Laser Standard & Radial - U21 European Championship 2016 - Split CRO - Day 2, the Swiss

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 European Championship 2016 - Split CRO - Day 2, the Swiss Sun and fresh winds prevailed also on the second day of the Laser U21 Europeans, and all three fleets completed 2 races each.
In the Lasers Standard as at the U21 Worlds in Kiel, the duel between Jonatan Vadnai HUN and Joel Rodriguez ESP seems to continue. They occupy the top two ranks separated be one point only. Joan Cardona ESP follows on the 3rd place. Jonatan Vadnai HUN is also leading in the U19 rankings. Among the best of the day was also Nils Theuninck SUI, advancing on the 6th position thanks to a race win in his group. Luciano Antonietti SUI (rank 54) and Janik Roempp SUI (rank 58) have to improve their performance to make the Goldfleet of the 43 best.
In the Radials, the new leader is Sandra Lulic CRO 3 points ahead of Marie Barrué FRA. Anna Zelic CRO is now 3rd. Maud Jayet SUI could not quite follow the best and is now down on the 8th place, still an excellent result. Lucie Ben-Amor SUI is 16th.

 Platu 25 - World Championship 2016 - RV Brunnen SUI - Day 1 The Platu-25 World Championship in Brunnen SUI began yesterday with two races sailed in an excellent Lake Uri thermal breeze. Eric Monnin SUI, newcomer in the class, won both races. Thomas Laherstorfer AUT finished twice on rank 2. On rank 3 follows the defending champion Francesco Lanera ITA. Matthias Bermejo SUI follows one point behind on rank 4.

Flying Phantom - Swiss Flying Phantom Series - CV Vallée de Joux

 Flying Phantom - Swiss Flying Phantom Series - CV Vallée de Joux On the occasion of the Bol d'Or on the Lac de Joux, the foiler catamarans Flying Phantom sailed their 2nd round of the Swiss Series. Three short races were sailed in rain on Saturday, the Bol d'Or long-distance race followed on Sunday. 'Realteam 2' with Bruno Barbarin/Cédric Schmidt was first ahead of 'Team Tilt' with Alex Schneiter/..Siegwart.

Laser Standard & Radial - U21 European Championship 2016 - Split CRO - Day 1, the Swiss

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 European Championship 2016 - Split CRO - Day 1, the Swiss A fresh 20-25 kn breeze prevailed in Split CRO yesterday on the first day of the U21-European Championship of the Lasers Standard and Radial. The winners of the U21-Worlds in Kiel as well as the two top Swiss U21 sailors Nils Theuninck SUI and Maud Jayet SUI, among the best in Kiel, are on the list of participants.
The 85 Lasers Standard are sailing in two groups. Day winners were Maxim Nikolaev RUS and Juan Cardona ESP. Nils Theuninck SUI finished 7th in his group and is 13th overall. Janik Roempp SUI follows as 29th.
The Lasers Radial are sailing in one group. Marie Barrué FRA won the first race ahead of Sandra Lulic CRO and Ana Zelic CRO. Maud Jayet SUI follows on rank 7, Lucie Ben-Amor SUI was 13th.

Platu 25 - World Championship 2016 - RV Brunnen SUI - Start today

 Platu 25 - World Championship 2016 - RV Brunnen SUI - Start today Perfect Lake Uri thermal breeze conditions prevailed on the first day of the Platu-25-World Championship 2016 with the Practice Race. Today, the 30 teams from 10 nations will start racing. Favorites are the experienced Italian teams, but Thomas Laherstorfer AUT, Matthias Bermejo SUI or Tom Studer SUI are also names to expect among the best. Interesting will also be the premiere of the Match Race World Ranking top- 5 helmsman Eric Monnin SUI for the first time starting on a Platu. The event website.
The Platu Worlds is the main event of this year's Windweek in Brunnen SUI. On the coming weekend, the Lake Lucerne 50-Miles-Trophy will finish at the venue, and the Regio-Cup of the Central-Switzerland Youth teams will take place. Windsurfing - Swiss Championship 2016 - Silvaplana - Final results

