Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship 2019 - Porto POR - Final results, the Swiss

 Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship 2019 - Porto POR - Final results, the Swiss Yesterday, the Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS had his worst day (ranks 11/18) and tumbled from the top to 4th in the final Open Trophy rankings. But the victory went to Australia anyway with Matthew Wearn AUS passing Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR remaining on 2nd. Sam Meech NZL followed on the 3rd place. Chiavarini GBR takes the European Championship title with Nick Thompson GBR and Philipp Buhl GER completing the podium. Eliot Merceron SUI finished the Championship on the 31st position, Nicolas Rolaz SUI is 117th among the 157 participants. The ranking list Open Trophy Standards.
In the Lasers Radial, Anne-Marie Rindom DEN demonstrated once more her superiority winning the second-last race and grasping the title prematurely. Marit Bouwmeester NED reclaimed rank 2 ahead of Emma Plaesschart BEL finishing on 3rd. Maud Jayet SUI terminated the series on rank 14, Rosine Baudet SUI followed on the 96th place. No position changes in the Radial men with Aleksander Arian POL winning the title ahead of Marcin Rudawski POL and Ben Elvin GBR. Erwan Lamoureux SUI finished 19th among the 41 participants. The ranking list Radial men.
Sun and moderate winds prevailed in Portugal allowing to complete two good races to conclude the 2019 Laser Standard and Radial European Championship attended by 323 sailors from 5 continents.

Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2019 - Hyères FRA - Final results, the Swiss

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2019 - Hyères FRA - Final results, the Swiss Winning the final race, Alessia Palanti ITA replaced the leading Ursula Balas CRO on rank 1. Sara Savelli ITA earned Bronze. Anja Von Allmen SUI on 4th missed the podium by 3 points only. Jade Gavin SUI finished 24th, and with Emilie Tschanz SUI on rank 55, a third Swiss is in the first half of the rankings. The ranking list Girls.
In the Boys, Yogev Alcalay ISR wins the title followed by Georgios Papadakos GRE and Jordy Llado ESP. The best Swiss Eliott Raison SUI in on rank 33 among the 267 participants. The ranking list Boys.
Light winds prevailed on the last day of the Laser 4.7 Youth European Championship in Hyeres FRA with the final two races completed by the over 400 young sailors from 35 nations.

Yann Guichard FRA with his 'Spindrift' has taken the overall lead one points ahead of 'GAC Pindar' with Ian Williams GBR. Richard Davies SUI (with Chris Rast SUI) follows on rank 4.

 Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship - Porto POR - Day 5, the Swiss Before the last races of today, the Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS has a 9 point lead on Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR. Matthew Wearn AUS on 3rd and Philipp Buhl GER as best of the day (1/4) new on rank 4 will fight for the Medals today. As second-best European, Buhl, only 7 points behind Chiavarini, has the chance for the continental title . Eliot Merceron SUI advanced on rank 33. The Standard ranking list.
Anne-Marie Rindom DEN keeps on dominating the Radial women with a 19 point advantage on Emma Plaesschart BEL, best of the day (1/2), replacing Marit Bouwmeester NED on rank 2. Maud Jayet SUI remains on rank 18. The Radial women ranking list.
Two Polish Laser Radial men will duel for the title today: Aleksander Arian POL or Marcin Rudawski POL 9 points behind can hardly be removed from the top places in the Radial men ranking list. Ben Elvin GBR on 3rd is 32 points behind. Erwan Lamoureux SUI follows on rank 17.
Much wind prevailed on the second-last day of the Laser Standard and Radial Open Trophy (all competitors) and European Championship (Europeans only) competition in Porto POR.

'INEOS' with Ben Ainslie GBR (and Giles Scott GBR) - winner of the only race on the opening day - follows 4 points behind on 3rd. 'Alinghi', steered by Ernesto Bertarelli SUI, is new on rank 4 after a successful day (except race 3 with equipment failure and rank 10), including a race win. The newcomer 'Black Star Racing Team' with Flavio Marazzi SUI is down on rank 10.

