 Olympic Equipment Evaluation  a results overview
The report about the outcome of the Women-Skiff and Mixed-Multihull equipment evaluation of Santandèr ESP end of March on behalf of the decision making ISAF Committees and Council has been published. The Mackay FX (a 49er with a smaller rig) and the somewhat lighter RS800 were the most popular skiffs among the test drivers. In the Catamarans, planned to be sailed as 'Mixed Event', the Nacra 17 got the best marks in the eyes of the testers. Read the reports and the individual positions of the test sailors.
The ISAF Midyear-Meeting delegates in May will debate about the new Olympic equipment, and the established reports will play a major role in the decision making process. However, sailing-news wonders whether any MNAs or officials really recognise what impact these decisions on Olympic events and equipment have on the sailors, clubs and federations in the present World economic environment, lacking sponsors and volunteers. Well established Classes such as the Star and may-be the Tornado and RS:X, as well as the women matchracing ciruit are given up, and major investments in new equipment and class organisation are ahead.