 Windsurfing - Swiss Championship 2016 - Silvaplana - Final results The weather change over Europe, forcing the organisers to abandon the traditional - 39th edition - Engadine Marathon, stayed on during Sunday as well, and no racing was possible for the Formula Course-Racer and the Slalom Specialists.
With 4 races completed, the Course-Race Swiss Championship could be validated, whereas the Slalom Swiss Championship with only one run is not valid. The 2016 Swiss Champion is Sebastian Kördel GER ahead of Nico Prien GER 2nd and Richard Stauffacher SUI 3rd. Heidi Ulrich SUI is the best-ranked woman.

Windsurfing - Swiss Championship 2016 - Silvaplana - Day 3

 Windsurfing - Swiss Championship 2016 - Silvaplana - Day 3 With the weather change yesterday, th Maloja thermal breeze started to fill in, but not always stable. Nevertheless, two race have been completed by the Formula races, while the Slalom specialists finished one round.
Sebastian Kördel GER win race 3 of the Formula fleet ahead of Richard Stauffacher SUI and Nico Prien GER. Richard Stauffacher was first in the second heat of the day: race 4 ahead of Nico Prien GER and Elia Colombo SUI. Overall leader is Bastian Kördel GER ahead of Nico Prien GER and Richard Stauffacher SUI.
In the women's rankings, the young Swiss Romande Marion Froideveaux knapp was first ahead of Heidi Ulrich. Overall leader after 4 races is Heidi Ulrich in front of Marion Froidevaux.
The unconstant wind did not allow to terminate the Slalom Final that had to be abandoned several time. Winner in the women's fleet was Karin Jaggi followed by Marion Froidevaux and Heidi Ulrich after a tight duel decided just on the finish line.

 OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Final results The last Swiss team in action were Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI in the 470 men Medal Race. Attacking on the preferred side on the first upwind, they distanced the rest of the fleet right from the beginning and won the Medal Race with a considerable advantage.  Mini 650 - Les Sables-Les Acores-Les Sables - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Leg 2 - Final results After Ambrogio Beccaria ITA arriving as first in the Series Minis - we reported yesterday - the complete fleet crossed the finish line in the Sables d'Olonne within 20 hours. Tanguy Bourroulec FRA on rank 2 with a 37 minutes backlog is the overall winner as he was first in lew 1. Yann Burkhalter SUI finished on the good 6th place, Valentin Gautier SUI follows on rank 10. The overall ranking list after the two legs has not yet been published this morning on the event website.

Mini 650 - Les Sables-Les Acores-Les Sables - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Leg 2 - Day 7, the Swiss

 Mini 650 - Les Sables-Les Acores-Les Sables - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Leg 2 - Day 7, the Swiss During the past night, Ian Lipinski POL has crossed the finish line in the Sables d'Olonne as winner of the Protos Minis. Alberto Bona ITA, sailing on a conventional Proto did quite well against the round-bow Proto of Lipinkski arriving only 2 hours after the Polish.
The first Series Mini with Ambrogio Beccaria ITA reached the arrival at 3.30h CET. Tanguy Bouroullec FRA and Germain Kerleveo FRA will arrive shortly this morning. Yann Burkhalter SUI advanced on rank 6 with a 15 miles backlog. Valentin Gautier SUI dropped on rank 10 with a 21 miles deficit.

OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Day 9 - the Swiss

 OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Day 9 - the Swiss For the first time since 1992, a Swiss team started with chances for a Medal to the last race. Unfortunately, Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI failed as last in the Medal Race, and finished 7th overall being awarded an Olympic Diploma. A Diploma is also within the reach of Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI who will start to the 470 Medal Race today as 10th, 13 points behind rank 8. Not qualified for the Medal Race however are Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI, who had their worst day and dropped on rank 14 with an 8 points' gap on rank 10.
A positive final day had Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI in the 49ers: With the ranks 5/17/5, they concluded the Olympic Regatta on rank 13 overall.

