M32-Catamaran - World Match Racing Tour 2017 - Act 1 - Perth AUS - Day 2

 M32-Catamaran - World Match Racing Tour 2017 - Act 1 - Perth AUS - Day 2 Racing is underway in Perth this morning, and two heats of the Round of 16 are already decided. Taylor Canfield ISV defeated Pieter-Jan Postma NED 3-0, Chris Steele NZL turned 2-0 backlog into a 3-2 victory against Jonas Warrer DEN. The Repechage of the backmarkers of each group was completed before with Postma NED eliminating Sally Barkow USA and George Anyon NZL.
The competition can be followed over a live feed. Beginning at 6 a.m. UTC, the livestream window on this website will be open. The fresh breeze reigning promises spectacular racing and capsizes are probably not excluded.

 IMOCA Open 60 - Vendée Globe 2016/17 - Records, records .... The 2016/17 Vendée Globe not only provided records on the water, but also ashore. Yesterday, the organisers presented media data and Race Village visitor statistics. The TV coverage of 1236 hours on 97 Channels in 190 countries is twice the volume of the last edition. 71 mio video sessions were called on the official website. The Facebook page had 236'000 followers. And last but not least, the Race Village was visited by 2,25 mio spectators.

 Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18 - 'Vestas' the 4th team to participate After 'Dongfeng' (Charles Caudrelier FRA), 'Mapfre' (Javi Fernandez ESP) and 'AkzoNobel' (Simeon Tienpont NED), the Danish 'Vestas' team confirmed the participation in this year's Volvo Ocean Race. The Volvo65 will be co-skippered by Charlie Enright USA and Mark Towill USA, the young Americans, who lead the Turk-USA team 'Alvimedica' in the last Volvo Race. The 'Vestas' Volvo65 was grounded on the Indian Ocean during the 2nd leg of the last Volvo Race, but was refitted for the final leg.

 M32-Catamaran - World Match Racing Tour 2017 - Act 1 - Perth AUS - Day 1 The first round of the World Match Racing Tour 2017 began yesterday on the Swan River in Perth AUS. The 18 teams, split in three groups of 6, sailed 4 qualification fleet races each.
The interim's leaders are Chris Steele NZL and Taylor Canfield ISV with 3 race wins as well as Yann Guichard FRA just one point ahead of Ian Williams and Torvar Mirsky AUS. The all-female 'Magenta' team of Sally Barkow USA is on the 4th place of their group.

 18-Footer - Club Championship 2016/17 - Sydney AUS - Race 12 - Final results Last Sunday, the 18-Footer Club Championship 2017 was concluded with the 12th and final regatta on Sydney Harbour. 'Smeg' with Lee Knapton AUS were the premature Champions with a solid points' advantage before the last race. Finishing 3rd, they confirmed their top performance during the past season. Winner of the day in a 15 kn wind was 'Compassmarkets.com' with Keagan York AUS.

 M32-Catamaran - World Match Racing Tour 2017 - Act 1 - Perth AUS - Day 1, with Canfield ISV and Barkow USA The frist round of the World Match Racing Tour 2017 began in Perth AUS this morning. Contrary to last year, the M32 catamarans sail on the Swan River in the middle of the city, with the best matchracers of the past years and Worldchampions, Phil Robertson NZL, Ian Williams GBR and Taylor Canfield ISV racing. Interesting will be to follow the Finn Olympic Medalist Pieter-Jan Postma NED in his first appearance on the WMRT. North America is represented by Taylor Canfield ISV and Sally Barkow USA.

 Super Yachts and various classes - Barth's Bucket - Saint Barthélemy FRA - Final results Yesterday was the final day of racing of the St. Barth’s Bucket, the annual Regatta for bigboats in five classes among them the Super Yachts (class D) off the the French Caribbean island. Overall Super Yacht winner was 'Rosehearty' of Joey Kaempfer with Paul Cayard USA as tactician. 'Meteor' and 'Perseus' completed the podium. Bénéteau Figaro, Class 40 - Normandie Solo - Cherbourg FRA - Final results

 Bénéteau Figaro, Class 40 - Normandie Solo - Cherbourg FRA - Final results Charlie Dalin FRA crossed the finish line of the Figaro 280-Mile-Solo-Regatta 'Normandie Solo' as winner yesterday with a 13 minutes' advantage on Nicolas Lunven FRA on rank 2. Sébastien Simon FRA folllowed as 3rd. The best-ranked woman Justine Mettraux SUI, crew on Sally Barkow's 'SCA' Volvo team, finished on the remarkable 9th place among the 24 solo skippers. After a first phase in moderate winds, a fresh breeze of up to 30 kn filled in with a peak in the middle of the night, making the race quite challenging. For 7 participants, the wind was too strong and they had to abandon the race with damaged boats.

 J-Class - St-Barth's Bucket - St-Barthélemy - Day 3 The 30th edition of the St-Bart's Bucket is being held on the French Caribbean Island St-Barthélemy. Over 30 superyacht participate, the smallest one with a length of 30 meters. The most attention this year goes to the six J-Class Yachts, the largest J-fleet since long of this measurement class boats launched in the 30ies of last century. Clear leader after 3 races is 'Velsheda' with 3 bullets, ahead of 'Hanuman', a replica, on rank 2.
