 Dragon - Gold-Cup 2017 - St-Tropez FRA - Day 4 Race 4 of the Dragon Gold-Cup was sailed offshore St-Tropez Pamplonne Beach as the wind in the Bay was again too light.
With a non-discardable disqualification, the leading Anatoly Loginov RUS dropped on rank 10. Winner of the day and new leader is Yewgenij Braslavets UKR sailing under Italian flag. Hendrik Witzmann GER/UAE 6 points behind remains on rank 2. New on the 3rd place is Pieter Heerema NED.

 GC32-Catamaran, Flying Phantom - Extreme Sailing Series, Act 7 - San Diego CA, USA - Start today Act 7 of the Extreme Sailing Series begins today in San Diego CA, the inaugural GC32 catamaran regatta in the USA. In addition to the dominators of the season - 'Alinghi', 'SAP Racing Team', 'Oman Air' - two other teams must be considered co-favorites: With a wildcard, Morgan Larson USA, Series winner as helmsman of 'Alinghi' and 'Oman Air' in 2014 and 2015, will participate with all-American (Californian) team. Update 11h CET: Olympic Worldcup 2017/18 - Gamagori JPN - Day 2

Only light winds prevailed today Wednesday on the second day of the Olympic Classes Worldcup in Gamagori JPN, and not all planned races could be held.
The 470 women sailed only one race and Agnieszka Skrzypulec/Irmina Mrozek POL, finishing 2nd, are now the sole leaders. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI and Benedetta Di Salle/Alessandra Dubbini ITA are on the ranks 2 and 3 one point behind each. In the 470 men, Isozaki/Takayanagi JPN have taken the lead 2 points ahead of the day's winners Capurro/Puppo ITA, as well as Belcher/Ryan AUS on the ranks 2 and 3.
In the 49ersFX, Lili Sebesi/Albane Dubois FRA defended their lead. New on rank 2 are Sayoko Horada/Sera Nagamatsu JPN. In the 49ers, the leaders are Fletcher/Bithell GBR 4 points ahead of Peters/Sterritt GBR.
No racing for the RS:X men windsurfers, where Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI leads after the two races of day 1. The RS:X women windsurfers completed at least one race and Megumi Komine JPN is now first overall ahead of Wai Yan Ngay HKG.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2017/18 - Gamagori JPN - Day 2 The wind filled in late and racing started with some delay. However, the two planned races could be held in light winds.
Finishing 2 and 3, the World Champion Pavlos Kontides CYP took the overall lead in the Lasers Standard ahead of Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR and Tom Burton AUS.
Leader change in the Lasers Radial with Anne-Marie Rindom DEN now one point ahead of Vasileia Karachaliou GRE. Emma Plaschaert BEL follows on rank 3.

Olympic Worldcup 17/18 - Act 1 - Gamagori JPN - Day 1

The first 2017/18 Olympic Classes Worldcup event began yesterday in Gamagori JPN with the full program sailed in light winds. Wednesday morning (Japan time), the wind was absent and the first races have just been concluded now. We shall be back around 10h UTC for today's results.
The Swiss had a perfect first day with Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI leading in the RS:X Men Windsurfers with two race wins, and Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI ranked 2nd in the 470 Women at equal points with the leading Skrzypulec/Mrozek POL.
The 470 women just finished their first race today with a 2nd place for the Polish women, keeping their first position overall. Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI finished 5th and defended their 2nd place overall.

 Dragon - Gold-Cup 2017 - St-Tropez FRA - Day 3 The light winds persisted on the third day of the Dragon-Gold-Cup in St-Tropez. Only outside of the Bay, there was sufficient wind for just one shortened race.
Jörgen Schönherr DEN and his team finished first and moved up on rank 4 overall. Anatoly Loginov RUS remains on top with a 5 points' lead on Henrik Witzmann UAE. On the 3rd place followed Stefan Link GER. Some prominent professionals with their teams are down in the rankings, such as the America's Cup Coach Philipp Presti FRA on rank 31, the Olympic Champion Jochen Schümann GER on Thomas Müller's GER boat as 32nd or the Starboat World Champion Dominik Zycki POL on the boat of Dirk Oldenburg SUI on 55th.

