Diam 24 Grand Prix La Grande Motte FRA Final results
The 2017 season of the Diam 24 Trimarans began over the past weekend in La Grande Motte at the French Mediterranean Coast, the class with the Tour de France à la Voile as highlight each July. The ambitious, partly new teams seized this first opportunity to get racing experience and to evaluate their performance. The most prominent newcomer was the dominator of the Nacra-17 scene Billy Besson FRA in his first appearance on the water since his back injury caught just before the 2016 Rio Olympics. As tactician on the 'Team Occitanie' multihull of the double 470 World Champion Pierre Leboucher FRA, Besson finished 2nd behind Sofian Bouvet FRA, also a top 470 sailor. 'Ville de Genève CER1' with Victor Casas SUI followed on the 3rd place. 14 races were sailed by the 8 teams from France and Switzerland.
