Match Racing Womens Match Race World Championship 2010 Newport USA Barkow USA leads semis 20 over Souter AUS
It was moving day at the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championship with fog but enough puffy breeze from the south to finish the knockout repechage, the quarterfinals and two flights of the semis. In the morning, Ekaterina Skudina RUS eliminated Anna Tunnicliffe USA to advance to the quarterfinals while Renee Groeneveld NED brushed aside Julie Bossard FRA.
A string of 3-0 sweeps was recorded in the quarters: Katie Spithill AUS lost the Oz duel to Nicky Souter, Claire Leroy defeated Genny Tulloch USA and Sally Barkow USA got the better of Skudina. Only top seed Lucy Macgregor GBR lost one race in her 3-1 defeat of Groeneveld. Barkow continued her streak of superb results in the semis to lead Souter 2-0 while Leroy and Macgregor are tied 1-1. The event continues today with the sail-off for places 5-8 (Tulloch leads with 2 points), the semis, the petit final and the title match. The report, all results, the gallery and the tracking page.
