Finn - Easter Regatta - Athens GRE - Final results

 Finn - Easter Regatta - Athens GRE - Final results Berecz Zsombor HUN ahead of Caleb Paine USA on 2nd and Piotr Kula POL on 3rd is the final outcome of the Athens Easter Regatta terminated yesterday with another two races. Most international top Finn sailors participated, but many considered it a test and training regatta in preparation of the Finn European Championship taking place at the same venue from May 10 to 18. The multiple Champions Giles Scott GBR and Ed Wright GBR e.g. finished only 2 of the 6 races. Nils Theuninck SUI, rank 3 after 4 races, did not compete yesterday and dropped on rank 9 among the 30 participants.

 Wind- & Kite-Surfing - Mondial du Vent Leucate FRA - Day 5 Perfect conditions prevailed yesterday at the Kiteboard Freestyle Worldcup event in Leucate with up to 25k wind and good breakers. Eight riders qualified for today's Semi-Finals, in the women category, the four finalists are known already. Mikaili Sol BRA (age 14) is the favorite. The qualification tables and all details are available on the event website (in French). The competition will be transmitted live on www.sailing-news.com.

 Laser - Swiss Championship 2019 - CV Neuchatel - Start today Today begins the Laser Swiss Championship on Lake Neuchâtel. 29 Lasers Radial are on the entry list with the highly active youngsters Antonis Asonitis SNG or Rosine Baudet SNG as favorites. However, the comeback of the former Olympia campaigners Manon Kivell-Luther CNM and Fiona Testuz CNP in the Championship will make racing interesting. The largest fleet are the Lasers 4.7 with 30 participants, and the group of sailors having started in a number of international events this year already have to be favoured on Lake Neuchâtel, such as Eliott Raison SNG, Benjamin Dufour SNG or Anja Von Allmen RCO. No title will be awarded in the Olympic Lasers Standard, as only 3 participants entered.

 Finn - Easter Regatta - Athen GRE - Day 2 Beresz Zsombor HUN is on the first interim's rank at the Finn Easter Regatta in Athens GRE 4 points ahead of Caleb Paine USA on 2nd, followed one point back by Nils Theuninck SUI on 3rd. 30 participants from 20 nations are present, a much higher quality fleet as the one at the Genoa Worldcup last week. Four races have been sailed so far in moderate winds in this tune-up regatta to the Finn European Championship to be held in early May.

 29er - Euro-Cup 2019 - Act 2 - Cavalaire FRA - Final results As always on Easter, the 29ers sailed their second 2019 Europacup Round in Cavalaire FRA (between Hyères and St-Tropez). However, the strong Eastwind impacted the program and only 2 races could be completed in 4 days.
Aristide Girou/Noah Chauvin FRA, winners of both races in their group, were the overall first ahead of Mathias Berthet/Alexander Penty NOR and Ville Korhonen/ Edvard Bremer FIN. 93 participants from 15 nations (including SIN and ISV) were present.

Kiteboarding, Windsurfing - Mondial du Vent - Leucate FRA - Day 4

Yesterday, a 15kn breeze finally filled in to allow the first runs of the Leucate Foil Challenge for Kiteboarders and Windsurfers on the Etang de Leucate, a lagoon on the long sandy Mediterrean beaches. Benoit Gomez FRA and Mathilde Garandeau FRA finished first in the Kiters. In the Windsurf ranking, Tristan Algret FRA and Marion Mortefon FRA, drivers engaged in the PWA World Tour as well, are on the first positions.

 Kiteboarding, Windsurfing - Mondial du Vent - Leucate FRA - Day 3 Since last Saturday, the Mondial du Vent - a sport- and entertainment event in Leucate FRA near Narbonne at the Mediterranean Sea - has been underway. Wind- and Kitesurfer, Stand-Up-Paddler, Breakdancer competitions are on the program and this surrounded by beach parties.
The Kiteboard Freestylers, engaged in a Freestyle Worldcup Event, have been on hold due to lack of wind since Saturday, but things can change quickly when the powerful Tramontane wind kicks-in.

