An 8 kn seabreeze, increasing to 15 kn for the second race prevailed during the last two final races, that already brought some decisions before today's double points, no discard Medal Races. With a 19 points' lead, Matthew Belcher/Malcom Page AUS are through capturing their third 470 men World Champion's title in a row. Pierre Leboucher/Vincent Garos FRA too have their Silver Medal before the last race, as having been the best of the day (ranks 1/3), they are 20 points ahead of the tied Lindgren/Lindgren FIN and Fantela/Marencic CRO, who will fight for the Bronze Medal today.
A thrilling final is ahead in the 470 women today, as Hannah Mills/Saskia Clarke GBR and Lisa Westerhof/Lobke Berkhout NED are first with the same number of points, and Jo Aleh/Olivia Powrie NZL follow only one point behind. Even Camille Lecointre/Mathilde Geron FRA, four points (i.e. two Medal Race ranks) behind the leading duo, have all chances to reach the top in the close matchracing-type Medal Race today. The Medals will go to three of the mentioned teams. China and Poland acquired the Olympic ticket yesterday, while Austria and Russia two points behind will duel for the last Olympic berth available in the sail-off race today.
