 Match Racing - Congressional Cup - Long Beach CA, USA - Day 5 Yesterday, Round Robin 2 was concluded in California and the first Semi Finals were held.
Taylor Canfield ISV leads over Johnie Berntsson SWE 1-0, Dean Barker NZL won his first match against Sam Gilmour AUS. Among the eliminated is the multiple World Champion Ian Williams GBR.

Laser - Championnat de la Méditerrannée - Marseille FRA - Day 1

 Laser - Championnat de la Méditerrannée - Marseille FRA - Day 1 Estival weather and light winds prevailed on the first day of Round 3 of the Laser Mediterranean Championship allowing to hold one race each for the Lasers 4.7 and Lasers Radial, while the Lasers Standard completed a second heat.
Farah Imbert SUI finished first in the Lasers 4.7 (42 participants) ahead of Matthis Poullain FRA and Maxime Faure FRA. In the Lasers Radial (73 participants) Louise Cervera FRA was first ahead of Matisse Pacaud FRA and Sofiane Karim FRA. The past Optimist World Champion Nicolas Rolaz SUI won both races in the Standards (20 participants). Arthur Barrué FRA and Xavier Labbe FRA followed on the ranks 2 and 3.

 Melges 20 - World League - Act 1 - Ischia ITA - Day 2 After the Melges 32 over the past weekend, it was the turn of the Melges 20 to open the Annual Championship with Act 1 in Ischia ITA. After a windless Friday, the first 3 races were sailed in good conditions.
Filippo Pancinotti ITA (tactics Manu Weiller ESP) has taken the lead with the ranks 1/2/3 ahead of Carlo Alberini ITA (Karlo Hmeljak SLO) and Vladimir Prosikhin RUS. 30 teams from 5 nations participate.

 Wind- & Kite-Surfing - Mondial du Vent - Leucate FRA - Day 5 The widely extended anticyclone over Europe left Leucate FRA again without wind yesterday, and the forecast for today, final day of the event, is not encouraging either. Towing competitions for the Freestyle windsurfers and Big-Air kiters, as well as Stand-Up paddling races will again be the program for the still many spectator today.

VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Itajai BRA - Mapfre wins In-Port race

'Mapfre' (Xabi Fernandez ESP) won the Itajaí In-Port Race yesterday after battling with team 'AkzoNobel' (Simeon Tienpont NED) for the lead on the first of three laps of the race course. After taking the lead on the first downwind leg in a moderate 10kn seabreeze, the Spanish team protected well the rest of the way, and extended the advantage in the In-Port Race Series over 'Dongfeng' (Charles Caudrelier FRA) who finished in third place.

 Swiss Sailing Promotion League - Act 1 - Locarno SUI - Day 2 Finally, the typical Lago Maggiore thermal breeze filled in allowing to complete 7 flights - 14 races in total - at the inaugural Swiss Sailing Promotion League Act 1 in Locarno. The CV Estavayer (Christophe Péclard) had a convincing day winning 6 heats, but remains on rank 2 after a premature start disqualification. With 5 wins and two 2nd ranks, the SC Tribschenhorn (Marc Kaufmann) is on top. On 3rd at some distance is the Buchillon YC (Fredrik Hedlund).

 Star, Finn - Lake Constance Championships - SV Bottighofen - Day 1 Very light winds prevailed on Lake Constance yesterday inspite of the hot summery weather and both classes completed three very short races each.
In the Starboats (PDF), Harald Böhler/Alexander Dietrich GER have taken the lead ahead of Jürg Ryffel/Beat Heinz YCR and Bernhard Seger/ ?. In the Finns (PDF), Christoph Christen YCB is first ahead of Josef Rochet FRA and Andreas Bollongino GER. 14 Starboats and 15 Finns participate.

 420 - Coupe International Méditerrannéen d'Amitié CIMA - Martigues FRA - Final results The CIMA 2018 was concluded yesterday with two more races sailed in a moderate wind.
The all-female team Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA won both and climbed on top of the rankings ahead of Ian Garreta/Julien Bunel FRA on rank 2 at equal points. Only one point back followed Tom Marsan/Victor Herbert FRA 3.

 Match Racing - Congressional Cup 2018 - Long Beach CA, USA - Day 3 Round Robin 2 went on yesterday with only two flights left at the end of the day. However, the four Semi Finalists are known: Dean Barker NZL is on top with a smashing 15-1 score. Taylor Canfield ISV and Johnie Berntsson SWE follow with 11-5 w/l each, and Ian Williams GBR (10-6) completes the final four sailing for the winners Jacket today.

