Olympic Worldcup Hyeres FRA Day 4 the Swiss
Yesterday's light wind conditions did not stop Richard Stauffacher SUI in the RS:X-windsurfers on his Olympic track. With the day ranks 4 and 7, he remains on the 6th overall place, and the Medal Race of Friday should not escape, meaning at the same time, that the last hurdle for the Olympic qualification (the 12th nation place in a selection event) would be mastered. Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI are fighting to conquer the same limit in the 470 men. With the ranks 9 and 5, they were among the best in the Goldfleet yesterday and are now on rank 20 and 15th nation only 12 points behind the 12th nation place. Despite of a medium day, Christoph Bottoni SUI has still chances to overcome the 12th nation barrier in the breezy races today. Being 25th and 14th nation in the Lasers Standard, he is only 14 points behind the 12th nation place. Keep the fingers cross: three Swiss Olympic qualifications are at stake ! Less convincing the performance of Nathalie Brugger SUI, 16th overall in the Lasers Radial. She has to compensate 19 points to reach the Medal Race of the Lasers Radial. Manon Luther SUI descended to the last position of the Goldfleet after a premature start. 23 points is the gap for the Swiss Sailing President Vincent Hagen, crewing for the former US World Champion George Szabo, to reach the Medal Race. They are at present on rank 14 in the Starboats, Niklaus SUI/Strube USA follow on rank 17. Thomas Gautschi SUI has lost some places in the Finns and is now 38th. The report of the day and the videos.
