Star, Smeralda - Primo-Cup - Monaco MON - Final results, the Swiss Sun and light winds prevailed on the final day of the Monaco Primo-Cup and all classes sailed four races. Guillaume Girod SUI and his team easily defended the first place in the good-quality J/70 fleet. Emmanuel Müller SUI won two races and advanced on rank 5. The winner in the Longtzes were Steffen Schneiter/Tim Wächter/Walter Schneiter/Gallus Waldvogel SUI, winning 4 of the 8 races. In the Stars, Roberto Benamati/...ITA finished first ahead of Christian Nehammer/....AUT and Lorenz Zimmermann/Steffen Rutz SUI/GER.

 Diam 24-Trimaran - Arabian Tour 2018 - Masirah OMN - Day 5, the Swiss Lay day at the Arabien-Tour yesterday, while the multihulls were transported to Masirah, a holiday resort island of Oman. Today, the start to another Coastal Race will be given, that can be followed over GPS tracking. First in the overall rankings is 'Bejaflore' with Valentin Bellet FRA and the 470 cracks Guillaume Pirouelle/Valentin Sipan. Bernard Stamm SUI with his 'Cheminées Poujoulat' is on rank 6. Elodie-Jane Mettraux SUI and her all-female team are 8th.

Diam 24 - Arabian Tour - Duqm UAE - Day 5, the Swiss

 Diam 24 - Arabian Tour - Duqm UAE - Day 5, the Swiss Yesterday, a 23nm Coastal Race was on the program off Duqm. Starting slowly with quite a delay, 'Bejaflore' with Valentin Bellet FRA came back strongly from behind and finished first at the end of the day. The experienced team - rank 3 in last year's Tour de France - seems to become the dominator of the Arabian Tour 2018. On rank 2 followed the 49er crack Stevie Morrison GBR, advancing on the 3rd place overall. Last year's winner 'EFG Bank Monaco' with Mathieu Richard FRA defended the 2nd rank. Bernard Stamm SUI finished 4th, his best position so far, but he stayed on the 6th place overall. The all-female team of Elodie-Jane Mettraux SUI - a.o. with Sophie de Turckheim FRA - remained last overall.

 J/70, Melges 20, Star, Longtze - Primo-Cup - Monaco MON - Start today, the Swiss Today, the Primo Cup 2018, a traditional event for keelboat classes, will begin in Monaco. Above all, the J/70s are present with a good fleet, among them 6 Swiss boats. Swiss participants can also be noted on the Starboat and Longtze entry lists. The Melges 20 and the Smeralda 888 complete the racing fleets.
