Six of the ten Olympic Classes were racing yesterday again in good weather conditions with a 12-18 kn wind. In the Finns, the dominator of day one, Jonas-Hoegh Christensen DEN, could defend his lead with the ranks 2 and 7. Even more important is the fact, that he was again twice ahead of the declared favorite for Gold Ben Ainslie GBR on rank 3 after a mediocre day. New on rank 2 is Jonathan Lobert FRA. The Starboats sailed the races 3 and 4 too and the ranking list is very packed with Percy/Simpson GBR and Melleby/Pedersen NOR jointly leading one poin ahead of Lööf/Salminen SWE, and another point back Scheidt/Prada BRA down on rank 4. The Lasers sailed their first two races. In the Radials, Annalise Murphy IRLwas the winner in both heats and she leads clearly overall in front of Evi Van Acker BEL and Marit Bouwmeester NED.In the Lasers Standard, Tom Slingsby AUS lived up to his reputation taking ranks 1 and 2 and leading overall ahead of Juan Maegli GUA and Tonci Stipanovic CRO with the same number of points on rank 2. Pavlos Kontides CYP follows as 4th. Two races as well for the 49er on their first day of the Olympic program. Norregard/Lang DEN lead one point ahead of Van Geijer/Düring SWE and the favorites Outteridge/Jensen AUS on 3rd for the moment. In the Women’s Match Race, the Round Robin continued, and after 4 matches sailed for all, Ekaterina Skudina RUS and Olivia Powrie AUS are the only undefeated teams.