Matthew Wearn AUS remained on 3rd. Pavlos Kontides CYP, best of the day, moved up on the 4th place. Eliot Merceron SUI, sailing in the Goldfleet is 45th. The ranking list Standards.
A class of her own is Anne-Marie Rindom DEN in the Radial women. Finishing 1 and 3 yesterday, she increased her lead on 33 points ! Her worst result is a 3rd place.  Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2019 - Hyères FRA - Day 4, the Swiss Ricard Castelvi ESP is the new leader in the Laser 4.7 Boys, just one point ahead of Georgios Papadakos GRE. Manuel Garcia ESP advanced on the 3rd place. Benjamin Dufour SUI and Eliot Raison SUI occupy the ranks 49 and 51 in the Goldfleet. The ranking list Boys.

 J/70 - Sailing Champions League 2019 - Qualifier 2 - Porto Cervo ITA - Day 1, the Swiss In Porto Cervo/Sardinia ITA, 24 Clubs representing 16 European nations sailed the first four races at the second Qualifiers for the European Champions League Final to be held in St-Moritz SUI in August. On top of the leader board after the first day are at equal points the SV Kreuzlingen SUI with Tom Rüegge SUI (3 bullets), the RC Bodensee SUI with Julian Flessati SUI, the VSa Wannsee GER and Circolo della Vela ITA.

 GC32-Catamaran - Racing Tour 2019 - Villasimius ITA - Day 1, the Swiss The America's Cup 'INEOS' Team started to the first Act of the 2019 GC32 Racing Tour on Sardinia with a top crew, i.e. Ben Ainslie GBR steering and Giles Scott GBR as tactician, and won the only race of the day. 'Norauto' with Franck Cammas FRA follows on 2nd, 'Oman Air' of Phil Robertson NZL on 3rd.  Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship - Porto POR - Day 3, the Swiss After the two light-wind races concluding the qualification phase at the Laser Europeans in Porto POR, the Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS moved on top of the Standards with the day ranks 1 and 2 in his group. Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR follows 3 points behind on 2nd. Eliott Hansen GBR is new on 3rd. The World Champion Pavlos Kontides CYP follows on rank 19. Eliot Merceron SUI on rank 45 is qualified for the Goldfleet, Nicolas Rolaz 117th and Cyrill Knecht SUI 158the will sail in the Silverfleet.
Anne-Marie Rindom DEN extended her lead in the Laser Radial women on 12 points. Tuula Tenkanen FIN - best of the day with the ranks 1 and 2 in her group - follows now on 2nd. The Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED advanced on rank 3. Maud Jayet SUI is on the way up and with the ranks 5 and 6 yesterday, she is now on 17th overall. Rosine Baudet SUI on rank 73 will continue the Championship in the Silverfleet.
Im the Lasers Radial men, Aleksander Arian POL is now first 3 points ahead of Marcin Rudawski POL. Andrea Crisi ITA on the 3rd place is the best U21 sailor. Erwan Lamoureux SUI won a race and is now 10th.

 Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship 2019 - Porto POR - Day 2, the Swiss After the races 3 and 4 of yesterday, Luke Elliot AUS has taken the overall lead in the Lasers Standard ahead of Kaarle Tapper FIN one point behind. Tonci Stipanovic CRO moved up on 3rd thanks after the discard. Eliot Merceron SUI finished 8/8 in his group and advanced on rank 38 overall.

In the Lasers Radial women, Anne-Marie Rindom DEN is now on top with two bullets followed by Sarah Douglas CAN 7 points behind on rank 2. Emma Plaeschart BEL is new on 3rd. With a 2nd race rank, Maud Jayet progressed on rank 28.

Aleksander Arian POL defended his lead in the Radial men 6 points in front of Andrea Crisi ITA. Ben Elvin GBR advanced on rank 3. Erwan Lamoureux SUI dropped on the 16th place.

A fresher breeze prevailed yesterday after the light winds on the opening day and all three classes completed two races according to schedule.

 Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship 2019 - Porto POR - Day 1, the Swiss Two races were held in light winds on the opening day of the Laser Standard and Radial European Championship in Porto POR.

