Optimist European Championship 2016 Crotone ITA Day 2, the Swiss
The program of the Optimist European Championship in Southern Italy was delayed yesterday because of stormy winds of up to 30 kn, and only late in the afternoon, the velocity was below 20 kn. After 16h, both fleets sailed at least one race.
Vasileios Livas GRE moved on top of the Boys jointly with Richard Schultheis MLT. Thanks to a race win in his group, Jordan Bruce USA advanced on the 3rd place, but Mewes Wleduwild GER is only one point behind. The Swiss lost some places and the best Maxim Dneprov SUI is now 48th, still on a Goldfleet rank (top 62). The best Swiss of the day was Jonas Domeisen SUI with a 13th rank, advancing on the 57th position overall. Provided he has some good finishes in the two last qualification heats today, Simeon Vollmer SUI as 67th might also join the Goldfleet.
Alice Moss SWE defended her lead in the Girls 2 points ahead of Gaia Bergonzini ITA. New on rank 3 is Anna Pagnini ITA. Anja Von Allmen SUI finished 2nd and advanced on rank 11 overall. Marie Van der Klink SUI - yesterday 8th - on rank 34 is also opting for a Goldfleet place. Rosine Baudet SUI, on rank 52 among the 105 participants, is also in the first half of the fleet.
