Mini 650 MiniTransat La Rochelle FRA Leg 1 Day 4, the Swiss
For the past 40 hours, the Minis have been benefitting from the rear wind racing twice as fast - 10 kn average - as during the first day of the race, above all, the round-bow Protos who are about 2 kn faster than the 'normal' designs. The fleet has now passed Cape Finisterre at the most northwestern point of Spain.
In the Protos, the big favorite Ian Lipinski POL has now definitely taken the command distancing the main challengers with 30 nm and more. Among the winners of the last 24 hours was also Simon Koster SUI, who moved up on rank 4.
In the Series Minis, Rémi Aubrun FRA is the new leader 4 nm ahead of Erwan Le Draoulec FRA. Yannick Le Clech FRA and Clarisse Crémer FRA follow on the ranks 3 and 4. The best Swiss are well positioned with Valentin Gautier SUI on the 6th place 19 nm behind and Yann Burkhalter SUI as 13th with a 36 nm backlog.