In the Lasers Standard, Philipp Buhl GER, Joaquin Blanco ESP, Nils Broehhuizen NED and Fynn Lynch IRL are on top with 5 points each. The best ranked favorites so far are Matthew Wearn AUS on 10th and the Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS on 15th. Rather disappointing were however Sam Meech NZL as 31st, Nick Thompson GBR as 35th, Tonci Stipanovic CRO as 39th and the World Champion Pavlos Kontides CYP as 43rd. The best Swiss is Eliot Merceron SUI on rank 71. Nicolas Rolaz SUI follows as 85th.

Shazrin Mohamad MAS was the only woman winning both races of her group in the Lasers Radial. She leads 3 points ahead of Anne-Marie Rindom DEN. Martina Reino ESP follows on 3rd. The Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED is 10th. The best Swiss Rosine Baudet SUI follows as 48th, Maud Jayet SUI is 59th.

The Laser Radial Men leader is Martim Fernandes POR one point in front of Aleksander Arian POL. On rank 3 follows Francesco Miseri ITA. Erwan Lamoureux SUI is on the good 9th place and 4th in the U21 rankings.

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2019 - Hyères FRA - Day 1, the Swiss The Laser 4.7 European Championship began yesterday with two races in each of the 4 Boys and 2 Girls fleets in a fresh Westwind from the shore.
The quintet Roko Stipanovic CRO, Nicolo Nordera ITA, Paul Hameeteman NED, Jordi Llado ESP and Georgios Papadakos GRE share the lead, all with the ranks 1 and 2 yesterday. The only Swiss in the the top-100 among the 257 participants is Eliott Raison as 57th. The ranking list Boys.
Marissa Ijben NED is the first girl 2 points ahead of Maria-Giulia Cicchine ITA. Anja Von Allmen SUI follows on the good 14th place, Jade Gavin SUI is on rank 35 among the 130 participants. The ranking list Girls.

 Classes ACVL - Route du Rhône - CV Vevey La Tour Good attention but little wind at the Route du Rhône on Lake Geneva. In the TCFX-rankings, François Thorens CVVT with his Psaros 40 won the duel against the Psaros 33 of Michael Wettstein CNM. Manuel Godin CVMC with his Luthi finished first in the TCF2 rankings ahead of Alexandre Massard CNM on an Esse850. First in the largest fleet with 11 teams, the TCF3 rankings, was Yvan Berger CVVT on a 6.5m yacht.

 Nacra 15, RS Feva - Régate - CN Morges The Nacra-15 and RS-Feva sailed 5 races on Lake Geneva off Morges over the past weekend.
Dominating the youth catamaran Nacra 15 fleet with three bullets were Elouane Gäumann/Noëmi Fehlmann CNM, ahead of Andrea Aschieri/Aurélien Castro SNNy and Emma Jonsson/Basile Wohlers SNG. 10 teams were present.
In the RS-Feva, Alex Bossel/Niklas Shaw CVVT finished first ahead of Patricia Winssinger/Hugo Winssinger SNNy. 6 teams were present.

Mai 2019 The wind was too light or absent on many Swiss lakes over the past weekend, such as the Pirat/Corsaire event in Altnau/Lake Constance, the Schoggi-Cup in Kilchberg/Lake Zurich, the Season Opening on Lake Walen and the Régate d'ouverture in Yvonnand/Lake Neuchâtel. We reported yesterday and today on the available results. Star - European Championship 2019/SSL Breeze Grand Slam - Riva ITA - Final results, the Swiss

 Star - European Championship 2019/SSL Breeze Grand Slam - Riva ITA - Final results, the Swiss In the last downwind of the much disputed Final Race with the four best of the 95 boat fleet, Scheidt/Boening BRA passed the leading Rohart/Ponsot FRA on the finish line winning the Star European Championship and SSL Breeze Grand Slam grasping the 20'000 $ prize money. Cayard/Lopes USA/BRA in front during half of this last race finished on rank 3. Kusznierwicz POL/Melo POR, directly qualified for the Final as leaders after the qualification fleetraces, followed on rank 4. The best of the three Swiss teams were Urs Hunkeler SUI with the Austrian Olympian and Volvo Ocean Race veteran Andreas Hanakamp AUT on rank 38.
Under an overcast sky and some rain, a 15-20kn cool Northwind prevailed on Lake Garda during an intensive race day with the 9th and last qualification race started at 7:30 UTC, followed by the knock-out phase with the Quarterfinal, Semifinal and Final.

