No wind, no Medal Races yesterday in Monaco and the rankings of Friday become final. Carl-Frederik Fock/Marcus Dackhammar SWE are the new European Champions in the 470 men and Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED take Gold in the 470 women.
The newly composed team Guillaume Pirouelle/Jérémy Mion FRA finished on the 2nd place ahead of the Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS on 3rd in the Open rankings. As 3rd European team, Jordi Xammar/Nicolas Rodriguez ESP grasped the European's Bronze Medal. For Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI, the Championship ended on Friday with the 42nd rank overall in their first big international Championship.
Behind the new 470 women Champions Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED, favorites in Monaco after their Worldcup victoriy in Hyères end of April, follows the surprise team Elena Berta/Sveva Carraro ITA. Anna Skrzypulec/Jolanta Ogar POL take Bronze. Thursday was the disaster day for Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI with a collision damaging the hull eliminating them from that race. They had a DNC in a second race and the Swiss were relegted on rank 17 far away from a Medal Race qualification, as the Jury decided against the Swiss in a much disputed hearing.
