IMOCA Open 60, Class 40, Ultime, Multi 50 - Route du Rhum - Pointe-à-Pitre FRA - Day 7

In an easterly breeze of 15kn, the leading two Ultime Trimarans of François Gabart FRA ('Macif') and 63nm behind Francis Joyon FRA ('IDEC') are approaching the finish line of the 3'542nm Route du Rhum off the Guadeloupean capital Pointe-a-Pitre in the French Caribbeans at speeds between 20 and 30kn in perfect trade wind conditions. Gabart had under 300nm to sail early this morning UTC and the duo will terminate the race during this afternoon. The outcome is still full open as the weather condition around the islands are very unstable.
The rest of the fleet has not even covered half of the distrance. Armel Tripon FRA leads in the Multi 50 with an advantage exceeding 260nm. The former leader Thibault Vauchel-Camus FRA has resumed the race after his repair stop still occupying rank 2.
In the Open 60, Alex Thomson GBR ('Hugo Boss') is 76nm in front of Paul Meilhat FRA ('SMA'), and almost 100nm ahead of Vincent Riou FRA ('PRB') on 3rd. Boris Herrmann GER ('Malizia') has lost some more miles and remains on rank 4. On the 8th place follows the Paralympic Champion Damien Séguin FRA.
In the Class 40, Yoann Richomme FRA is on first ahead of Phil Sharp GBR.
In the two Amateur Rhum categories, Pierre Antoine FRA is first in the Multis and Sydney Gavignet FRA in the Monos.
