Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Final results

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Final results Light winds delayed the second half of the Medal Races yesterday, and at the end of the day, only the Lasers Standard and Radial completed their races (see separate news). The 470s and Finns remained ashore.
For the first time, a Japanese 470 men team won a Worldcup Regatta with Keiju Okada/Jumpei Hokazono JPN as best of the powerful JPN 470 delegation (4 boats in the first 6 !!) shining on the 2020 Olympic home waters. Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS and Daichi Takayama/Kimihiko Imamura JPN followed on the ranks 2 and 3. In the 470 women, Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED finished first ahead of Ai Kondo/Miho Yoshioka JPN and Benedetta Di Salle/Alessandra Dubbini ITA.
In the Finns, Nicholas Heiner NED is on top ahead of Giles Scott GBR and Ed Wright GBR.

Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Final results

The two Laser fleets sailed their Medal Races in Japan yesterday in light winds.
Elliot Hanson GBR was the premature winner before the final race already. Matthew Wearn AUS and Sam Meech NZL defended their 2nd and 3rd places.
In the Radials, it was once more Marit Bouwmeester NED who dominated the event, winning ahead of Josefin Olsson SWE and Emma Plaesschart BEL.

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Final results - Nils Theuninck SUI on rank 10 The only Swiss qualified for a Worldcup Medal Race on the 2020 Olympic waters yesterday was Nils Theuninck SUI in the Finns. Unfortunately, the wind was absent and Nils had no opportunity to improve his final ranking. However, the 10th place overall is an excellent and promising result, his first finish among the top-10 in a Worldcup event.
The highlight of the Swiss team was without doubt the 2nd rank overall of Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI in the RS:X men windsurfers. We reported on his performance during the past days.

Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 7

The Enoshima JPN Olympic Classes Worldcup continued yesterday with the first 5 Medal Races as well as fleetraces for the other classes.
James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR were the winners in the Medal Race as well, confirming their overall victory. In the 49ersFX, the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA were the premature winners before the last race already. In the Nacras-17, the long-time leader Tito Ruggero/Caterina Banti ITA were replaced on top by Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS. Winners in the RS:X windsurfers were Peina Chen CHN in the women and Kiran Badloe NED in the men.
Today, the remaining Medal Races are on the program. The first start however had to be postponed due to lack of wind ..... and the forecast remains not very promising.

Laser Standard & Radial - Olympic Worldcup 18/19, Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Heute Medal Race

 Laser Standard & Radial - Olympic Worldcup 18/19, Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Heute Medal Race The Laser Qualification Series for today's Medal Races were concluded yesterday with 3 race per class.
After another convincing performance, Elliot Hansen GBR is the premature winner in the Standards with a 43 (!) points lead. The fight for Silver and Bronze will be tight today: Thomas Saunders NZL on 2nd is 3 points ahead of Matthew Wearn AUS, and a another 2 points back, Philipp Buhl GER and Sam Meech NZL have a chance for the top 3.
In the Radials, Marit Bouwmeester NED is the premature winner as well. Her advantage on Josefin Olsson SWE is 19 points. Emma Plaesschart BEL on 3erd follows 3 points behind, and also Hannah Snellgrove GBR has chances for a Medal.

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 7 - the Swiss We reported yesterday about the excellent 2nd overall rank of Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI, RS:X men windsurfer. We demonstrated his light-wind skill on the 2020 Olympic Waters of Enoshima JPN.
With Nils Theuninck SUI, a second Swiss qualified for a Medal Race yesterday. As 10th, he expelled among others the World Champion Max Salminen SWE or the Olympic Medalists Jonthan Lobert FRA and Caleb Paine USA from the Medal Race !
Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI finished the Worldcup in the 470 men on rank 15. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI abandoned the race and with this third three-letter (DNF) results in this event, they dropped on rank 20.
The Swiss Lasers clearly missed the Medal Race. Eliot Merceron SUI finished 24th in the Standards, Maud Jayet SUI 16th in the Radials.

Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 5 - first Medal Races sailed

At the Enoshima JPN Olympic Classes Worldcup, the Medal Races for the first half of the Classes, as well as remaining fleetraces are about to be sailed this morning UTC.
Kiran Badloe NED finished first in the RS:X men windsurfers ahead of Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI. In the RS:X women, Peina Chen CHN is on top ahead of Liliane de Geus NED, and the Nacras-17, Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS replaced the big favorites Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA on rank 1.
The 49ers and 49ersFX, are still racing, and the final results will probably be available by 8h a.m. UTC.
Yesterday, only the Lasers Standard could sail a race due to lack of wind. All other classes remained without results. Today, the 470s, Finns and Lasers sailed their last fleetraces.

