Olympic Classes - Last Chance Regatta - Hyères FRA - Day 4

Even before today's Medal Races, Elena Lengwiler SUI, the dominator of the Formula Kite women, has already been confirmed as an Olympic participant: the top two in the qualifications have qualified directly for the final of the Medal Race and are therefore guaranteed one of the 5 Olympic starting places. With shifting winds, the Mistral could only partially prevail, but all classes could sail at least 2 races. ----- In the 470, Anton Dahlberg/Lovisa Karlsson SWE took the lead with 1st and 2nd place on the day. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI had to accept another early start disqualification in the second race, and again, they lost a 2nd place. This dropped them back to 20th place. ----- In the 49er, Bart Lambriex/Floris Van de Werken NED are now one point ahead of Dominik Buksak/Szymon Wierzbicki POL. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI follow in 11th place. ----- Odile Van Aanholt/Annette Duetz NED now lead the 49ersFX by 9 points ahead of Vilma Bobeck/Rebecca Netzler SWE. ----- In the ILCA 6, Marit Bouwmeester NED has taken the lead. Fresh winds also on the third day of the Last Chance Regatta. ----- Elena Lengwiler SUI continued her women's kite foil series with three race wins. Gauthier Verhulst SUI, 5th in the ILCA 7, is now also in a qualifying position. The two Swiss Nacras are only just behind: Axel Grandjean/Noëmi Fehlmann SUI are now 8th (6th nation), Andrea Aschieri/Anja Camusso SUI follow in 10th place. The Swiss kiteboarders are also not too far behind the 7 nations starting places with in 11th (Bruce Kessler SUI) and 13th (Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI). Bad luck for Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI, who lost a 2nd place in the race due to an early start and dropped back to 17th place. ----- On the other hand, Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI improved to 10th place in the 49ers, with Bart Lambriex/Floris Van de Werken NED in the lead. ----- Odile Van Aanholt/Annette Duetz NED are now first in the 49erFX. ----- An Australian double lead through Casey Imeneo AUS and Mara Stransky AUS in ILCA 6. On the second day of qualifications for the last Olympic starting places, another full program was sailed in inconsistent winds between 12 and 15 knots. ----- Elena Lengwiler SUI extended her lead in the women's kite foil with 3 race wins. ----- Connor Bainbridge GBR is the clear leader in the men's Formula Kite. Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI moved up to 10th place (6th nation). ----- Khairulnizam Mohd Affendi MAS has taken the lead in ILCA 7. Kite Boarding - Big Air World Cup - Barcarès FRA - Final results

The first Big Air World Cup of the year was held on the French Mediterranean coast. Kiteboarding's most spectacular discipline benefited from fresh winds, with the Tramontana blowing at around 30 knots on the final day. The Dutch provided the surprises: In the women's event, Pippa Van Iersel NED made an impressive comeback with a victory after a 2-year injury break. Wingfoil - World Cup - Mondial du vent - Leucate FRA - Final results

Olympic Worldcup - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Final results

The Medal Races were decided yesterday in very light winds. The 470s and the 49erFX didn't sail at all. ----- Camille Lecointre/Jérémy Mion FRA won the qualification of the 470 by a narrow one-point margin over Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP. Malte and Anastasyi Winkel GER follow in third place. ----- Michael Beckett GBR was already the winner of the ILCA 7 before the Medal Race. Philipp Buhl GER and Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA took the places of honor. ----- In the ILCA 6, Maria Erdi HUN took victory ahead of Zoë Thompson AUS and Matilda Nicholls GBR. Maud Jayet SUI improved to 7th place. ----- Diego Botin/Florian Trittel ESP won the 49ers, while Hernan Umpierre/Fernando Diaz URU moved up to 2nd place thanks to their victory in the Medal Race. ----- The 49erFX medal race was also canceled: Jana Germani/Giorgia Bertuzzi ITA narrowly won by one point ahead of Helen Naes/Marie Ronningen NOR. ----- In the Nacra 17, Tito Ruggero/Caterina Banti ITA also remained unbeaten in Palma. Two overall winners have already been decided: Michael Beckett GBR has an unassailable lead of 36 points over Philipp Buhl GER in the ILCA 7. He is followed by Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA, who is 8 points behind and 17 points ahead of Olympic champion Matthew Wearn AUS. Gauthier Verhulst SUI is 47th, Martin Verhulst SUI follows in 120th place of the 196 participants. In the Nacra 17, Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA demonstrated their superiority once again: after a slow start to the series (29/17 on the first day), they turned up the heat and made everything clear early yesterday with two race wins, their lead over Gian-Luigi Ugolini/Maria Giubilai ITA is 24 points. Michael Beckett GBR maintained his lead in ILCA 7, Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA moved up to second place, 10 points behind. One point behind him, Philipp Buhl GER is now 3rd. Gauthier Verhulst SUI is now 49th, Martin Verhulst SUI follows in 126th place of the 198 participants. Mara Stransky AUS has taken the lead in ILCA 6, followed by Matilda Nicholls GBR in 2nd place on equal points. Maud Jayet SUI was one of the day's best with 9th and 8th place and moved up to 12th. Formula Kite - European Championship 2024 - Los Alcazares ESP - Day 5

