Olympic Worldcup 2016 Weymouth GBR Final results
Good conditions prevailed yesterday on the last day of the Weymouth Olympic Classes Worldcup Regatta and the Medal Races were sailed in an up to 16 kn breeze. Changes happened on top of some classes.
Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic CRO were the profiteers of the duel between the jointly leading Patience/Grube GBR and Xammar/Herp ESP winning the Medal Race and moving up on top of the 470 men. The British ladies dominated the Medal Race of the 470 women and herewith also the overall rankings. Hannah Mills/Saskia Clarke GBR won ahead of Weguelin/McIntyre GBR tied with Seabright/Carpenter GBR. On 4th with the same number of points are the former leaders Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI.
In the 49ers, the winners were Logan Dunning/Jack Simpson NZL followed by Fletcher/Sign GBR and Pink/Bithell GBR. In spite of winning the Medal Race of the 49ersFX, Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL did not climb on top. One point behind Charlotte Dobson/Sophie Ainsworth GBR, they had to content themselves with rank 2. The winners of the Swedish duel for rank 3 were Gross/Jonsson SWE.
In the Finns, it was once more Giles Scott GBR taking Gold ahead of Jonathan Lobert FRA and Max Salminen SWE. Ben Saxton/Nicola Groves GBR finished first in the Nacra 17 in front of Paul Kohlhoff/Caroline Werner GER and Billy Besson/Marie Riou FRA.
Toni Wilhelm GER won the Medal Race and clearly remained on top of the RS:X men windsurfers. The 2nd place of Peina Chen CHN in the RS:X women windsurfers was good enough for a superior victory.
