Star Sailors League The SSL World Ranking list to be extended to other Classes
The Star Sailors League, inaugurated five years ago, has a proven record since and the annual Finals on the Bahams not only with the best Starboat helmsmen, but also Champions from other Olympic classes, has become one of the best-attended sailing events world-wide. Moreover, the unique format chosen with a state-of-the-art live media coverage has become a role-model in yacht-racing.
The latested edition of the Star Sailors Ranking list has Eivind Melleby NOR on rank one thanks to his 3rd place at the 2019 Bacardi-Cup of early March. Diego Negri ITA and Jorge Zarif BRA follow on the ranks 2 and 3.
A significant development and another huge step for the SSL Ranking to become global will be the inclusion of top sailors of all Olympic (and even other) classes till 2020, making it not only a list of the best Starboat sailor, but of the "Stars" in sailing. By the end of 2020, the Star Sailors League, intends to incorporate all of the Olympic classes but won’t stop there.
The first class incorporated now are the Finns. Jorge Zarif BRA is on 3rd not only for his Starboat successes, but also his Finn results. Other Finn sailors in the top ten are Max Salminen SWE and Beresz Zsombor HUN on the ranks 9 and 10.
