 29er - World Championship 2016 - Medemblik NED - Day 1 The 228 boats' fleet, split in six groups, sailed three races on the opening day of the 29er World Championship on the Ijsselmeer NED. Lars Postma/Quinten Bramervaer NED and Rok Verderber/Klemen Semelbauer SLO are on top at equal points. Tom Crockett/Harry Morton AUS, Gwendal Nael/Liliane Mercier FRA and Ingmar Vieregge/Henrik Vieregge GER follow on the 3rd place with the same number of points.

 Laser Radial - World Championship 2016 - Dun Laoghaire IRL - Day 1 The Laser Radial World Championship began yesterday in Ireland with separate fleets for Men, Boys' and Girls' Youth.
The first leader in the men's fleet after two races is Maarten-Bastiaan Smit NED one point ahead of Jack Marshall USA. Only two of four Boys' fleets have completed two races so that the overall rankings are not yet meaningful. Juan Videla ARG and Raffael De La Hoz ESP lead in the Boys, 2 points ahead of Arthur Barrué FRA. The Girls' fleet sailed one race with Caroline Rosma NOR winning ahead of Alexandra Dahlberg FIN.

North Atlantic Record - New York USA - 'Comanche' underway since Sunday

 North Atlantic Record - New York USA - 'Comanche' underway since Sunday Last Sunday, the 100-foot-maxi 'Comanche' of Jim and Kristy Clarke USA with Casey Smith USA as Boat Captain as substitute for Ken Read USA as well as Stan Honey USA as navigator started in New York to a record North Atlantic record attempt for monohulls. The existing record of 6 days, 17 hours and 52 minutes belongs to 'Mari-Cha IV'. Thanks to an ideal weather window, 'Comanche' has already an advantage of 450 miles on the old record.

 29er - World Championship 2016 - Medemblik NED - Start today The 29er World Championship on the Ijssel-Meer began yesterday with the Practice Race sailed in a 5 kn wind. Today, 228 teams from 28 nations will start to the Championship with most probably good sailing conditions in a 15 kn wind.

 Various classes - Travemuende Week - Travemuende GER - Day 2 On Saturday, the Travemuende Week began, this year at the same time the German Laser Youth Championship. Seven one-design classes and the big-boats were in action up to now.
In the Lasers 4.7, Julian Hoffmann GER and Julia Büssmann GER share the lead at equal points. 68 participants from Germany and Hongkong are on the entry list. Hannah Andersohn GER is the clear leader in the Lasers Radial 15 points ahead of Benno Marstaller GBR, last year's winner.

 Optimist - Championnat d'été - Loctudy FRA - Final results The Optimist Summer Championship in Loctudy, southern Bretagne, ended last Friday. First after 4 races were at equal points Keo Devo FRA, Tangi le Goff FRA and the World Champion Max Wallenberg SUI, all with three race wins in their Groups. The tie was broken in favour of Keo Devo FRA with the best discard result (rank 2). 178 participants from 5 nations were present.

 AC-45-Catamaran - America's Cup World Series 2016 - Portsmouth GBR - Final results Yesterday on 'Super Sunday', the Portsmouth AC Series continued with the double-point races. Ben Ainslie GBR with his 'BAR' was the final winner much applauded by the big crowd attending the event. The report. Once more, the format of the AC Series was critisized, as the proximity to the shore to bring attractivity for the spectators can distort the results. This time, 'Team New Zealand' was handicapped colliding with a mooring buoy trailing below the surface. The video.

420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Final results - Gold for Portugal, Italy and Greece

 420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Final results - Gold for Portugal, Italy and Greece The windy Friday conditions persisted also yesterday at the Ligurian Coast. After the Qualifier Series sailed in light winds only, the fresh breeze in all Final Series races so far mixed up the rankings considerably.
The leaders in the Open/Men rankings changed again on the last day of the competition and the new World Champions are - thanks to a solid performance yesterday (5/3/7) - Diogo Costa/Pedro Costa POR. The team of the day (1/2/2) were Wiley Rogers/Jack Parkin USA progressing on rank 2. Vasilios Gourgiotis/Orestis Batsis GRE earned Bronze.
With the ranks 4/4/3, Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA replaced the leading Maria Bover/Clara Llabres ESP on top in the Women rankings. The Bronze Medal went to Maria-Vittoria Marchesini/Cecilia Fedel ITA.
No changes however in the U17 classification: Telis Anathasopoulos/Dimitrios Tassios GRE were the strongest team also on the last day of the event taking the title wit a 15 points lead on Eduard Ferrer/Carlos De Maqua ESP. On rank 3 followed Enzo Balanger/ Gaultier Tallieu FRA. Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA, best Girls' team, finished 4th.

 AC-45-Catamaran - America's Cup World Series 2016 - Portsmouth GBR - day 1 The GBR Round of the America's Cup World Series began yesterday in Portsmouth GBR. Sun and light winds prevailed and the races close to the shore were followed by a big crowd. Ben Ainslie GBR and his 'BAR' team won two out of the three races taking the interim's lead. The report.

 The ORC World Championship in Copenhagen was concluded yesterday with a last race sailed in a light wind. The final winners are: ORC-A Vadim Yakimenko RUS with his TP 52 'Freccia Rossa', ORC-B Claus Landmark NOR on a Landmark 43, ORC-C Jascha Bach NED on an Italia 9.98.