 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - European Championship 2019 - Weymouth GBR - Final results, Schneiter/Cujean SUI Only very light winds prevailed on the final day of the combined European Championship of the three speed olympic classens. The Medal Race of the 49er had even to be cancelled.

In the 49ersFX , the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA remained on top thanks to their huge advantage after the qualification phase winning the title ahead of Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED and the Medal Race winners Helene Naess/ Marie Rönningen NOR. The very light winds, keeping the Nacra-17 non-foiling during most of the races, reshuffled the rankings considerably. The clearly leading Ruggero Tita/Catarina Banti ITA finished last in the Medal Race and were relegated on rank 4 overall. First of the crucial race were Ben Saxton/Nicola Boniface GBR grasping the European Champions title ahead of John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBRto make it a GBR one-two. The 49ers sailed a last qualification race in the morning. The Medal Race in the afternoon had to be cancelled due to lack of wind. The Olymipic Champions Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL coming back after their successful engagements in the America s Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race were the clear overall winners ahead Dylan Fletscher/Stuart Bithell GBR and James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR. Sébastien Schneider/Lucien Cujean SUI finished the Championship on rank 11.  Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2019 - Hyères FRA - Start today Today is day one of the Laser 4.7 European Championship in Hyères FRA with 409 participants from 35 nations, split in Girls and Boys fleets, on the entry lists, including a large Swiss delegation. Finn - European Championship 2019 - Athens GRE - Final results, Nils Theunick SUI 22nd

 Finn - European Championship 2019 - Athens GRE - Final results, Nils Theunick SUI 22nd Calms over Athens kept the fleet ashore during the whole day and only 10 minutes before the last start deadline, the sail-off for the ranks 11 to 80 could be started. The Medal Race had to be cancelled.
Giles Scott GBR is the 2019 European Champion, another title in his successful career. Andy Maloney NZL and Beresz Zsombor HUN earned Silver and Bronze. Juan Cardona ESP is first in the U23 Junior rankings. In the duel for the remaining two 2020 Olympic nation berths - Norway and Brazil were qualified being in the Medal Race fleet - the USA with Caleb Paine and Greece with Ioannis Mitakis were the lucky ones. Switzerland with Nils Theuninck SUI finished the race on 8th defending rank 11 overall, not only taking the Olympia berth but also the U23 title. However, disqualified having been involved in a collision at a mark, the Swiss dropped on the 22nd place overall, and Bronze in the U23 rankings was all that remained. His last opportunity to qualify for Tokyo 2020 is now the 2020 Worldcup Regatta in Genoa ITA.

