At the front of the fleet, Franck Yves Escoffier on ‘Crêpes Whaou ! 3’ who grabbed the lead yesterday on an easterly route past the island of Gotland and Yves Le Blévec on ‘Actual’ (-8 miles), are already making their way out of the Oresund Straits into the North Sea. In third position, 70 miles behind the lead, is Loick Fequet on ‘Crêpes Whaou ! 2’. Thus far the race has been a mirror image of Leg 1 with huge gaps opening up between the groups.
