The fresh Easterly breeze did not follow the weathermen's recommendations yesterday and decided to stay in Hyères for another day, blowing with 18 kn and clearly over 20 kn in the gusts, not to forget the considerable swell. No wonder that the experienced teams took the top places in most of the classes, and the light-wind teams were on the loosing edge. In the Finns, the British power team made it quite clear with 4 boats in the top 5 and Ben Ainslie GBR and Giles Scott GBR winning the two heats in both fleets. In the 49ers, Storck/Moore USA ahead of Dyen/Christidis FRA and Sibello/Sibello ITA is the sequence at the top. A tied situation with the 470 men, where Mantis/Kagialis GRE and Charbonnier/Mion FRA share the lead with Leboucher/Garros FRA and Belcher/Page AUS only one point behind. In the 470 women, Pacheco/Betanzos ESP are first followed by Cohen/Bouskila ISR and Koch/Sommer DEN. Scheidt/Prada BRA took the lead in the Starboats, followed by the San Diego YC duo Szabo/Strube USA and Campbell/Coleman USA, but Stanjek/Kleen GER are not far behind on rank 4. Three flights in each group were sailed in the Women Match-Race, and in all three groups, teams with a clean 3-0 record are on top, i.e. Claire Leroy FRA, Sally Barkow USA and Silvi Roca ESP (group A), Ekaterina Skudina RUS and Tamara Echegoyen ESP (group B) and Lucy MacGregor GBR and Renée Groenveld NED (group C). In the RS:X men windsurfers, Tom Ashley NZL leads in front of Julien Bontemps FRA and Shahar Zubari ISR, in the RS:X women, Blanca Manchon ESP is ahead of Flavia Tartaglini ITA and Eugénie Ricard FRA.
