470 European Championship 2017 Monaco MON Day 5, the Swiss
Yesterday, the 470 Europeans Qualification Series for today's Medal Races were concluded.
Three team still have a chance for the title in the 470 women: Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED are clearly on pole with a 7 points' lead over Elena Berta/Sveva Carraro ITA. Agnieszka Skrzypulec/Jolanta Ogar POL are another 6 points back. Not far behind are 4 teams with an option for Bronze, and today's final race will be exciting. The Medal Race will take place without Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI. After the collision of Thursday that ended with a disqualification, they missed the first race yesterday and dropped out of the top-10 to rank 17 overall.
Carl-Frederik Fock/Marcus Dackhammar SWE start to the Medal Race with a solid 9 points' lead on Guillaume Pirouelle/Jérémy Mion FRA. Only 1 point more have Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS and a theoretical chance for the title remains in the double-points-no-discard final race.
Sailing in the Silverfleet, Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI finish their first big international Championship on rank 41 among the 49 teams.