 Laser Standard & Radial - Olympic Worldcup 2018/19, Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 6 Much rain and almost no wind in Japan yesterday and only the Laser Standards could complete one race with Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR as winner. Elliot Hansen GBR remains on top overall ahead of Tonci Stipanovic CRO and Matthew Wearn AUS. Two more races are on the program today and tomorrow, the Medal Race will be held.
Two races are on the program of the Lasers Radial, one of them already finished this morning UTC. Marit Bouwmeester NED is the new overall leader 4 points ahead of Daphne Van der Vaart NED. With a 7 points' deficit, Sarah Douglas CAN, Allison Young GBR and Hanna Snellgrove remain in the race for Medals

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 5 - Silver for Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI Yesterday, only the Lasers Standard could sail a race in almost no wind and pouring rain. Eliot Merceron SUI is 18th with a small chance to qualify for the Medal Race in today's two heats. This morning UTC, the first Medal Races have been completed and some fleetraces have been held.
Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI, the only Swiss qualified for a Medal Race moved up on the excellent second place overall ! Already underway this morning were also the Lasers Radial with their first race and Maud Jayet SUI advanced on rank 15 overall. However, the backlog is too big to qualify for the Medal Race - rank 10 - in the remaining race. Nils Theuninck SUI finished 5th this morning moving up on the 11th place with an 8 points' deficit on the Medal Race cut. In the 470s, both Swiss teams are in difficulties. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI are 17th in the men, Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI dropped on rank 20. For Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI, the Enoshima Worldcup is over as with rank 14 after the Qualification, the Medal Race remained 15 points away.

Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 3

Light winds prevailed yesterday after two windy days, slackening to an extent, that the Lasers Radial could not sail their races at the end of the afternoon.
In the 470 men, Keiju Okada/Jumpei Holazono JPN extended their lead on Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS to 13 points. On the ranks 3 to 5 follow more Japanese teams. In the 470 women, Benedetta Di Salle/Alessandra Dubbini ITA replaced Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen at equal points on top.
James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR defended their first place in the 49ers by a small margin. The day's best Lukasz Przybytek/Pawel Kolodzinski POL joined the leaders pointswise on rank one. In the 49ersFX, the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA are now already 26 points ahead of the new second-ranked Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR.
In the Finns, Giles Scott GBR stays on top ahead of Nicholas Heiner NED new on rank 2. In the Nacra-17 catamarans, the winning streak of Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA came to an end, but the Italians still lead with a 5 points' advance on Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS.
In the RS:X men windsurfers, Kiran Badloe NED still leads 7 points in front of Mattia Camboni ITA. In the RS:X women windsurfers, Peina Cehn CHN is now first ahead of Bryony Shaw GBR.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 3 For the first time, the breeze on the 2020 Olympic waters was light and slackening yesterday, and sailing as last Class, the Lasers just had enough wind for a Standard race, while the Radials remained without races.
Winning in the Standards, Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR moved up on rank 15. Overall, Eliott Hansen GBR extended his lead on 8 points. Sam Meech NZL and Nick Thompson GBR are the first challengers.
In the Radials, Alison Young GBR is first one point ahead of Marit Bouwmeester NED. Josefin Olsson SWE follows on rank 3.

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 3 - Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI best of the day For the first time, the breeze was light and slackening on the 2020 Olympic waters in Japan, and the Swiss specialists had their day.
Finishing 4/1/9, Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI was the best of the day in the RS:X men windsurfers yesterday and moved up on rank 3. Good results also for the 470 women team Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI with the ranks 10 and 11, moving up on rank 18 overall with a valid option on the Medal Race fleet. Even more, this is true for Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI on rank 13 in the 470 men, who added an excellent 4th race rank on their result sheet. A best result also for Eliot Merceron SUI with a 5th place in the only race of the Lasers Standard, advancing on rank 16 overall. The Lasers Radial could not sail due to lack of wind yesterday. After 4 races, Maud Jayet SUI is on the 18th place. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI slightly improved their overall ranking on 15 still in the reach of the Medal Race cut.

