Olympic Classes - Kieler Woche - Kiel GER - Final Day, Caleb Paine defends 3rd place
Part one of the 2012 Kiel Week with priority on the Olympic classes (except the Starboats racing as from today) ended yesterday with the Medal Races. No major changes happened on top of the rankings. Even the grounding on a sandbank (Medal Races are 'close to the spectators near the shore' caring little about fairness) of Tobias Schadewaldt/Hannes Baumann GER in the 49ers could prevent them from finishing first overall. Frei/Rocherieux FRA and Heil/Plössel GER complete the podium. In the 470 men, the German Olympians Ferdinand Gerz/Patrick Follmann GER remained on the top position as well, ahead of Masilge/Klingenberg GER and Peponnet/Lebrun FRA. Annika Bochmann/Elisabeth Panuschka GER followed by Lutz/Beucke GER 2nd and Wengxi Wei/Xinjan He CHN, moving up on 3rd as winners of the Medal Race, is the winning sequence in the 470 women. Deniss Karpak EST completed this success winning the Medal Race as well and left Brendan Casey AUS and Caleb Paine USA clearly behind. All ranking lists and the report.
