Mini 650 MiniTransat Las Palmas ESP Leg 2, the Swiss
Tomorrow, the start to the second leg of the Mini-Transat will be given on Gran Canaria. The 84 participants spent the past 10 days to recover and relax as well of course some maintenance and repair work on their boats. The wind forecast promises rather moderate conditions for the Atlantic crossing with not too strong trade winds. The top boats in both categories are closely together - the Protos with Ian Lipinski POL leading and Series Minis with Valentin Gautier SUI on first.
Valentin Gautier SUI, winner of leg one in the Series Minis is reluctant when speaking about his lead: His small advantage is of little significance for the outcome of the race considering the twice as long second leg. Simon Koster SUI, 5th in the Protos after the first leg, was busy with repairs at the keel of his boat during the stopover on the Canaries.
