The big 94-boat Etchells fleet was kept waiting on day one of the 2018 Worlds as the morning wind was too light and shifting from 10° to 110° delaying the first start of the Championship. Finally one race could be held in an up to 12kn wind. Ultimately, the winner was 'Havoc' of Iain Murray/Grant Simmer/Richie Allanson AUS ahead of Martin Hill AUS and Bruce Ferguson AUS with their teams. The America' Cup winner John Bertrand AUS is 5th, the defending champion Stephen Benjamin USA 18th.
