ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship 2012 Dublin IRL Day 6, Mitchell Kiss USA remains outstanding
Two races were sailed yesterday in moderate conditions. Though there is still one final day of racing scheduled at the 2012 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship on Dublin Bay in Ireland, two class titles have already been decided. In the 29ers, the defending champions Carlos Robles/Florian Trittel ESP have been on top since the first day and cannot be overtaken after 11 races thanks to a 5th place fininsh as discard results. Lucas Rual/Thomas Biton FRA and 5 points behind Klaus Lange/Mateo Majdalani ARG will sail for Silver and Bronze today. Rupert White/Tom Britz GBRin the SL-16-catamarans made everything clear for the title with two race wins. Three teams fight today for the other two medals: Lowy/Vidal BRA are two points ahead of Darmanin/Copeland AUS, and another point back are Demesmaeker/Hendrickx BEL. On a good way to the title are also Pirouelle/Sipan FRA in the 420 Boys with an 11 points' advantage on Goedhart/Van Stekelenborg NED and - another two points behind - Charles/Charles ESP. Fully open however is the situation in the 420 Girls, where the best of the day Paternoster/Disalle ITA are now one point in front of Smith/Clark AUS. 10 points farther back duel Vose/Urman GBR and Horwitz/Fuentes CHI for the Bronze-Medal. Mitchell Kiss USA has a solid 13 points' lead before the last race in the Lasers Radial, and the second-ranked Mark Spearman AUS has a 17 points' advantage over the third Finn Lynch IRL auf, who will be attacked for Bronze by Hermann Tomasgaard NOR one point behind. In the Laser Radial Girls, there is only a small theoretical chance to take the title away from Julia Carlsson SWE who has a 19 points lead on Line Höst NOR. The 3rd-ranked Cecilia Zorzi ITA is only one point in front of Pinar Kaynar TUR. The Gold- and Silvermedals seem to be awarded in the RS:X-female windsurfers, as Saskia Skills GBR on top is 13 points in front of Naomi Cohen ISR, and another 12 points back follow Veronica Fanciulli ITA; Natalia Kapczyk POL and Anastasyia Valkevick BLR separated by 3 points. Tied on top of the RS:X male windsurfers are the defending champion Wonwood Cho KOR and Mattia Camboni ITA, while the Maxime Labat FRA and Aleksander Tugaryev UKR is fighting for Bronze.