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Final results, the Swiss No wind on the last day of the U21 Laser Standard and Radial World Championship 2016 in Kiel.
The expected duel between the leading Jonatan Vadnai HUN and the defending Champion Joel Rodriguez ESP 3 points behind did therefore not take place. Nik Willim GER earned Bronze. Nils Theuninck SUI finished the Championship on the excellent 9th place. Janik Roempp SUI, sailing in the Silverfleet is 82nd and Luciano Antonietti SUI 124th among the 148 participants.
Monika Mikkola FIN had her Radial World's title already the day before yesterday. Vasileia Karachaliou GRE and Maité Carlier BEL grasped Silver and Bronze. Maud Jayet SUI on rank 5 missed a medal by one point only. Andrea Nordquist SUI on the 18th place and Lucie Ben-Amor SUI as 25th complemented the good Swiss results.

 OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Day 8 - the Swiss The only Swiss team in action yesterday were Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI. As light-weights, they had difficulties in the steady 15 kn breeze on the offshore course and they dropped on rank 18. The Medal Race qualification in the three races today will therefore be difficult. Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI will sail the most important race of their career today. As 5th in the Nacra 17, they will be in the middle of the fight for Medals today. The gap for Gold is 15 points, the Bronze Medal is 8 points away. We keep the fingers cross.
The 470s will conclude their qualifications for the Medal Race with three races today. Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser have to defend their 8th place with a reserve of 10 points on rank 11. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI on the 12th place are only 4 points behind the Medal Race cut.

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 5 Light winds prevailed on the 5th day of the Laser U21 Worlds in Kiel. Two races per fleet were sailed in a 6-8 kn wind.
The title winner in the girls is known before the last races today. Monika Mikkola FIN was a class of her own also in the light wind finishing 1 and 2 in the Lasers Radial. She has now a 16 points lead and the ranks 5 and 6 as discards and cannot be overtaken any more. Vasileia Karachaliou GRE advanced on rank 2 with a 10 points' advantage on Maité Carlier BEL. Only one points back are Valentina Balbi ITA and Maud Jayet SUI, a trio fighting today for Bronze.
In the Lasers Standard, a duel between Jonatan Vadnai HUN and the defending champion Joel Rodriguez ESP 3 points behind will happen. Nik Willim GER on rank 3 is already 25 points behind. Nils Theuninck SUI, sailing in the Goldfleet, was not at ease in the light winds and is down on rank 9.

 Yardstick, H-Boot, X-99 - Tag und Nacht-Regatta - Altnauer SC The Altnau Night and Day Regatta was started last Saturday at 20h. In ligfh winds, the fastest boats finished the race in a little more as 3 hours. Winner in the Yardstick rating 1 was Sammy Smits SUI with his Libera 'Carondimonio', in the Yardstick rating 2, the Dyas of Felix Schrimper GER was first. Christoph Goetze GER was on top of the Yardstick rating 3.

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 4, the Swiss Three more races were sailed yesterday in moderate winds, and the Lasers Standard have herewith concluded the Qualification Series for the Gold- and Silverfleet split.
Jonatan Vadnai HUN remains on top of the Lasers Standard, but the defending Champion Joel Rodriguez ESP reduced the backlog to one point. Nik Willim GER on the 3rd place is already 17 points behind. Nils Theuninck SUI had a perfect day - ranks 2 and 1 in his group - and advanced on rank 5 overall. Janik Roempp SI on rank 75 just missed the Goldfleet.
Monika Mikkola FIN extended her lead in the Lasers Radial on 13 points. Thanks to a race win, Maud Jayet SUI remained on rank 2 overall. Maité Carlier BEL is now 9 points behind the Swiss. Elie Cumpsty GBR and Marie Barrué FRA follow on the ranks 4 and 5.

Mini 650 - Les Sables-Les Acores-Les Sables - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Leg 2 - Day 4, the Swiss

 Mini 650 - Les Sables-Les Acores-Les Sables - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Leg 2 - Day 4, the Swiss 500 miles before the finish, a leader change happened in the Series Minis. A northern group took advantage of the fresher breeze. Germain Kerlevo FRA and Ambrogio Beccaria ITA lead practically neck-on-neck and Aurélien Poisson FRA follows 10 miles behind on rank 3. Valentin Gautier SUI reduced his backlog by half and is now on the 8th place 50 miles behind the first. Yann Burkhalter SUI follows as 12th with a 103 miles backlog. Ian Lipinski POL on top of the Protos Minis lost again some miles and is now only 30 miles ahead of Alberto Bona ITA.

OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Day 6 - the Swiss

Yesterday. Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI in the Nacras and Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI in the 49ers were on the water in a 10-12 kn breeze.
The young Geneva team sailed a sensational first race finishing on rank 4, followed by two mid-fleet races. Rank 13, only 9 points behind the Medal Race cut in the World's top skiff fleet at half-time of the Qualifications is outstanding.
Keeping their solid Medal Race course are Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI in the Nacras. With yesterday's ranks 10/7/5, the are 8th overall. Today, the last 3 Quaification races will be sailed and ths Swiss mixed-team should be able to defend the Medal Race berth being 14 points ahead of rank 11 this morning.
The 470s resume racing after the lay day with Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI on the 9th and Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI the 13th interim's ranks. Both team have good chances to be within the top-10s after the 5 races left to sail for Medals or Diplomas (top 8) on the final day.

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 2, the Swiss An 8-12 breeze filled in on day two of the Laser Standard and Radial U21 Worlds in Kiel after some race postponements.
Monika Mikkola FIN defended the first place ahead of Marie Barrue FRA and Maité Carlier GER. Maud Jayet SUI dropped on rank 4. The situation remains very open as the rank 1 to 5 are separated by 7 points only. Andrea Nordquist SUI is 22nd, Lucie Ben-Amor SUI 29th. The results.
Joel Rodriguez ESP won another race and is now 4 points ahead of Jonatan Vadnai HUN. Nik Aaron Willim GER is 3rd. Nils Theuninck SUI lost two places and is now 14th. The results.

OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Day 4 - the Swiss

 OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 - Rio de Janeiro BRA - Day 4 - the Swiss Fresher as expected was the wind in Rio yesterday, especially on the offshore courses with up to 30 kn. The only Swiss surviving well were Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI in the 470 men defending their 7th rank overall with a 7th race rank. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI in the 470 women capsized, but nevertheless they remained on rank 14 overall only 4 points bewind rank 10, the cut for the Medal Race. Today, the 470s have their lay day.
Out of the top three are Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI in the Nacra-17 catamarans. With the day ranks 6/19/11/18, they are down on rank 7.
The light-wind specialist Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI fighted yesterday mostly in the middle of the fleet. On rank 14 overall with 8 points on rank 10, his chances to make the Medal Race are still valid.
Today, the last Swiss team, Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI in the 49ers, start to their first Olympic race.

 Laser Standard & Radial - U21 World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 1, the Swiss The U21 World Championship of the Lasers Standard and Radial began yesterday in Kiel in sunshine and a fresh breeze. Both fleets sailed two races each.
The day's race winners in the Radial fleet - 57 boats together - were Monika Mikkola FIN and Maud Jayet SUI. Mikkola FIN (1/4) leads overall one point ahead of the Swiss and Maité Carlier BEL at equal points. Andrea Nordquist SUI follows on rank 14, Lucie Ben-Amor SUI is 28th. The ranking list.
The 144 Lasers Standard are split in two groups in the Qualification Series. With the ranks 1/2, the defending champion Joel Rodriguez ESP has already taken the lead. Jonatan Vadnai HUN and Santiago Sampaio POR follow on rank 2 at equal points. Nils Theuninck SUI had a good first day and is on the 12th place. The Laser Standard ranking list.

 Match Racing - Women's International Match Racing - Lyseskil SWE - Day 3, Alexa Bezel SUI The Round Robin of the WIM at the Swedish West Coast was concluded yesterday with the favorites on the first positions. Camilla Ulrikkeholm DEN is on top with 8-1 w/l. Anna Östling SWE, Lotte Meldgard-Pedersen DEN and Stephanie Roble USA follow with 7-2 each. Alexa Bezel SUI is also qualified for the Quarter Finals with a 4-5 score.
