Fresher as expected was the wind in Rio yesterday, especially on the offshore courses with up to 30 kn. The only Swiss surviving well were Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI in the 470 men defending their 7th rank overall with a 7th race rank. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI in the 470 women capsized, but nevertheless they remained on rank 14 overall only 4 points bewind rank 10, the cut for the Medal Race. Today, the 470s have their lay day.
Out of the top three are Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI in the Nacra-17 catamarans. With the day ranks 6/19/11/18, they are down on rank 7.
The light-wind specialist Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI fighted yesterday mostly in the middle of the fleet. On rank 14 overall with 8 points on rank 10, his chances to make the Medal Race are still valid.
Today, the last Swiss team, Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI in the 49ers, start to their first Olympic race.