Yesterday good conditions with 15-18 knots of wind at the end of the final regattas. Today, the Medal Races are on the program. The first two in the ranking qualify directly for the final, the 3rd-10th places will determine the other two finalists in a semi-final - we will broadcast the decisions live today from noon. ----- Max Maeder SGP remained in a class of his own yesterday with 4 race wins. Axel Mazella FRA in 2nd place is also in the final - the classification for the semi-finals and the rankings. ----- Bruce Kessler SUI won the Silverfleet in superior style (=26 overall), and Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI finished the European Championship in the Silverfleet in 3rd place (=28 overall). ----- Lauriane Nolot FRA once again dominated the women's event with three race wins and, together with Poëma Newland FRA, went straight through to the final. Formula Kite - European Championship 2024 - Los Alcazares ESP - Day 4

In moderate 10-15kn the men started their final series yesterday. 4 races, 4 race wins - Max Maeder SGP dominated at will ! Axel Mazella FRA moved up to 2nd place, 15 points behind. Ricardo Pianosi ITA follows in 3rd place. In the Silverfleet, Bruce Kessler SUI dominated the action with three race wins and moved up to 1st place (=26 overall). Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI also moved up to 5th place (=30th overall). In the women's race, Lauriane Nolot FRA extended her lead to 7 points. Poëma Newland FRA and Jessie Kampman FRA - yesterday's best of the day with two race wins - are now level on points in 2nd place. Formula Kite - European Championship 2024 - Los Alcazares ESP - Day 3

Yesterday it was blowing at up to 30 knots on the Mar Menor, both fleets were racing with the smallest kites (9 and 11 m2). Lauriane Nolot FRA again won all 3 races in her group and is now leading by 2 points ahead of Poëma Newland FRA. Jessie Kampman FRA continues to hold 3rd place. Elena Lengwiler SUI is still in top form, yesterday with places 1/3/4 among the best of the day. She moved up to 5th place and is already listed in the official report as a promising contender for one of the last Olympic nation starting places to be awarded at the Hyères World Cup. In the men's event, Max Maeder SGP continued his winning streak, Riccardo Pianosi ITA is still 2nd, 4 points behind, while Axel Mazella FRA, also with 3 race wins in his group, moved up to 3rd. In 29th place, Bruce Kessler SUI missed out on qualifying for the gold fleet of the top 25 by 8 points. Good conditions allowed for 6 more races yesterday. ----- Max Maeder SGP lived up to his role as favorite in the men's event with all race wins. Two points behind him, Riccardo Pianosi ITA and Valentin Bontus AUT share 2nd place. Bruce Kessler SUI is now 28th, and Gian-Andrea Stragiotti SUI follows in 34th place. ----- The women's race is dominated by the French, who are holding their internal Olympic selection. Formula Kite - European Championship 2024 - Los Alcazares ESP - Day 1