The first event of the 2017/18 Olympic Classes Worldcup began yesterday morning in Japan.
In the 470 women, the trio Skrzypulec/Mrozek POL, Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI and Di Salle/Dubbibni ITA is on top at equal points. In the 470 men, Belcher/Ryan AUS are first ahead of Isozaki/Takayanagi JPN. In the 49ers, McHardie/McKenzie NZL won the only race completed so far. Three heats were sailed by the 49ersFX. Lili Sebesi/Albane Dubois FRA lead with the ranks 2/1/1 followed by Sayoko Harada/Sera Nagamatsu JPN.
Two race wins for Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI in the RS:X Men Windsurfers. The best RS:X Women Windsurfer was Wai Yan Ngai HKG. The Finns do not participate. The Laser News follow in a separate text below.

The first 2017/18 Olympic Classes Worldcup event began in Japan yesterday morning with two races.
With Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR, Pavlos Kontides CYP and Francesco Marrai ITA, a trio is in the lead at equal points in the Lasers Standard.
One race was completed by the Lasers Radial with Anne-Marie Rindom DEN as winner ahead of Monika Mikkola FIN.

 VOR65 - Ocean Race 17/18 - New Skipper for AkzoNobel announced Three-time Volvo Ocean Race winner Brad Jackson has been announced as skipper of the Dutch VOR entry team 'AkzoNobel' for the 2017-18 edition of the 83,000-kilometer around the world race, replacing the fired Simeon Tienpont NED. The forty-nine-year-old from Auckland, New Zealand is competing in his seventh Volvo Ocean Race after coaching the Swedish all-women entry Team SCA in the 2014-15 edition. In his earliest round-the-world days, he was a crew member on Pierre Fehlmann's 'Merit Cup', 2nd-ranked in the Whitbread Race 1997/8.

 18-Footer - Spring Championship 2017 - Sydney AUS - Race 2 The 2017/2018 18-footer season was kicked-off a week ago with the Spring Championship on Sydney Harbour. Every Sunday until March 2018 a race will be sailed.
On top of the second race completed last Sunday was 'Triple M' with James Ward AUS winning wire-to-wire with a 2 minute plus advantage. She did not finish the first race a week ago due to a damaged main sail. 'Yandoo' with John Winning AUS and 'Finport Trade Finance' with Keagan York AUS finished on 2nd and 3rd.

 Dragon - Gold-Cup 2017 - St-Tropez FRA - Day 2 Sailed according to the traditional regatta format with one long race a day and no discard, the second heat of the Dragon Gold Cup was completed yesterday.
Starting under the UAE (United Arab Emirates) flag, Henrik Witzmann GER was the winner ahead of Jörgen Schönehrr DEN and Anatoly Loginov RUS. With the ranks 3/3, Loginov shares the overall lead with Stefan Link GER (1/5).

GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series Act 7, San Diego USA

 GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series Act 7, San Diego USA Two USA wild-card entries have been allotted for the San Diego Act of the Extreme Sailing Series. The Californian Morgan Larson USA will skipper 'Team Extreme San Diego', the second US wildcard to be announced following the entry of 'Lupe Tortilla Demetrio', in the penultimate stage of the season from 19 – 22 October. Larson, finished the 2016 Series as skipper of 'Oman Air' on second and was winner in 2014, steering 'Alinghi'. Larson’s stellar all-American crew line-up includes three of Oracle Team USA’s America’s Cup sailors: Andrew Campbell, Cooper Dressler and Matt Cassidy who will take the positions of mainsail trimmer, floater and headsail trimmer respectively, as well as Mike Kuschner s foil trimmer. Definitely a very strong competitor for the Series leading teams 'SAP', 'Oman Air' and 'Alinghi' !

