The ISAF Olympic Classes Sailing World Championship in Perth, Western Australia, ended yesterday with the Medal Races of the 49ers, the 470 women, the Lasers Standard and the RS:X-men windsurfers. The Australian hosts were the most successful nation with Gold Medals in the 49er (Outteridge/Jensen), 470-men (Belcher/Page) and the Lasers (Tom Slingsby). Two times Gold acquired the Netherlands (Marit Boumeester, Laser Radial, Dorian Van Rijsselberge, RS:X-men). The other titles went to Brazil (Scheidt/Prada, Star), Spain (Pacheco/Betanzos 470 women), Israel (Lee Korzits, RS:X-women), the USA (Anna Tunnicliffe, Match Race women) and England (Giles Scott, Finn). England confirmed its leading role in Olympic sailing with a number of Silver Medals. Disappointing the performance of the French team, among the top performing nations in the ISAF World Rankings, who only have Claire Leroy's Bronze Medal in Women's Match Racing. The event-website does not yet contain an overview on the medals by nation, or a summary on nations qualified for London 2012. The final report and all ranking lists.
