J/70 - North American Championship, Valle de Bravo MEX, May 14-19, final results, Bowen USA Champion

Yesterday, the last two races of the J/70 North American Championship were held of Valle de Bravo MEX with the premature Champion Thomas Bowen USA and his team not competing in the last heat. There were obviously no changes on the podium with Bowen first 16 points ahead of Oivind Lorentzen USA. Ander Belausteguigoitia MEX on rank 3 kept his advantage on rank 4 (12 pts) and grasped the Bronze medal. Winner in the Corinthian rankings is Hector Guzman Gonzalez MEX on rank 9.

J/70 - North American Championship, Valle de Bravo MEX, May 14-19

A steady 10-14 knots' breeze and gusts to 17, with puffs and shifts kept the teams busy in off Valle de Bravo MEX at the J/70 North Americans. 10 of the scheduled 12 races have been completed and Thomas Bowen USA and his team holds a dominating 25-point lead before the last two races of today, Saturday. Bowen counts only top-4 results on his record sheet. On rank 2 follows Oivind Lorentzen USA. Ander Belausteguigoitia MEX on rank 3 has an 11 points advantage on rank 4 and his podium finish is not really in danger. Leading the Corinthian division is Hector Guzman Gonzalez MEXon rank 9.

Farr 40 - 2018 Farr 40 North American Championship - Long Beach CA, May 10-13

'Plenty' of Alex Roepers USA (tactics Terry Hutchinson USA) and his team won the 2018 Farr 40 North American Championship, finishing 10 of the 11 races on top. 22 points behind, 'Struntje Light' of Wolfgang Schaefer GER grasped rank 2 overall in the the last race leaving the best Corinthian 'Australian Temptress' (Corinthian) on 3rd.

Matchracing - Argo Group 2018 Gold Cup - Hamilton BER - May 7 - 12, Canfield IS winner

 Matchracing - Argo Group 2018 Gold Cup - Hamilton BER - May 7 - 12, Canfield IS winner Taylor Canfield and his US One Sailing Team (Mike Buckley, Victor Diaz de Leon, George Peet and Erik Shampain) captured the 68th Argo Group Gold Cup with a 3-1 victory over Johnie Berntsson’s Swedish crew. He won the Cup for the second time, following his first win in 2012. Torvar Mirsky AUS defeated Lucy Macgregor GBR by the score of 2-0.

The 2018 Farr 40 North American Championship kicked off on Thursday with nine international teams racing for the title. Matchracing - Argo Group 2018 Gold Cup - Hamilton BER - May 7 - 12, Canfield ISV about to win

The Round Robin top-four teams of Taylor Canfield (USA), Johnie Berntsson (SWE), Joachim Aschenbrenner (DEN) and Nicklas Dackhammar (SWE) were all qualified for the quarterfinals and joined by Torvar Mirsky (AUS), Lucy Macgregor (GBR), Ettore Botticini (ITA) and Charlie Lalumiere (USA), qualified as best four after the next Round, respectively of the Repechage Round on Wednesday and Thursday. Yesterday, the Quarter- and Semi-Finals were held, as well as the first Final Matches.
Winners of the quarterfinals were Canfield vs Botticini, Berntsson vs Lalumiere, Macgregor vs Aschenbrenner and Mirsky vs Dackhammar.
Canfield and Berntsson defeated Mirsky and Macgregor in the Semis. After three matches in the Final, Canfield is leading over Berntsson 2-1, and in the Petite Final, Mirsky won the only match sailed so far against Macgregor 1-0.
Today Saturday, it looks like wind will be lighter than what we have had earlier this week but should be enough to finish the Argo Group Gold Cup under sunny skies.

Weta - US Multihull Championship 2018, April 19-22, Final results

Legendary multihull sailor Randy Smyth won his fifth Hobie Alter Trophy for the U.S. Multihull Championship 2018 held in Fort Walton Beach, FL from April 19 to 22 after three days of racing on Choctawhatchee Bay in the Weta trimaran. On the fourth and final day, racing was cancelled due to incoming storm fronts. Smyth won by one-point over Mike Krantz. Robert Hodges, Weta single as well, was 16 points behind on 3rd.

Weta - US Multihull Championship 2018, April 19-22

Racing at the US Multihull Championship is going on from April 19-22 on Choctawhatchee Bay in Weta trimarans as either singlehanded or doublehanded teams (34 in total) for the US Sailing title. Yesterday Saturday, after 10 races completed, Randy Smyth and Mike Krantz both sailing on Weta single, were fighting for the lead separated by one point only. Robert Hodges, Weta single as well, is already 16 points behind. The ranking list .

Dean Barker NZL was the outstanding winner of the first Round before he lost his first match in Round 2 ... and this against Eric Monnin SUI ! Already in Round on, the duel between the two was decided in a photo finish as the video reveals. Behind Barker NZL (10-1 w/l) follows new on rank 2 Sam Gilmour AUS (7-4). Johnie Berntsson SWE, Taylor Canfield ISV and Ian Williams GBR (all 6-5) are also well positiones for the Quarterfinal qualification. I

Team Racing - Baldwin Cup - Newport Beach - final results

After wind delays, tight racing, and a finish that raced the sunset in Newport Beach, NHYC 'Thunder' has re-taken the Baldwin Cup! After a humbling defeat from NHYC 'Lightning' last year in the semis, NHYC 'Thunder' has won it all in three races against 2013 Champions Larchmont YC to win the 2018 Baldwin Cup Team. Various classes - Les Voiles de St-Barth, final results

Yesterday, the final act for 9th edition of the Voiles de Saint-Barth took place in a challenging 25–27kn wind gusts in the low 30s and big seas. The Maxi and Multihull classes raced 28 miles, while CSA 1 and 2 covered 22 miles, and CSA 3 fought it out over a course of 18 miles. These robust conditions were helpful to some and complicated life for others, resulting in some major changes in the standings. Yet at the end, there were seven great winners that sailed to glory.

Match Racing - 2018 Ficker Cup - Long Beach CA - final results

The Kiwi Dean Barker USA, steering the NYYC 'America Magic' with Terry Hutchinson USA as tactician dominated the 2018 Ficker Cup, to win this Grade Two World Sailing regatta, and advance to the Congressional Cup, which runs April 16 to 22, 2018. Also qualifying for the Congressional Cup is Johnie Berntsson, SWE, who finished second in the three-day regatta, which was founded by Long Beach Yacht Club in 1980 to honor legendary yachtsman Bill Ficker.

 Star - Western Hemisphere Championship - Miami FL, USA - Day 1 The 2018 Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship, one of five Silver Star events of the Class, kicked off yesterday on Biscayne Bay. On a sunny day, the 37 Starboats from 9 nations completed two races with a great easterly breeze from 15 to 18 knots, Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA finishing 1st and 2nd took over the lead. In the cumulative results, Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA are first ahead of Jorge Zarif/Guilherme De Almeida BRA and at some distance Peter Vessella/Phil Trinter USA. Nacra 15 - Midwinters West - Long Beach CA, final results

Fourteen youth sailing teams from three countries competed in the 2018 Nacra 15 Midwinters West held March 29-31 in Long Beach, CA. Martin/Sole came out firing on the final day, winning all three races and securing the regatta with a race to spare. Sutter/Versavel continued their consistent top performance with a 4-2-2 edging out Mathew Monts/ Carlyn Blauvelt by two points to take second and third overall.
