VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Cape Town RSA - Leg 3 - Day 1

The start to the 6'000nm leg 3 of the Ocean Race from Cape Town RSA to Melbourne AUS was given yesterday by noon in a 25kn wind. After a short triangle off Cape Town, the fleet headed South. This morning UTC, the seven boats were still closely together with 'Brunel' (Bouwe Bekking NED) leading only 5nm ahead of 'Vestas' (Charlie Enright USA) on the last place sailing now on the 38th parallel in an unusual Eastwind. Down on latitude 40, the fresh Westwind on the highway of the South is waiting.