 Star - European Championship/Breeze Grand Slam - Riva ITA - Day 4, the Swiss After three days with the Ora thermal breeze filling in in the afternoon, a wind not allowing many tactical options on Lake Garda, two races had to be sailed in the morning Northwind, the Peller, with many wind shifts, that stayed all day. Kusznierwicz POL/Melo POR took the overall lead with the day ranks 1 and 3. Scheidt/Boening BRA on 2nd are 5 points behind. Negri ITA/Kleen GER remain on 3rd.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - European Championship 2019 - Weymouth GBR - Day 5 - Schneiter/Cujean SUI 10th The Olympic Champions Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL reclaimed rank one in the 49ers in the three races sailed yesterday in moderate winds. Botin/Lopez ESP follow on the second place with a 5 point backlog. Fletcher/Bithell GBR advanced on rank 3. Today the qualification series will be concluded with the ten best qualified for the Medal Race of Sunday. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI on rank 10 have a good chance to make the cut. The overcast sky killed the thermal breeze yesterday and the very light Southwind was barely good enough to conclude one race with Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening BRA crossing the finish line as first. Disqualifed for a premature start, the victory went to Mateusz Kuznierewicz POL/Frederico Melo POR new on rank 2 overall just 2 points behind Scheidt/Boening BRA. Diego Negri ITA/Frithjof Kleen GER remain on 3rd. A top results yesterday achieved Tom Löfsted/Anders Ekström SWE (rank 3) and Urs Hunkeler SUI/Andreas Hanakamp AUT (rank 10). Giles Scott GBR extended his lead in the Finn Europeans on 15 points during the three races sailed yesterday in sun and a light but increasing wind in Athens GRE. New on rank 2 is the World Champion Berecz Zsombor HUN. Andy Maloney NZL is now on rank 3. A giant step ahead on rank 11 made Nils Theuninck SUI with the ranks 1/2/15 yesterday. He has taken the lead in the U23-rankging and - most important -, SUI occupies now the 3rd of 4 berths available for the 2020 Olympic Regatta in Tokyo. Anders Pedersen NOR (rank 9, 102 pts), Jorge Zarif BRA (rank 10, 103 pts), Nils Theuninck SUI (rank 11, 112 pts) and the 2016 Bronze medalist Caleb Paine USA (rank 12, 120 pts) are the lucky four for the moment.  Dragon, Trias, Folkeboot - Eichhorn-Regatta - Constance GER - Final results. the Swiss Benefitting from the excellent sailing conditions on Lake Constance, the traditional boat classes completed five races each over the past weekend.
In the Dragons (14 teams), Andy Herrmann GER and his team finished first ahead of Jürg Wittwer SUI/TYC and Norbert Stadler SUI/SGYC. Winning 4 of the 5 races, Dieter Keller GER and his team were the clear winners in the Trias (12 teams). Andreas Loewe GER and Mario Fattorini SUI/YCSp completed the podium. In the Folkeboats (12 teams), Alexander Denn GER was first. Nico Altweg SUI/YCK and Yvon Begré SUI YCA followed on the ranks 11 and 12.

 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - European Championship 2019 - Weymouth GBR- Day 3, Schneiter/Cujean SUI Yesterday, Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL remained on top of the 49ers in the last three qualification series races to split the fleet in Gold and Silver groups. Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP reduced the backlog on just one point. On rank 3 followed Logan Dunning/Oscar Gunn NZL. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI won a race and moved up on the 21st place, qualifying for the Goldfleet. The 49er report.

Eight past World Champions (the reigning World Champ Jorge Zarif BRA is at the Finn Europeans) ruled the show on day one of the Starboat European Championship / SSL Breeze Grand Slam on Lake Garda: Robert Scheidt/Henry Boenning BRA are 1st ahead of Paul Cayard/Artur Lopes USA and Mateusz Kusznierewicz POL/Fernando Melo POR. Urs Hunkeler SUI/Andreas Hanakamp AUT follow as best of the three Swiss teams on rank 44.

 49er, 49erFX, Nacra-17 - European Championship 2019 - Weymouth GBR - Day 2, Schneiter/Cujean SUI The America's Cup winners Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL are strongly back on their native turf - the Olympic skiff - winning all three races of their group in a fresh 16-18kn wind in Wemouth GBR yesterday. One point behind the Olympic Champions are Botin/Lopez ESP. Philipps/Philipps AUS moved up on rank 3. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI finished all three races in the top-10 and advanced on rank 23 overall. The 49er-results and the 49er report.
Sailing in the harbour with the wind from the shore, the 49ersFX held their races on flat water, and Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR, best of the day, climbed on top of the overall rankings at equal points with the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA.  Finn - European Championship 2019 - Athens GRE - Day 2, Nils Theuninck SUI Winning two of the three races, the Olympic Champion Giles Scott GBR has taken the lead in the overall rankings of the Finn European Championship. After the windless opening day, a 10-15kn breeze enjoyed the 84 participants in Athens GRE yesterday. Andy Maloney NZL followed on rank 2, the World Champion Beresz Zsombor HUN is on 3rd. Nils Theuninck SUI on rank 15 and 2nd of the U23 rankings had a satisfactory first day. However, as 6th non-qualified nation for the 2020 Olympics so far, he will have to fight for one of the four berths for Tokyo based on the Finn selection rules.