Good conditions prevailed also on day 2 of the Enoshima JPN Worldcup event with a 12-15kn wind, and the full program with 2-3 races per class was completed.
In the 470 men, the Japanese teams dominated with 3 boats among the top 4. Keiju Okada/Jumpei Hokazono JPN lead 3 points ahead of Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS. In the 470 woman, Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED are on rank 1 with a 3 points' advantage on Skrzypulec/Ogar POL.
In the 49ers, James Peters/Fynn Sterrit GBR are on top 2 points' in front of Fletcher/Bithell GBR. First in the 49ersFx, the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA are coming back strongly. In their second competition since the Olympic victory, they are clearly leading with two race wins.
In the Finns, the best of the day Jorge Zarif BRA (ranks 3/1) joined the leading Giles Scott GBR on rank 1. In the Nacra 17, Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA won 5 of the 6 races. With Vittorio Bissaro/Maelle Frascari ITA on rank 2, the Italians rule the class for the moment.
Leader in the RS:X men windsurfers is Kiran Badloe NED 3 points ahead of Mattia Camboni ITA. Dorian Van Rijsselberghe NED follows on rank 3. In the RS:X women windsurfers, 2 Chinese women are on the ranks 1 and 2: Yunxiu Lu CHN and Peina Chen CHN.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 2 Moderate 12 to 15kn winds prevailed on the second day of the Enoshima JPN Worldcup event and both Laser fleets completed 3 races each. As from today, the windforecast predicts some lighter breeze.
The new leader in the Laser Standards after a race win today is Elliott Hansen GBR, one point ahead of Michael Beckett GBR and Matthew Wearn AUS at equal points on 2nd and 3rd.
In the Radials, Alison Young GBR, best of the day (2/4), has taken the lead ahead of Marit Bouwmeester NED and Josefin Olsson SWE closely behind.

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Enoshima JPN - Day 2 - the Swiss After a rather limited first day, some Swiss clearly improved their performance yesterday, above all Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI, finishing on the ranks 1/7/4 in the RS:X men windsurfers and moving up on rank 6. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI keep the pace with the best in the 470 men and hold a 13th place overall, while Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI 19th in the 470 women added another disqualification on their result sheet, the second one after their premature start disq on day one. Nils Theuninck SUI had an excellent 2nd place yesterday moving up on rank 12 in the Finns. After 8 races in the 49ers, Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI are on rank 17. Chris Rast USA-SUI/Trevor Burd USA advanced on rank 9. In the Im Lasers Radial, Maud Jayet SUI is now 18th, Eliott Merceron 21st in the Lasers Standard.

Yesterday morning, the first Olympic Classes Worldcup Event 2018/9 began on the Olympic waters 2020 of Enshima JPN. This morning, the first results of the day are still missing, apparently, the starts have been postponed.
Yesterday, all classes completed 2 to 3 races in good 12-15kn wind conditions. Here the result overview by yesterday evening, probably to be updated during this Wednesday.
Racing can be followed live over GPS tracking. By noon UTC, racing of the day - if any - will be completed and the full overall results of the day will be posted.

Yesterday morning, the first Olympic Classes Worldcup Event 2018/9 began on the Olympic waters 2020 of Enshima JPN. This morning, the first results of the day are still missing, apparently, the starts have been postponed.
Yesterday, all classes completed 2 to 3 races in good 12-15kn wind conditions. Hier the result overview by yesterday evening, probably to be updated during this Wednesday.
The Swiss did not deliver to results. The best-ranked Maud Jayet SUI is on rank 13 in the Lasers Radial.

 Olympic Worldcup 2018/19 - Act 1 - Enoshima JPN - Day 1 The first Act of the 2018/19 Olympic Classes Worldcup began today on the 2020 Olympic Waters of Enoshima JPN and the first races have already been completed. The full result of today will be available around noon UTC.
In the 470 men, Peponnet/Mion FRA won the first race. In the 470 women, Hanna Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR were on top.
In the 49ers, Fletcher/Bithell GBR lead after 3 races ahead of Przsybytek/Kolodzinski POL.
Josh Junior NZL won the only Finn race.
In the RS:X men windsurfers, Mattia Camboni ITA is in the lead.
In the Nacras 17, Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA as 1st earned two bullets. on their comback, Billy Bessen/Marie Riou FRA followed on rank 3.
All other classes were not yet active this morning UTC. The complete results overview will be available by noon UTC.
