Class 40 - Transat Niji40 - Marie Galante FRA - Day 11
After the fast ride through the North Atlantic, the fleet must cross the flat transition zone to the trade winds. This is bigger than expected, and the leading duo, sailing just 1.5 miles apart, has already slowed down. Xavier Macaire/Carlos Manera ESP/Pierre Le Boucher FRA are now leading. On Sunday, three more races were sailed in light winds in the Adriatic. After two race wins for Urs Infanger SUI, the final race was decided in favor of Antonio Squizzati ITA, who has Paralympic experience. Urs Infanger SUI follows two points behind. Star - Western Hemisphere Championship 2024 - Miami FL, USA - Final results
The Western Hemisphere Championship was--decided in 8 races at the weekend in Miami. Tomas Hornos/Mauricio Buenos USA took first and second place on the final day, knocking Piet Eckert SUI/Federico Melo POR off the top spot. ILCA 4 - Youth European Championship 2024 - Izola SLO - Final results
The last races of the Junior European Championship were sailed yesterday in Portoroz at around 10 knots. The boys finished two races, the girls sailed three, with Gabriela Morrell ESP taking the title in the end, or rather the two titles: she also won the U16 classification. Maria-Christina Melaniti GRE and Maria Magdalena Villalonga ESP follow in 2nd and 3rd place. Léanne Turrin SUI was one of the best of the day and moved up to 8th place, taking the silver medal in the U16 classification - the ranking list Girls. Lorenzo Ghirotti ITA came out on top in the boys' category, with Vassilis Koukoudis GRE and Alberto Avanzini ITA completing the podium. Nathan Wehrle FRA took the U16 title in 5th place. Ulysse Raison SUI was 49th, Niklas Ambos SUI followed in 52nd place. 243 participants were at the start in total - the rankings boys. The final report.

The ILCA 4 Junior European Championship continued yesterday with two races each in around 15 knots of wind. ----- Before today's final day, Sara Lacko HUN leads 11 points ahead of Gabriela Morell ESP. Another 11 points behind is Maria-Christina Melaniti GRE in 3rd place. Leanne Turrin SUI is 16th and 2nd in the U16 classification - the ranking Girls. ----- Lorenzo Ghirotti ITA leads the boys' classification with a 9-point lead over Georgios Kypraios GRE. The fleet, now led by Alberto Riva ITA/Jean Marre FRA/Benjamin Schwartz FRA, has reached a zone with calmer winds on its way west. Yesterday, the two outliers in the south lost further distance - the gap is now 230 miles. ILCA 4 - Youth European Championship 2024 - Izola SLO - Day 4
Finally some wind! After 3 days of flat conditions, the wind freshened up to 22 knots yesterday, and all fleets were able to finish three races each. The two boys' groups without races on Tuesday caught up in the program. The changed conditions brought numerous changes in the classifications: ----- In the ILCA 4 Girls, Feline Van Ede NED took the lead with the day's 1st/1st/2nd places, ahead of Sara Lacko HUN in 2nd rank on equal points. Gabriela Morell ESP moved up to 3rd place. Leanne Turrin SUI also made a huge leap forward. Thanks to a 3rd place in her fleet, she is now 14th overall and 2nd in the U16 classification! - the Girls ranking list. ----- Juan Bennassar ESP has taken the lead in the men's ILCA 4, followed one point behind by Lorenzo Ghirotti ITA. Archie Munro GBR is close behind in 3rd place. Ulysse Raison SUI dropped back to 38th place, but Niklas Ambos SUI in 55th place and Lars Keller SUI in 79th place were able to move up into the Goldfleet - the ranking Boys. ----- The daily report and the Facebook page.

With wind conditions still atypical, the fleet in the west was able to hold on to the lead yesterday. The two breakaways in the south are now almost 150 miles behind, but will reach the trade winds today ... it remains exciting. ILCA 4 - Youth European Championship 2024 - Izola SLO - Day 3
The third day of the ILCA 4 European Championships in Izola was also characterized by poor conditions. The boys were at least able to start one race, which two of the four fleets finished. The girls didn't get to compete at all. As a result, the classifications of the start day remain unchanged this morning: On top Sara Lacko HUN in the women's event and Nathan Wehrle FRA in the men's event. The 13 Class 40 fleet has passed Cap Finisterre and now the weather poker begins: a large part of the fleet has chosen a westerly course and is sailing upwind in southerly winds. A smaller part is sailing southwards along the coast of Spain. In light winds between 6 and 8 knots, the ILCA 4 Junior European Championship started yesterday in Slovenia. Two races could be finished: ----- The ranking of the girls - the 148 participants are sailing in 3 groups - is led by Sara Lacko HUN.
