 Optimist - World Championship 2017 - Pattaya THA - Final results - USA wins Nations' Rankings, Charlotte Leigh USA Bronze, the Worldchampions are Marco Gradoni ITA and Maria Perello ESP Not enough wind on the final day of the 2017 Optimist World Championship in Pattaya THA and Marco Gradoni ITA is the new World Champion. Muhammad Fauzi Bin Kaman Shah MAS (Malaysia) earned Silver after his Bronze Medal of last year. Bronze went to Costa Rica with Mic Sig Kos Mohr CRC. Stephen Baker USA is on the excellent 4th place. The best girl was Maria Perello ESP, age 12 only, on rank 23, Palika Poonpat THA 35th took Silver and Charlotte Leigh USA 42nd Bronze. 281 Optimists from 62 nations participated.

After the Team Racing victory, USA is also the winner of the Nations Rankings of the individual Championship fleetrace ahead of China and Thailand with Silver and Bronze.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2017 - Nieuwpoort BEL - Day 2 with USA, MEX and CAN participants, racing cancelled, too much wind A passing rain front with winds above 30 kn inhibited racing yesterday at the Laser 4.7 World Championship in Belgium, and the rankings after the two races of the opening day remains unchanged.
In the Girls, Anna Monceda ESP leads ahead of Julia Büsselberg GER and Eline Verstraelen BEL. Abbie Carlson USA is 46th among the 105 participants.
Yilkan Timursah TUR, Sofiane Karim FRA and Cesare Barabino ITA are first in the Boys at equal points. Juan Pablo Rivas MEX is 188th, Bryan Jiao USA 195th and Tayte Stefaniuk CAN 216th among the 231 participants

 Contender - World Championship 2017 - Sonderborg DEN - Day 4, three more races in fresh winds The 2017 Contender World Championship in Sonderborg SWE continued yesterday with 3 races sailed in a fresh wind. Before the last races today, it has been decided that the title will go to Australia, either to Jason Beebe AUS or Mark Bulka AUS 2 points behind. The 3rd Jesper Nielsen DEN is 44 points back.  Windsurfing - Techno293+ - World Championship 2017 - Quiberon FRA - Day 4, no NorAm Youth Olympics berths earned The Techno293+ World Championship in Quiberon FRA was concluded yesterday, and for the first time, the Youth boat was equipped with the larger rig and sail as to be used in the 2018 Youth Olympics. The 2017 Worlds were the first nations qualification event for the Youth Games with the first six nations by gender earning a nations' slot.
Giorgia Speciale ITA was the winner in the Girls ahead of Aikaterini Divari GRE and Héloïse Macquart FRA. In the Boys, Fabien Pianazza FRA was first in front of Mathurin Jolivet FRA and Leonidas Tsortanidis GRE.

Aymeric Chapellier/Arthur Le Vaillant FRA finished first 15 minutes ahead of Phil Sharp GBR/Adrien Hardy FRA. The Anglo-French team, already second in leg 1, are the clear winners of the Class 44 offshore race.

Emanuel Le Chapelier/Eric Le Bouëdec FRA lead 13 points in front of Thoms Proust/Eric Proust FRA and 16 points ahead of Alec Bagué/Stijn Van Dale BEL. America's Cup News from New Zealand

 America's Cup News from New Zealand Team New Zealand has informed on the time schedule for the 36th America's Cup Challenge. In the coming September, the Protocol in preparation together with the Challenger of Record 'Luna Rossa' will be published. The Challenger Series will begin in Autumn 2021 in Auckland NZL. The most important change will be, that a "constructed in country" requirement for competing yachts and a nationality requirement for competing crew members will be included.

 Beach-Catamaran - Nord-West Passage - a new adventure of Yvan Bourgnon SUI After rounding Cape Horn and a solo round-the-world journey, Yvan Bourgnon SUI started five days ago with his 6 meter beach catamaran to a new adventure: the North-West Passage of the American continent during the short ice-free period. The weather was extremely bad up-to-now and after three rainy days without sun, the solar-panel feeded batteries are empty and the auto-pilot is not operational for the moment. Comes in addition, that - inspite of foul-weather gear - he is all wet and freezing.

Marco Gradoni ITA defended his lead with a 13 points' advantage on yesterday's best Muhammad Fauzi Bin Kaman Shah MAS (Malaysia), who finished on the ranks 2/12/2. Options for the title - with three races remaining - have also Mic Sig Kos Mohr CRC (Costa Rica), Stephan Baker USA and Haoze Fang CHN.

 Optimist - World Championship 2017 - Pattaya THA - Day 6 - No wind The 281 participants of the Optimist Worlds in Thailand waited in vain for the breeze yesterday. After a thunderstorm at noon, the wind disappeared and racing had to be cancelled. Here the news.
The IODA (Class Association) Annual Meeting voted in favour of Antigua as venue for the 2019 World Championship. The 2019 European Championship will be in Crozon-Morgat FRA. Last year, the Worlds and Europeans 2018 were allotted to Cyprus (Famagusta) and the Netherlands (Scheveningen).

Windsurfing - Techno 293+ - World Championship 2017 - Quiberon FRA - Day 2, with USA and MEX teams

The Techno Windsurfer World Championship in Quiberon FRA has been underway for two days, for the first time sailed with a new Youth board version - the Techno293 - with a larger rig to be used at the Youth Olympics in 2018. Quiberon regatta is a qualification event for the Youth Olympics.
After 4 races, Giorgia Speciale ITA is first in the Girls (50 participants, 23 nations). In the Boys (95 participants, 28 nations, 5 continents), two Greek windsurfers are ahead with Alexandros Kalpogiannakis GRE first and Leonidas Tsortanidis GRE second. Fabien Pianazza FRA follows on rank 3.

J/70 - Swiss Sailing Super League, Act 4 - SN Genève - Final results, SN Geneva wins Round 4, RC Bodensee takes overall lead

 J/70 - Swiss Sailing Super League, Act 4 - SN Genève - Final results, SN Geneva wins Round 4, RC Bodensee takes overall lead Best 2-4 bft Northwind conditions prevailed over the past weekend during the 4th Round of the Swiss Sailing Super League in Geneva and 40 races could be completed (20 for each team) in three days.
The home team of the SN Geneva with Fabrice Rigot won 12 races and was the superior winner ahed of the YC Bielersee with the experienced Lorenz Müller and the RC Bodensee with Julian Flessati at equal points.

In the overall League rankings, the RC Bodensee replaced the RC Oberhofen on top. The SN Geneva follows 2 points behind on rank 3. The fifth and last round of the Championship promises to be a high tension event.
