Good Westwind conditions prevailed at the Super League Final on Lake Bienne yesterday, allowing to complete six round. ----- The duel on top is in full swing with the SV Kreuzlingen of Tom Rüegge winning 3 races, as did the RC Oberhofen with Stefan Seger, still one point behind in the overall rankings. At Cape Finisterre in northwest Spain, repeated attacks by orcas on sailing yachts were reported in recent weeks. Numerous sailboats with broken rudders had to be rescued by the coast guard. Spain has now closed an approximately 100km long coastal zone for all sailing yachts under 50 feet. In the latest issue of "follow me - Information from the Executive Board", Martin Vogler, president of Swiss Sailing, and Olivier Baudet, vice-president, announce their resignation from the Board. Eight (!) weeks before the elections, a new president is urgently needed, who according to the agreed rotation between the Swiss language regions should come from the French or Italian speaking part of Switzerland. During his three-year mandate, Martin Vogler was unable to set a clear course or stop the decline of the association. The number of members decreased by more than 30%. The traditional Régates Royales de Cannes began on Monday with the Dragons and the Starboats. Originally, the Stars planned to held their European Championship, but it had to be canceled due to the Corona restrictions for the South of France. ----- Puissegur/Charton FRA and Chabout/Rupert FRA share the lead in the all-French Star fleet ahead of Dabry/Cotte FRA on rank 3. ----- In the Dragons, Dirk Oldenburg GER sailing under Swiss flag won the only race. Andy Beadsworth GBR/TUR followed on rank 2. ----- The news. ----- On the opening day, the Dragons completed one, the Starboats three races. Yesterday, circling winds and heavy thunderstorms inhibited racing, and the Classics and 5.5m could not yet join the competition. The report.
Last Sunday, the 7th edition of the 'Bastong da Brissag', organized by the Regataclub Lago Maggiore RCLM, took place with 19 boats on the entry list. Bruno Caratsch YCAs on an Esse 850 was the winner ahead of Giulio Tallachini LN Varese on his Melges 24, and Peter Frey YCLo on a J/70 with Flavio Favini ITA steering.