In inconsistent winds between 5 and 15 knots, the Olympic Kite Foilers' European Championship began yesterday on the Mar Menor, the first major meeting of the new Olympic class after the winter break. ----- Valentin Bontus AUT and Ricardo Pianesi ITA lead the classification with two race wins each in their group. Max Maeder SGP follows in third place with the ranks 1/2. Bruce Kessler SUI also got off to a good start and is the best of the five Swiss in 24th place out of the 85 participants. ----- Poema Newland FRA has taken the lead in the women's competition, two points ahead of Gal Zukerman ISR. The Olympic Kiteboarding European Championships begin today on the Mar Menor, a large lagoon in south-east Spain. The men will be sailing in 4 groups, with Max Maeder SGP as the big favorite. Switzerland will be represented by Gian-Andrea Stragiotti, Bruce Kessler, Marcin Kroczak, Céderic Baker, and Karl Maeder. Nitai Hasson/Noa Lasry ISR are already 15 points behind in 2nd place.  470, Nacra 17, iQ-Foil - Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta - El Arenal ESP - Day 1 Yesterday, in the run-up to the Olympic World Cup, the Sailing Centre Regatta began in El Arenal with 3 races. ----- With 28 teams, the 470 fleet is very competitive. Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN took the lead, Nitai Hasson/Noa Lasry ISR follow 1 point behind, and the new world champions Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP are in 3rd place. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI started the series furiously with two premature starts and are right at the end of the rankings. ----- The Nacra 17 completed 4 races, with Mateo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG and Paul Kohlhoff/Alica Stuhlemmer GER tied on points at the top. iQ-Foil - Foiling Games - Cadiz ESP - Final results

The final day of the Foiling Games in Cadiz also saw very windy conditions with big waves. Too much for the U17 juniors and the U19 women, who did not get to race. The special format of the Medal Races once again shook up the rankings. ----- The men's Medal Race was won by Nacho Baltasar ESP, with Pawel Tarnowski POL and Michal Polak POL completing the podium. Sebastian Schärer SUI is 23rd among the 58 participants. ----- Lina Erzen SLO won the women's event ahead of Theresa Steinlein GER and Ingrid Puusta EST. Foiling in 3 metre waves and 20 knots of wind... the Cadiz area demanded everything from the more than 200 windsurfers yesterday! ----- Michal Polak POL took the lead in the men's race, while former leader Sebastian Kördel GER dropped back to 7th place. Sebastian Schärer SUI is now 23rd. ----- Theres Steinlein GER is the new leader in the women's race, having dominated the action yesterday with 4 race wins. ----- In the U19 rankings, Carola Colasanto ITA and Linda Oprandi ITA are tied for the lead in the girls' category. Chloë Huguenin SUI is now 14th. ----- Igor Lewinski POL is now at the top of the U19 men's rankings, 8 points behind Mattia Saoncella ITA. After the 4 slaloms on the start day, five course races were on the programme yesterday. Big waves and fresh winds of around 18 knots made for challenging conditions. With four race wins, Sebastian Kördel GER took the lead in the men's race, followed by Michael Polak POL one point behind. Sebastian Schärer SUI is now 20th. Tuva Oppedal NOR remained on top in the women's race, Katerina Svikova CZE moved up to second place. Theresa Steinlein GER moved up to third place on equal points. Manon Berger SUI is now 18th. After 4 races on the starting day (here the video of day 1), there was no wind yesterday in Cadiz.----- Tuve Oppedal NOR is leading the women's race. iQ-Foil - World Championship 2024 Lanzarote ESP - Final results

Upset at the top! Neither Emma Wilson GBR nor Luuc Van Opzeeland NED, who both dominated the entire week, were able to maintain their lead in the Medal Series final. ----- Sharon Kantor ISR won the women's Medal Race ahead of Emma Wilson GBR and Katy Spychakov ISR. ----- In the men's final, Nicolo Renna ITA claimed his first title with an attack on the last upwind. iQ-Foil - World Championship 2024 Lanzarote ESP - Day 5

The qualifications for today's Medal Series were completed yesterday with another 5 races. ----- The two leaders Luuc Van Opzeeland NED and Emma Wilson GBR have qualified directly for the final. Ranks 2-10 will sail quarters and semi-finals today. An almost exclusively European affair: Mariana Aguilar MEX and Grae Morris AUS in the men's event are the only non-Europeans in the final. Although Theresa Steinlein GER misses out on the Medal Series in 18th place, she wins the only available national starting place for the Olympic Games for Germany. In the men's event, the nation's starting place goes to Denmark (Johan Soe DEN, 17th place). After the early retirement of Elia Colombo SUI - he finished 56th - the Swiss were unable to achieve any top results. Sebastian Schärer SUI followed in 74th place out of 118 participants.
