The lightest winds of this Championship, 5-7 kn, prevailed yesterday in the Bay of Hyères during the fifth race. Very unconstant in strength, this breeze buried the hopes for a medal for a number of favorites. Only four teams have realistic chances for the title in the last race today. Ian Percy/Andrew Simpson GBR lead 5 points ahead of Robert Scheidt/Bruno Prada BRA. O'Leary/Burrows IRL follow 6 points behind, and another 3 points back are Kusznierewicz/Zycki POL, who needed a victory in the last race to move on top. Winners of the day yesterday were Pepper/Turner NZL, who - with this success - moved up on rank 6 and are now on a safe way for the Olympic berth, as are the 5th-ranked Hestbaek/Oleson DEN. Four nations on the positions 11 to 14, ranked within four points, fight for the remaining two places today: CRO, ESP, GRE and AUT. For today, moderate 12 kn West wind conditions have been announced. The results, the daily report and the video of the day.