 Various classes - Spi Ouest - La Trinité-sur-Mer FRA - Final results The Spi Ouest Regatta in La Trinité FRA was terminated yesterday with the last races sailed in sun a moderate wind conditions. This classic Spring event at the French Atlantic Coast is one of the best attended competitions, this year with 440 teams in 16 classes.
The Diam-24-Trimaran, of special interest as these boats will again be used for the Tour-de-France à la Voile in July, had 'Bejaflore' of Valentin Bellet FRA as winner ahead of 'Golfe du Morbihan' with Robert Perron FRA and 'EFG Bank' with Pierre Pennec FRA. The all-female team 'La Boulangère' with Matilde Geron FRA followed on rank 11 among the 28 particpants.
In the Grand Surprise yachts (31 teams), François Morane FRA finished first ahead of Olivier Bornet FRA and Valentin Bovey SUI.
In the largest fleet, the J/80s, with 66 teams, Pierre Laouenan FRA and his team was on rank 1 followed by Iker Almandoz ESP.

Various Yachts - Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta - final results

 Various Yachts - Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta - final results The final race for the 32nd edition of Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta was held in a relatively moderate 15kn southeasterly wind. Racing was very close with eight of the classes decided on the very last race.
In the Classic Schooner Class, 'Severine', the 54-foot schooner of Gonzalo Botin won the last race to take class honours. The 141-foot schooner 'Columbia', owned by Brian D'Isernia, was runner up, 'Avenger', a 47-foot schooner, of Tom Gallant finished 3rd.
In the Dragons, the local Rocco Falcone finished first closely followed by Phil Hopton on 2nd and Gluca Perego on 3rd.

Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Final results

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Final results The Olympic Classes Worldcup event, held for the first time in Genoa ITA, was concluded yesterday with the 470, Laser and Finn Medal Races, again in light winds around 6-8kn, and major modifications on top of the rankings occurred.
In the 470 men, Paul Snow-Hansen/Daniel Willcox NZL finishing 2nd in the Medal Race replaced Xu/Wang CHN on top. Bronze went to Wagen/Siegwart SUI.
Fernanda Oliveira/Ana-Luiza Barbachan BRA, Olympic medalists 2008, were the premature winners in the 470 women before the race already. First yesterday, Wei/Gao CHN moved up on rank 2. Di Salle/Dubbini ITA followed on rank 3.
In the Finns, it was Jorge Zarif BRA who replaced the long-leading Alex Muscat ESP on top. Joan Cardona ESP completed the podium on 3rd.

 Laser - Olympic World Cup 2019 - ACt 3 - Genova ITA - Final results In both Laser fleets, a leader change occurred after the Medal Races, sailed in a 6-8kn wind yesterday.
Finishing 5th, Jonatan Vadnai HUN replaced the World Champion Pavlos Kontides CYP tied at equal points on top of the Lasers Standard. Andrew Lewis TTO (Trinidad&Tobago) moved up on rank 3.
In the Lasers Radial, it was Anne-Marie Rindom DEN grasping the overall win with 2nd race rank. Dongshuang Zhang CHNG followed on rank 2 with a 3 point backlog. Finishing 3rd in the Medal Race, Maud Jayet SUI had the upper hand on the tied Line Flem-Höst NOR in the duel for Bronze.

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Final results - 2x Bronze for Switzerland Light winds prevailed again on the last day of the Genoa Worldcup event and the Swiss qualified for the Medal Races performed well.
Finishing 2nd in the crucial final race, Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI moved up on rank 3 in the good-quality 470 men fleet. A Bronze Medal went to Maud Jayet SUI in the Lasers Radial thanks to a 3rd race rank yesterday. In the 470 women, the competition ended positively for Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI finishing 4th in the Medal Race and moving up one rank overall on 9th.

Dominating winner in the A-Cats was Mischa Heemskerk NED ahead of Emmanuel Dode FRA. In the Moths, Francesco Bruni ITA was first ahead of Carlo De Paoli ITA and Fabian Gielen GER. On top of the one-design WASZPs was Alexander Hogheim NOR ahead of Mael Garnier FRA.

Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Day 5

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Day 5 David and Lachy Gilmour AUS finished 4th in the 49er Medal Race and defended their first place ahead of McHardie/McKenzie NZL and Burling/Tuke NZL. With a victory in the 49erFX Medal Race, Odile Van Aanholt/Marieke Jongens NED consolidted their top position in front of Omari/Distefano ITA and Roble/Shea USA. In the Nacra-17, Iker Martinez/Olga Maslivets ESP advanced on rank 1 overall with a 2nd race rank, one point ahead of the previous leader Ben Saxton/Nicola Boniface GBR. The Olympic Champions Santiago Lange/Cecilia Carranza ARG moved up on rank 3. All other classes sailed their last fleetraces.
In the 470men, Zu/Wang CHN will start to today's Medal Race with 3 point lead on Snow-Hansen/Willcox NZL. 10 points behind, Wagen/Siegwart SUI still have an option on the victory. Numerous teams had difficulties with the very light condition and missed the Medal Race.
Fernanda Oliveira/Ana-Luiza Barbachan BRA are the premature winners in the 470 women with a 28 point advantage on Di Salle/Dubbini ITA closely followed by Berta/Caruso ITA.
In the Finns, Alex Muscat ESP defended the first position and will have to fight for victory with Jorge Zarif BRA only two points back. Joan Cardona ESP on 3rd is already 18 points behind.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Day 6 The qualifications for today's Medal Races were concluded yesterday with the last race again held in very light winds.
In the Lasers Standard, Pavlos Kontides CYP will start to the Medal Race with a 6 point lead on Jonatan Vadnai HUN. Another 5 points back follows Hermann Tomasgaard NOR on 3rd. The Olympic medalist Tonci Stipanovic CRO on 16th clearly missed the top-10.
Two races were sailed in the Lasers Radial and Dongshuang Zang CHN has now a 4 point advantage on Vasileia Karachaliou GRE. Anne-Marie Rindom DEN is 7 points behind, still with an option on the overall victory today.

 Olympic Wolrdcup 2019 - Act 3 - Genova ITA - Day 6 - Wagen/Siegwart SUI and Maud Jayet SUI will fight for Medals today Two Swiss boats have a chance for a Medal in today's last race, and even for the overall victory !
Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI defended their excellent 3rd place in the 470 men during the last fleetrace yesterday. Their backlog on rank 1 is 10 points before the start to the double-point-no-discard Medal Race today. However, ranks 4 and 5 are only 1 point behind ....
With a 5 point backlog on Bronze, Maud Jayet SUI on rank 5 in the Lasers Radial moved another place up yesterday.
Also qualified for the Medal Race are Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI as 10th in the 470 women, and this ahead of the Olympic medalists Kondo/Yoshioka JPN or Lecointre/Retornaz FRA.
The past-Optimist World Champion Nicolas Rolaz SUI finished the Laser Standard competition on rank 60 among the 111 participants.

 Optimist - Lake Garda Meeting - Riva ITA - Day 3 Two races were concluded yesterday on Lake Garda, with a leader change on top, as Richard Schultheiss MLT had a downer (rank 24) and was replaced on top by the Optimist World Champion Marco Gradoni ITA. On rank 3 followes Alex Demurtas ITA. The best North Americans are now Audrey Foley (Lauderdale YC) USA on rank 75, Alejandro Beckmann Riquelme (CN El Balis) MEX on rank 108 and Claire Ramsey (RNSYS) CAN on 134 among the 991 participants.

 Various Yachts - Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta - Day 2 - Line honours for the 79-footer Mariella Mariella of Carlo Falcone, a 1938 79-foot Alfred Mylne Yawl, took the line honours for the Common Course in an elapsed time of 2hrs 30min ahead of Seefalke II of Oliver Greensmith, a 1936 41-foot Rasmussen Sloop and Peter von Seestermuehe of Christoph von Reibnitz, a 1936 59-foot Henry Gruber Yawl.
Vibrant sailing conditions on the beautiful southern coast of Antigua prevailed again on the 2nd race day of the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta on the Butterfly Courses, i.e. the Common Course at 20nm, and the Long Course at 30nm, with warm SE trade winds of up to 20kn.