 420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Day 5 After 4 days with light winds, a fresher breeze of over 15 kn filled in yesterday, allowing to complete three races per fleet what substantially changed the rankings.
New on top of the Open classification are now Theo Carayon/Erwan Lucas FRA, as the former leaders Jim Vincent/Victor Mas FRA dropped on rank 9 with high two-digit results. Diego Costa/Pedro Costa POR follow 10 points behind on rank 2, and another 8 points back share Marc Lladó/ Antoni Massanet ESP and Fausto Cruz/Martin Arroyo ARG the 3rd place.
New leaders in the Women are María Bover/Clara Llabrés ESP 11 points ahead of Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA. Maria Vittoria Marchesini/Cecilia Fedel ITA new on the 3rd position are another 8 points behind.
No change however on top of the U17 rankings with Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE extending their lead on 15 points. Eduard Ferrer/Carlos De Maqua ESP are new on rank 2 and 3 points behind follow Enzo Balanger/Gaultier Tallieu FRA. The former leaders Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA dropped on rank 4 with a 32 points' backlog on rank 3, all chances for the podium have gone.

The light and variable winds have shaken up the fleet during the whole race, but at the end of the day, the leader was as mostly in this Tour 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' with Quentin Delapierre and Mathieu Salomon FRA. With a 48 points' lead in the overall rankings, they will not give away the final Tour victory.

The light and variable winds have shaken up the fleet during the whole race, but at the end of the day, the leader was as mostly in this Tour 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' with Quentin Delapierre and Mathieu Salomon FRA. Anatoly Loginov/Vadim Statsenko/Alexander Shalagin RUS grasped the title ahead of Stephan Link/Frank Butzmann/Michi Lipp GER at equal points. Only 2 points back finished Markus Brennecke/Jochen Schümann/Theis Palm GER on rank 3. Markus Wieser GER/UAE and his team on 4th missed the podium by 2 points only.

It was the day of the local team Rudolf Mayr/Anna Boustani/Philippe Boustani AUT who replaced the previous leader Gert Roukema NED and his team on top of the classifications in the last race. The Bronze Medal went to the junior team of Kai Moorman NED.

420 - World Championship 2016 - San Remo ITA - Day 4

After a start postponement, the Final Series went underway at the 420 Worlds in San Remo ITA in a moderate breeze, and the Open fleet sailed two, the Girls and U17 fleet one race each.
With a 2nd race rank, Maria Caba/Pilar Caba ESP took the overall lead in the Girls rankings, but the positions 1 to 4 are separated by 3 points only with Francesca Russo/Alice Linussi ITA on 2nd only one point back. The winners of the race Maria Bover/Clara Llabes ESP advanced on rank 3, and also Julia Szmit/Hanna Dzik POL on 4th will have a say in the battle for the title.
Jim Vincent/Victor Mas FRA extended their lead in the Open rankings. Theo Carayon/Erwan Lucas FRA on rank 2 are now 7 points behind. Fausto Cruz/Martin Arroyo ARG as 3rd have a backlog of already 24 points.
Leader change in the U17-classification where Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA replaced the leading Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitis Tassios GRE on rank 1. Separated by 2 points only, the title will go to either one, as the 3rd-ranked Eduard Ferrer/Carlos De Maqua ESP are already 13 points behind.

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Final results - Gold for Germany and Italy The Optimist European Championship 2016 was concluded yesterday with two races per fleet.
Gaia Bergonzini ITA climbed on rank 1 of the Girls' Goldfleet on the last day, as Melina Pappa GRE had two medium races only and descended on rank 3. Girl of the day was Antonia Schultheis MLT, winning both heats and grasping the Silver Medal.
A leader change occurred also in the Boys' Goldfleet. Winning the last race, Mewes Wieduwild GER grasped the title on the last moment. As his sister in the Girls, Richard Schultheis MLT was the best of the day and won Silver. Bronze went to Paolo Peracca ITA, who lost the title with two medium ranks in the last heats.

Olympic News from Great Britain - The British Sailing Team - an exceptional video

The British Sailing Team has been for years among the best nations world-wide in Olympic Sailing with Medal contenders in all ten events, also at the forthcoming Regatta in Rio. The Finn sailor Giles Scott GBR e.g. has dominated the Class since the 2012 Games and only exceptional circumstances would prevent him from winning Gold.

Diam 24 - Tour de France - Act 5 - Roses ESP - Day 12

After the long-distance race of Wednesday, the short races were on the program in Roses ESP. Six qualifiers and the Super Final were sailed and with 'Trésor de Tahiti' of Pierre Pennec FRA, a new Act winner showed up. But the leader 'Lorima Limonade - Morbihan' extended the overall Tour lead with a 3rd final rank in Roses.

The Dragon Europeans in St-Petersburg RUS continued yesterday with two races sailed again in a fresh breeze. The rankings before the last races today are very close as the leading Anatoly Loginov RUS and his team is only one point ahead of Markus Wieser GER sailing under the UAE flag, and also Stephan Link GER (with Frank Butzmann GER) is close with 3 points behind the leader. Markus Brennecke GER (with Jochen Schümann GER) dropped on rank 4 with a 12 points' backlog.

F16-Catamaran - World Championship 2016 - Knokke BEL - Final results

The F16-catamaran Worlds in Belgium ended yesterday, but the World Champions - the young local team Henri Demesmaeker/Alec Bagué BEL - had their title prematurely before the last heats already, having won 8 of the 12 races. Silver and Bronze went to Le Chapelier/Le Bouedec FRA and Flament/Dorange FRA.