 420 - Coupe Internationale Méditerranée d'Amitié CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 5 The CIMA 420 Final Series sailed in Martigues FRA in Gold- and Silverfleets began yesterday for the first time during this event with a fresher breeze. The changed conditions provoked numerous modifications in the rankings.
Ian Garreta/Juien Bunel FRA are the new leaders 2 points head of Enzo Balanger/Gaultier Tallieu FRA and Tom Marsan/Victor Herbert FRA at equal points on rank 2. With only 3 points on rank 1, the Girls' team Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA on 4th are still contenders for the final win. Today is the last day in Martigues.

 Match Racing - Congressional Cup - Long Beach CA, USA - Day 2 A solid seabreeze prevailed yesterday in Long Beach at the conclusion of Round Robin one and the frist two flights of Round Robin 2.
Dean Barker NZL was the outstanding winner of the first Round before he lost his first match in Round 2 ... and this against Eric Monnin SUI ! Already in Round on, the duel between the two was decided in a photo finish as the video reveals. Behind Barker NZL (10-1 w/l) follows new on rank 2 Sam Gilmour AUS (7-4). Johnie Berntsson SWE, Taylor Canfield ISV and Ian Williams GBR (all 6-5) are also well positiones for the Quarterfinal qualification. I

VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Itajai BRA - 'Scallywag' arrived in Itajai

 VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Itajai BRA - 'Scallywag' arrived in Itajai Yesterday, three days before the start to leg 8 of the VOR over 7'500nm from Itajai to Newport RI, USA, 'Scallywag' arrived at the port of call in Brazil. After the tragic loss at sea of John Fisher GBR, David Witt AUS abandoned leg 8 and did a stopover at the closest harbour in Chile. The transfer to Brazil around Cape Horn was done by a substitute team. In the coming two days, yacht and equipment have to be examined, repaired or replaced to be in shape for the next leg, as the materilal stress during the crossing of the Southern Seas was tremendous.

This 'third League' has been launched this year due to the increasing number of Clubs interested in this Championship. New among the participants are well established clubs such as the CV Lago di Lugano, the SC Hallwil, the CV Estavayer or the Basler SC.

420, 470 - National Printemps/CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 4

 420, 470 - National Printemps/CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 4 The perfect sailing conditions stayed on yesterday at the 420/470 CIMA, where the 470 'National Printemps' ended to allow the teams qualified for the Hyères Worldcup event to move on to the Côte d'Azur to be ready next Sunday.
Hippolyte Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA were the clear winner after 10 races in the 470s with a 19 points' advantage on Kevin Peponnet/Jérémie Mion FRA. On rank 3 followed Gelson Dzioubanov/Gustavo Thiensen BRA. Jennifer Poret/Camille Hautefaye FRA on rank 8 were the best women team.
The 420s continue the regatta today and tomorrow, split after 5 races sailed in a Gold- and Silverfleet. Solenza Mariani/Clara Olive FRA are 3 points ahead of Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA on 2nd before the final races. Tom Marson/Victor Herbert FRA advanced on rank 3.

Dean Barker NZL in his comeback was the outstanding dominator winning all six matches. With 4-2 wins followed Johnie Berntsson SWE, Taylor Canfield ISV and Sam Gilmour AUS on rank 2.

 5o5 - Coupe des vrais bateaux - CV Haute Seine FRA - Final results Over the past weekend, the 5o5s sailed a regatta on Lake d'Orient on the upper Seine river near Troyes FRA. The 24 teams from France, Belgium and Switzerland completed 4 races in light winds with Caroline and Philippe Jacot SUI as clear winners with 4 bullets ahead of Boite/Fountaine FRA and Martin/Coltier FRA.

World Sailing - Midyear Meeting - London GBR - Olympic sailing in danger

 World Sailing - Midyear Meeting - London GBR - Olympic sailing in danger In early May, the World Sailing Midyear-Meeting will debate on the future of Olympic Sailing discussing the 10 events to be held as from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris/Marseille. 65 submissions (follow Papers and Submissions) will be on the table and some of them suggest to replace half of the existing events ! Popular classes with considerable local and national fleets such as the Finn, 470s shall be eliminated and be replaced by events such as kiteboarding, two-person offshore racing or team racing.

 420, 470 - Nationale Printemps CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 2 Since last Sunday, the 420s and 470s have been sailing the CIMA, the national spring championship, and both classes completed 5 races so far. In the 470s, a number of overseas' teams participate on their way from Palma to Hyères (starting next Sunday).
Hippolyte Maccheti/Sidoine Dantes FRA lead in the 470s with a 6 points' advantage on Kevin Peponnet/Jérémy Mion FRA. Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI are on the 3rd place among the 30 teams from 10 nations.
In the 420s, female teams are in front with Solenza Mariani/Clara Olive FRA one point ahead of Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA.