 J/70 - North American Championship 2017 The 'Catapult Team' of Joel Ronning USA, past World Champion 2016, with John Kostecki as tactician won the J/70 North Americans held at the American Yacht Club Rye NY ahead of 'Relative Obscurity' of the reigning 2017 World Champion Peter Duncan USA. The 53 teams competing sailed 8 races. Jenn and Ray Wulff with their team on rank 14 won the Corinthian title.

 Melges 24 - European Sailing Series 2017 - Luino ITA - Final results The final Act of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2017 was concluded in Luino/Lago Maggiore ITA yesterday with two races. The leading Carlo Fracassoli ITA did not compete as his tactician got sick, and Robert Bakoczy HUN and his team moved on rank 1 after winning the last race. On the ranks 2 and 3 followed Kim Christensen DEN (with Michael Hestbaek DEN) and Niccolo Bertola ITA, winner of the Corinthian classification.

 GC32-Catamaran - Racing Tour 2017 - Marseille FRA - Final results Two more races were sailed on the last day of the Marseille GC32 event in moderate winds around 10 kn, both won by 'Zoulou' steered by Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI clearly winning overall. The Geneva 'RealTeam' with Jerôme Clerc SUI followed on rank 2 and secured herewith the overall Racing Tour victory.

 Star - Trofeo d'Amicizia - Brenzone ITA - Final results Good Lake Garda Northwind conditions prevailed yesterday during the last two races of the Trofeo d'Amicizia in Brenzone ITA. Finishing on the ranks 4 and 1, Ante Razmilovic/Brian Hammersley GBR moved up on rank 1, one point ahead of Hubert Merkelbach/Killian Weise GER and Alexey Zhivotovskiy/Liev Shnyr RUS at equal points on the ranks 2 and 3. The previously leading Benamati/Ambrosini ITA down on 4th missed the podium by one point. The prominent newcomer and Laser Olympic Champion 2008 Paul Goodison GBR, sailing with Frithjof Kleen GER finished 10th thanks of the ranks 1 and 2 but leaving out the two races of Sunday.

 M32-Catamaran - Alicante Cup - Alicante ESP - Final results Yann Guichard FRA and his team won the Final of the Alicante-Cup against Pieter-Jan Postman NED and is the unbeaten dominator of this matchrace organised as supporting act of the VOR start next Saturday. The all-female 'Magenta' of Sally Barkow USA with Elodie-Jane Mettraux SUI and Nathalie Brugger SUI finished the series on the 6th place.

 VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Alicante ESP - In-Port Race Alicante Moderate winds of up to 8 kn prevailed yesterday at the first In-Port Race of the 2018 Ocean Race in Alicante. Going right on the first upwind was the way to go and 'Mapfre' with Javi Fernandez ESP booked a start-to-finish victory clearly ahead of 'Dongfeng' with Charles Caudrelier FRA and 'Vestas' with Charlie Enright USA.

 GC32-Catamaran - Racing Tour 2017 - Marseille FRA - Day 3 The very light winds were mostly not powerful enough to lift off the GC32 foiling catamarans in the three races held yesterday. Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI, steering the French 'Zoulou' extended the lead with two race wins. 'Realteam' with Jerôme Clerc SUI advanced on rank 2 and consolidated the lead in the overall Tour rankings.

 Melges 40 - Grand Prix - Valencia ESP - Final results The second Act of the Melges 40 Circuit, the recently launched new 40-foot class, was concluded yesterday with three races. The final rankings remained unchanged with 'Stig' of Alessandro Rombelli ITA, tactics Francesco Bruni ITA, on first ahead of 'Synergy' of Valentin Zavadnikov MON/RUS with Ed Baird USA. Richard Goransson SWE and Yukihiro Ishida JPN participating for the first time (with Chris Rast SUI tacics) followed at equal points on the ranks 3 and 4.
